Despite the Growing Pains; this place is WORTH the trip! <3

Overall Experience: Our stay at Sunscape Coco Punta Cana was fantastic. We upgraded to the SunClub Adults Only section, which was worth the extra $300 for top-notch service and a peaceful environment. The food was exceptional, especially at Kaleidoscope, with plenty of tasty options. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, particularly Rosa, Raquel, and Anderson. While the push to sell extras on arrival was a bit off-putting, the facilities, including the pools and spacious room, were excellent. Entertainment was impressive, with great evening shows. Overall, it was a 4-star experience, and I highly recommend bringing extra tips for the amazing staff. Accommodation: The room itself was fantastic; we upgraded with Sunwing to the SunClub Adults Only section at the time of booking. It was an extra $300 each, but it was well worth it. No kids, and the service was top-notch. We never waited for a drink—Sweet Rosa even topped up my ice cubes on the hottest days. When we arrived, our room was ready, but it was missing some essentials like towels, pillowcases, and soaps. This didn't bother us; we called room service, and they quickly supplied everything we needed. The balcony was spacious with a lovely pool view. I visited with my brother, so the bathroom/shower setup lacked privacy, but it wasn’t a major issue for us. Food and Beverage: As someone who has been traveling to all-inclusive resorts for over 15 years, the food at this resort was the best part. It was incredibly tasty with plenty of options, and the flavors were exceptional. We didn't use any of the restaurants because we loved the food options at Kaleidoscope. Remember to tip the servers, bartenders, musicians, gardeners, etc. A couple of dollars for each drink or $10-$15 after a long day of service goes a long way. The Surf and Turf Pool Bar had the most delicious nachos, and I’m still thinking about them. Service and Staff: Rosa, your smile and kindness were like a beaming light; Raquel, your attention to detail and welcoming nature were commendable; Rihanna, you are not only beautiful but also have a kind spirit; Big Boy, your tall stature is matched by your gentle and kind demeanor; Anderson, you are a one-man show deserving of world recognition for your energetic spirit at the beach bar; Pedro, when I think of SunClub, I think of you—classy yet fun. A small downside was the push of coupons, special dinners, and credits upon arrival. It would have been better to introduce these a few days into the stay to give guests time to settle in and understand the Sunscape brand. Facilities and Amenities: We had no issues with water pressure or temperature. We stayed in room 2231 in the SunClub Adults Only section. The pools were kept cool, and the service was excellent. We did visit the main section with the swim-up bar, but it was crowded. I’d always choose the adults-only side; it was less busy and more relaxing. The beach cabanas cost $30 USD a day; I think including 1-2 days in the SunClub package would be a great incentive. The adult-only side was always empty, and the bar was nearby, so cabanas weren’t necessary for just two people. The beach was nice, though not clear during our stay, but this didn’t bother us as we enjoyed the adult-only pools. The property is huge, with many restaurants and activities to explore. Activities and Entertainment: We didn't do any excursions, but there were many options available at the resort. Next time, I plan to try out Saona Island. The evening shows were wonderful, with movies on the big screen followed by the main show. The dancers were amazing—Dominican talent at its best! There is a club and casino on site, which is open to the public, it was not our vibe, so we did not bother. Value for Money: This is a relatively new resort, opening in November 2023, taking over from the previous Be Live Collection Punta Cana. It's not a new build, so there are some growing pains, like paint splatters on the walkways. However, the staff and food were amazing, making it a 4-star experience for me. The value might vary depending on how much you spend, but for me, it was well worth it. Tips and Recommendations: The sun was strong throughout our seven-day stay, which was wonderful. Bring sunscreen, aloe cooling gel (keep it in the fridge), and anti-itch cream (I got bitten despite using bug spray). Bring your own pool toys and a Bath and Body Works candle for your room (trust me on this). Also, bring plenty of $1 USD bills for tipping.

