    Shambolic Experience

Came here (not by choice) due to flight cancellation for a single night. Stood around for over an hour waiting to get into one of the few restaurants, to receive further poor service and food. Hotel bedrooms poorly furnished with dark brown wood walls, making it even more dark and depressing. The only positive I have is the beach. An abysmal way to end what was once a great holiday. If you have any sense, please book anywhere else.

DO NOT BOOK! Worst Vacation Ever

Worst vacation I ever been on. From the time of check in to time of departure. This is my 5th time in Punta Cana. Staff is not friendly. Some staff members greeted you. Majority did not even enough give a simple Hola! The check in process was a disaster. I had to wait 2 hours to check in. When I finally checked in we upgraded to the sun club. I did not receive a butler the sunscape club was not worth it. The room was old nats flying around. We only had 2 beers 3 sodas and 3 bottle of waters in the refrigerator. The towel situation was horrendous. No wash clothes for showering only large towels. Tried calling the front desk. None of the options on the phone worked. You had to walk to the front desk. As I did, front desk is not happy to serve you. All we wanted was towels and wash clothes. No one ever cleaned our room nor restocked the refrigerator. We cleaned our own room. At the swim up bar the servers are not happy to be there even if you tipped them. The food options were not good. When we went for a formal dinner no matter the Resturant you had to wait on these long lines. I was told by the sunscape club lounge that no reservations were required. As we stood on line people were cutting the line saying that they had a reservation. Why did I upgrade if we were not going to receive upgraded privileges. The cigar lounge never opened. At the casino there was no AC and you had to pay for drinks. The nightclub the music was blasting overly loud and you had to pay for your drinks. Overall the experience was a 0 out of 5. Nothing was organized. I’m in awe that this resort is at a 4 star. I would not recommend or ever stay at a Sunscape resort.

    Don’t spend your money here…

The resort is a subpar experience at best. If you have traveled to other all inclusive resorts you will leave feeling disappointed and frustrated. Upon check in our room smelled of mildew. The thermostat would not cool below 25 degrees Celsius and went at high at 25.5 with is about 78 degrees Fahrenheit. The shower flooded the bathroom as well. The front desk did transfer us to a new room on the second day of our five day stay. The new room eventually had the same issues with the thermostat. The chain lock was broken. There was paint all over the trim, a broken dresser hinge, a piece of frame missing off of the sliding glass door, and an ungrounded and uncovered outlet which is a fire hazard. The next issue were the restaurants. They weren’t all open as advertised during lunch. The lines for dinner were excessive. In order to get seated in a decent amount of time we had to be in line 10-15 minutes prior to opening. If you do not get towels for the pool and beach early in the morning they were out for the rest of the day. On our third night there was a complete black out for five minutes. The power flickered off and on three more times before we left. And no, there was not a storm that caused the power outage. The lobby was almost always crowded and there were crowds everywhere in general. The food was average to below average with very little selection of authentic Dominican food. Lastly, the sales people were ridiculous. They were everywhere around the pools and beach and we were constantly being stopped. The best part of our stay was a full day excursion to Saona Island that we booked through Amstar. That made the trip worth it. For the most the staff was friendly and hardworking. You can can tell they were understaffed and doing multiple jobs within their role. We have stayed at the Hyatt Ziva and Zilara in Jamaica and this resort does not even come close to the quality we experienced on that trip. I would keep your money rather than stay here.

    Very dissapointed.

Very disappointed I would only rate this resort 3 stars it really needs up dating especially the bed rooms we had two incidents one with the coffee machine which managed to leak from the tank right through and out of the base, notified the reception but no replacement was forthcoming ! The last four days of our stay there was no hot or cold water at times so you could not even flush your loo so I filled up the waste bin 3 times from the swimming pool to flush the loo they did a kind of repair on every day except the last when it was fixed completely. Our friends room when on arrival was not fit for purpose it was still being cleaned and smelled of urine so they got this changed after much remonstrating with the reception lady. The coco cafe should have more staff members working there as the queues are long at times we feel sorry for poor staff who are good. The food in the main windows restaurant is average but the staff need more training sometimes you have no glasses for water or coffee cups on the tables. The Sports Bar should be open from 10 to mid-night. Do not go in the Sunny Side Grill the meal was awful and the staff were very poor. The other Restaurants were all OK. Finally if you want to have Blue Sea forget it it is not.

Raquel and Lobby Bar staff Made our Trip

Raquel, Jose, Jesusa made every evening so enjoyable. Raquel took excellent care of our family, all 3 generations, and was the definite bright spot for our week! Rooms are clean and beds comfy. Food truck is a great idea but be prepared for a long wait. Never had an issue getting a chair at the pool or beach.
