  Set your expectations low

  The rooms and dining facilities could use a refresh. The shower head had little pressure and the water was Luke warm at best, the water didn’t really flow towards the drain. It’s in a separate space from the toilet/sink area. There is a massive hot tub in the room. There was only a very small closet so we lived out of suitcases and used the hot tub as a flat surface to try to dry wet clothing. A better use of space would be a dresser or somewhere to hang clothes to dry. We also had a tiny ant infestation- they were in the bed and all over the bathroom even when I cleaned and killed them. The outdoors was stunning! We loved the hot tub and walking the grounds. The “game room” was also in need of an overhaul a the water filling station didn’t work. The workout facility was part of the game room and in need of repair and updates like everything else. Food was decent, breakfast was good.

  Amazing views & friendly staff. Parrots and volcano from our balcony.

  Came here with a large party of 7. Gorgeous property. Rooms have Amazing views. Staff was courteous and friendly. Breakfast every morning was 5 stars. With regard to complaints about bugs, animal noises, etc, you are in a rain forest!! What else do people expect? Only thing to note is that the property is a little hilly and not super easy to get around if elderly/disabled.

  A true gem right in front of the Arenal Volcano

  Our stay at Arenal Kioro was one of our highlights in our vacation to Costa Rica! It is about 20 minutes from the town of La Fortuna, right in front of the Arenal Volcano and has hot spring pools! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The staff were incredibly warm and helpful. We got a couple's suite with a jacuzzi. Volcano view from our window and terrace. Absolutely breathtaking to wake up to. The breakfast is delicious! Fresh fruit, gallo pinto (which we absolutely loved!), eggs, and coffee. The hot spring pools were also a perfect place to unwind after a day of adventure. We can’t wait to come back!

  Pass on Arenal Kioro Suites and Spa

  I made our hotel reservations thru Sam's Club Entertainment after reading several postitive reviews. After inputing all the traveler ages and information, we reserved 3 adults and 1 child (17yo). At checkin, the front desk charged me additional fees because the child wasn't 12 and under. The front desk was rude and the first impression was negative. This hotel may have been nice when it first opened, but it's tired appearnace definietly wasn't worth the price we paid. The toilets barely flush, there are ants and other bugs on the bathroom counter, the game room is old and smells of mildew. The one positive I can share is the included breakfast was great. Also good to know is that the hotel is further from town then most hotels in La Fortuna. In my opinion, there were better options and I would not refer anyone to stay at this hotel.

  Arenal Kioro Suites and Spa IS a 5 star hotel

  We took a private transfer from San Jose to La Fortuna and stayed two nights (room 1002) - nice buffet breakfast included - with an amazing view of the volcano-Arenal. This is a 5 star beautiful hotel - of course expensive - but with an outstanding service and peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The entire staff was great. Room was clean and huuuge with a king size bed that included another personal bed by the entrance. We enjoyed the hotel's hot springs which were excellent and not crowded at all. We ate at the restaurant next to the pool and food was excellent; the Costa Rican sandwich is big and delicious, the vegetables, everything was excellent. This IS without a doubt, an excellent hotel for those who seek a peaceful-relaxing atmosphere and wonderful hot springs.
