    Give it a try ….

So the hotel was good, not great . From the airport - ride was a little over an hour . We arrived and the front desk staff was welcoming. Got our instructions/ hotel map and off we went. I went through a company to plan my trip. I had a room with no view - they had no rooms to upgrade to . The bathroom was outdated with tub that was old and scratched. Beds were small . Initially did not have adequate towels but once I asked the front desk that was rectified for the rest of the trip . The food was average- I expected more local cuisine . The servers were pleasant . There is a rogue raccoon and iguana that roamed the upstairs restaurant- that made me uncomfortable . Pool was nice . The beach was directly across the hotel . They didn’t explain it well . But the guard will take beach chairs / lounge chairs and place them on the beach for you . The hotel did not appear to be overcrowded. No wait to eat and was always able to get chairs by the pool . I had activities planned for most days so really the hotel just functioned as a place to rest and recover. Had to pay to watch movies which I thought was weird . But I didn’t go there to watch tv . But for kids it would have been nice not to pay to watch a kid friendly movie.

    Best Family Vacation

Excellent experience from beginning to end! From the minute we walked into the hotel, the hospitality was amazing! The staff was attentive and always helpful. We were traveling with teens, and there was always something to do in the hotel.

Okay, but expected more for the money

We go somewhere every summer and expected more for the money compared to other resorts we have visited. We chose the “all inclusive “ option and maybe that was part of the problem. The attitude seemed to be that they already had our money, so concentrate on the cash customers instead. Food was good, but the choices were limited. Staff was friendly, but not accommodating. 6 out of 8 of our group became very ill and were bed ridden for a few days. The staff was indifferent to the situation and we even had difficulty with them allowing us to bring food back to them in the room. There was a few staff members that did ask about us, but that was the exception, not the norm. Elias, a bartender at the pool, was awesome. The resort needs updating. The beach is across a street from the resort. The resort does not have services on the beach. The overall experience was okay, but we were expecting more based on previous experiences elsewhere at similar costs.

    Not sanitary

I wanted to love this hotel, but I was frustrated my entire stay. The most egregious part of the stay is the lack of concern about wild animals in the property. For example, I witnessed an iguana jumping on an infant at the screened in breakfast spot and being taken to the doctor and then allowed to be in the restaurant the next morning. I even saw the iguana go into a kitchen cabinet and the staff did nothing to stop it. They have a name for the iguana. The droppings in kitchen should be alarming. I also experienced a raccoon trying to jump on my table and the staff do nothing. Raccoons are everywhere. This is not ok and the owner thinks it is. Find a better place to stay. My family hated every single minute. It’s not safe. It’s not sanitary. I could more about the lack of amenities at the beach etc, but wanted to focus I personal safety. This hotel should be shut down.

    Pretty Good

We stayed 7 nights/8 days last week at Margaritaville. Playa Flamingo is absolutely beautiful. The beach is 10 steps from the hotel. It was swimmable a few days, huge waves other days. We used Frank the Tank CR and Minor Gonzalez for our excursions. Minor is located right outside the hotel. PROS: *Friendly employees. So kind and helpful. They are constantly working hard to provide a good experience. *Pool was fun and clean, met a lot of people. *Golf cart rental right outside the hotel parking lot. $70 for 24 hours, had a great time with that. *Food was OK, gets very repetitive. Nothing major to complain about. *Felt very safe and we had no theft issues or worries. CONS: *Racoons at the rooftop restaurant. My Daughter was reaching for her drink and a racoon jumped up and scratched her arm. I realize they are wild, wish they would do more to detract them from the dining area. They climb all over the chairs and tables. *Bathroom was beyond moldy/mildew smelling. Room was fine but hard to get past the bathroom smell. I realize we are in rainy/humid country, but the bathroom needs a gut job. (Did see they are redoing all bathrooms Sept/Oct). *Housekeeping didn't come every day. When they came it was very late in the day. You would be gone from an excursion, come back tired and dirty, there would be no clean towels because your room hadn't been serviced. All in all, we got what we paid for. We had a good time. When the bathrooms are remodeled, I would think about staying there again.
