  Beautiful place

  Beautiful resort. Lots of things to do. Loved our room & services. Entertainment is available everywhere

  A Great Family Vacation!

  We had a wonderful time with our four and six-year-old kids! They absolutely loved the Barcy Club and Barcy Water Park. There is a bar conveniently located near the Barcy Water Park for the adults, and they even have little bar stools for the kids. The family rooms are spacious and were perfect for our family of four. I do not understand the concerns about privacy some have expressed. The entire bathroom area can be closed off with a door, and the toilet area also has a door. I suppose if people want a bathroom layout where they can shower while someone uses the sink, that could be problematic as the shower is half open and has a glass wall. It is in the same area as the sinks. The family rooms are also conveniently located near the Barcy Club, Barcy Water Park, the water park of older kids (Pirates Island), and the mini golf course. With a family room, you get one day at Pirates Island for free. Mini golf is also free before 6:00. The beach and pools were amazing! My only complaint is about the number of guests who reserve, but never seem to use their pool and beach chairs. We just folded and moved their towels out of the way while we used a couple chairs and then moved them back when we were done. It’s not that there are not enough chairs…it’s the myth of scarcity/herd mentality on full display. Anyway, we never waited long for service at the bars or restaurants. El Hoyo 19 is off the beaten path but worth a visit for breakfast and lunch. We didn’t go there for dinner. The food at the various restaurants and the buffets was alright but not great. Everyone in our family was able to find something to eat, though. Our favorite a la carte restaurant by far was La Fuente. Our initial reservations for the à la carte restaurants were all very late, which was not good for a family with young kids. Thankfully, guest services was able to adjust the times with just a couple visits, and we ended up with reservations at 6:00 or 6:15 every night. The kids show was basically just kids getting on stage and singing/dancing the two nights we went. It would be great if they had some more entertainment at an earlier hour for families. We did not have premium, and we do not feel like we missed out at all. My thought is save your money, but to each their own. Overall, we had a wonderful time, and the kids are already begging to go back!

  Great family vacation

  Great resort for families. Two separate water parks just for kids and a giant swimming pool area right outside of the buffet. Makes it so nice to keep the kids happy and fed all day. Buffet food wasn't good so be sure to book a premium room to get premium status so you can get reservations at the restaurants.

  Great property, friendly staff

  Barcelo Bavaro Palace is a very nice property. Beautifully manicured lawns. Property size is HUGE! In fact it is so huge that a friendly tip is that you should do a GPS pin of your hotel room when the porter brings your luggage as after the first dinner we got lost! Beach access is great, clean white sands. We went when the seaweed season had barely started so it was an issue and clean up staff was cleaning seaweed build up regularly. Food is meh. Rooms are large and have comfy beds.