    Wonderful Trip...Amazing Hospitality

My husband and I just returned home from a wonderful 5 day trip to Sunscape Coco! The staff there is without a doubt amazing! They will go above and beyond. One particular staff member, Julio (pictured next to me at Chopsticks restaurant), always took such great care of us everytime he saw us. If there was a dish we wanted that perhaps was not on the menu, Julio made it happen!!! If he saw us walking towards a restaurant/bar he had drinks waiting for us! Customer service at its finest! The selection of restaurants/bars is great! The shows are so much fun! All the staff works so hard to make the guests happy. They really do a great job with that! The resort does need some TLC. We had to call for service 3 times because the toilet was not functioning. The toilet was old and worn. Sunscape needs to update those bathrooms. The sliding glass doors in our room also needed to be replaced..mozquitos were attcking us every night because there was a gap where the sliding door met the frame. When we finally realized how they were getting in, we had to make sure the curtains were covering the gap. Again, this really needs to be updated. The wall decor over the bed was noticeably crooked...that one just made us giggle..overall it was a great trip!

    3 star at best.

Just got back from a week trip to Sunscape Coco and here is my honest review. My Mother and I went here for a Mothers Day/(her birthday trip) and I would have to say I would rate this place a 2.5 out of 5 and I would say that’s being generous. Let’s start with the good stuff. We got lucky and ended up with great weather. The staff did a good job at clearing the sargassum off the beach every morning. Some days the water is murky and other days it’s gorgeous and clear. The maid was great in always making sure the room was clean, plenty of fresh towels and fridge stocked. We always had hot water for showers. Maria and Gerald at Coco Cafe were amazing and always went above and beyond for me. They were absolute sweethearts. The resort looks gorgeous at night when it’s all lit up. The best food I would personally say is at breakfast although some days there was no bacon. And now for the bad stuff When we arrived there was only 3 people lined up in front of us to check in and it still took over an hour and a half to get into our room. I can’t even imagine what it would be like if a bus load of people were to show up at the same time. Our room was on the ground floor building 3 and although everything looked great at first glance in the room I quickly realized the shower had absolutely no shelves to place shampoos and conditioner etc so you will have to place all your stuff on the ground while taking a shower. Not very good for someone who has mobility issues. They had a mat rolled up in the shower that you can place on the floor so you don’t slip and to my surprise when i opened it up there was a giant cockroach the size of my thumb hiding in there. (I found a couple of those monsters throughout the week) If you are on the ground floor I highly suggest putting a towel at the bottom of your door to keep them from coming in. Apparently this hotel was bought out by Hyatt and fixed up and reopened in late November. They did a pretty bad job considering the shower floors are made with laminate wood flooring and the walls are made of wallpaper. (Who does that?!?!) My AC didn’t work very well but luckily we had the fan on in the room. The room has a funky smell the whole time. Likely from the sewage issues they had prior to me arriving. My fridge stopped working on the 5th day. I opened the door one day and the whole door at the top busted. (Yet another bad patch up job) The safe in the room is questionable. I personally left all my belongings in my suitcase. Especially after I figured out that safe can easily be reprogrammed to open. I changed my own code 6 times before it actually locked on me. So they really need to update/change those safes. The best food is at breakfast time and the habatchi dinner at chopsticks. At the buffet there are so many flies around and there are also birds that fly in and start pecking at the food. (Not very sanitary at all) I ended up getting violently sick staying at this place. Never in my life has it happened to me before and any other places I’ve stayed. Please do yourself a favor and pack Imodium (pepto bismol will not work if you get sick here). The hotel still needs a lot of work to be considered even a 4 star. A lot of people I met encountered a lot of the same issues. I’ve been to hotels that were rated a lot lower than this one and found them to be way better. I chose not to upgrade to sun club. I found it to be overpriced and you get pretty much the same thing as everyone else. There are no wristbands so who would even know if you are in sun club? Yoh can still use the pools etc and no one would even know. Would I return to the Dominican? Yes But I would definitely choose another resort.
