The resort is HUGE but there was something for everyone. Our family includes children ages 6-17 and everyone was able to enjoy all of the facilities. The children’s waterpark is wonderful. Food is okay and what I would expect from a resort this size. Service was great. We stayed in a family suite which was extremely comfortable for our family of five. This area of the resort is quiet and perfect for a restful sleep. The beach is gorgeous- there is some seaweed but it is regularly cleaned up in the morning. The housekeepers do a fantastic job and were super friendly but come at very inconsistent times so hard to plan around. Overall, I definitely recommend if traveling with a family.

We travelled with 12 people ranging in age from 17 to 56. This resort is huge and while that may seem appealing when you have a group this large but ultimately it becomes quite inconvenient. Much time spent walking back and forth to get to lounges/bars/pools/restaurants, etc. Food quality was average at the main buffet but was much better in the adult area if you had access. The steakhouse food was by far the best but was difficult t o get reservations. We did enjoy the hydrotherapy and was able to get a discount for our group of 9 people.

I had a terrible experience with Barcelo. I booked online a reservation for my family this April, and made a mistake by selecting the wrong dates (1 day shorter than I needed). I realized immediately and called the hotel to add one more night to the reservation. The call center told me that they cannot change the reservation even if it was 5 minutes after done, and that if I wanted to cancel I would lose 100% of the deposit. Very disappointed. I wanted to spend one more day at the hotel (which would represent more revenue). The only path they suggested was to make another reservation for 1 day, which would cost me more than twice the rate for the other days. Very disappointed with the hotel's processes.

The beach had a lot of seaweed. The air conditioner in our room didn't work properly. It was difficult to communicate with restaurant staff.

Stay somewhere else
The advertisements and expectations did not live up. Checking in was a nightmare, then our room had someone else in it. Everything seemed to be disappointing. Food was awful everywhere. Staff wasn’t so friendly. The premium level wasn’t worth the money. Room wasn’t that clean. We couldn’t get on any excursions. Beach was nice but good luck getting a chair. The casino was okay. I feel like this place was probably great at one time but not so much anymore. We had a couples massage that was okay. But we still enjoyed each others company and had a good time.
