Beautiful resort with great service and lots of delicious food.

Beautiful property, excellent food with lots of different options, even for someone with gluten intolerance and other food sensitivities. They are very attentive to food allergies and ask every time at all restaurants and the buffet. Very attentive friendly staff. The room was large and had a very comfortable bed. Daily room cleaning is done so thoroughly and above and beyond any hotel in the US. Overall excellent resort. My only few nitpicking is room service was 45min-1 hour so plan ahead. Mini bar only included beer and soda and junk snacks. No other alcohol available but able to order a bottle of wine for $16.

Shame, really wanted to love this place

Family Concierge is limited at best. While I know they have more than one person to attend to, we went many days without knowing if they could accommodate dinner reservations, or even the Family Cenote Trip. My friend got more response than our family did. Maybe it was us, I guess? To the point where we felt undervalued from a guest perspective. The grounds are nice, the staff is friendly, but I couldn't help but feeling burdensome to our concierge. I just feel like if I'm paying extra for Family Concierge, it should feel less so and should expect a higher level of service. I also think its a bit ridiculous that you have to reserve dinner in the first place. Maybe at some of the more popular restaurants like Capella & Bana Family (which is tiny), but we went to Blue Agave & were like one of 4 tables there that night, and it took our server 9 minutes to even greet us. I couldn't imagine going back there & having to reserve another spot. Tacos there left much to be desired. I tried calling the Restaurant booking service & they required me to call my concierge, who I hadn't heard from, once the call was placed, I immediately got a WhatsApp message from my concierge. Why did it take me reaching out to the Restaurant Booking to get any response from my concierge? We were there for 9 days, my kids received a surprise gift two days there, nice touch. The bell boys, housekeepers and mini-bar keepers were amazing. Luis at Cielo, Server and chef at Bana Family, Laura at Celsius were Amazing! If I were to recommend Paradisus PDC I would recommend it for these people. Room Service was hit or miss, my kids loved the ability to order fries at any hour, but it was often inconsistent in terms of quality and temperature. Overall, when I compare this to other all-inclusives I have been to, I would rate it average at best. Some bright spots as mentioned above, but ignoring peoples emails when there is a cost discrepancy, not to mention the "pre-booking" of restaurants We booked this place to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, brought in 7 additional people that could make it to celebrate with us, 12 people from our event, and not once did Melia Paradisus Playa Del Carmen even make acknowledgement of our anniversary, despite me adding it to our "pre-arrival" questionnaire. Also a month before our visit asking for reservations? I don't crave anything that far in advance.

Great experience for kids and adults alike

We booked the Family Concierge option for a multi-family vacation, 10 of us in all, and it did not disappoint. My wife and I have visited Quintana Roo many times, and have stayed at all-inclusives with our kids before. This hotel exceeded our expectations for kid friendly activity and overall experience. The family concierge is worth every penny. The team was exceptionally attentive and communicative. The kids came back to the room to find a gift or activity bag almost every day. While the beach was too loaded with seaweed this season to swim in the ocean, the variety of pool options and waterpark were more than enough to keep the kids smiling and playing all day. At night, there was always some kind of kids activity or party going on, dancing, games, face painting, etc. and it was hard to get the kids to leave for bedtime. Also, we had an excursion to a cenote where we dove or ziplined into the water, plus a cave exploration and Mayan ritual, which was a great cultural experience for kids and adults alike. The food and drink options overall were pretty good. Some of the options with native/authentic Mexican and Yucatan cuisine were exceptional. Personally, I loved the breakfast bar with daily chilaquiles and juevos rancheros. Please don't come here to eat bacon, eggs, and cheeseburgers, and then post about how you didn't like the food. You're in Mexico, not McDonald's. Eat local. Minor gripes - the bed and pillows were not very plush and comfy for a luxury resort. The pull-out couch for the kids was more comfortable. Also, every inch of the rooms are tile and extremely slippery with any drip of water. Someone slipped and fell at least once per day (kids and adults alike). Put towels down. But on that note, towels were abundant and room service restocked everything frequently. Overall, this place was great. Every member of the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We had a great time.

Average Hotel - Find a newer one.

We stayed here almost 10 years ago and decided to go back this year because we enjoyed the "Family Concierge / Swim up Pool option" for our suite. It was sad to see they are not taking care of the hotel as well as when we were first there. Even in the lobby, first thing guests see, the sofa is dirty and old. Wow! Really? No one there to greet you except bell service. Sad. The whole place is dilapidated - paint chipping off the buildings. The room was okay. Room service was great - good food options. The beds were very small (Queen is a full). We chose the swim up pool option for our room and the stairs going down into the pool felt slimmy! There was MINIMAL staff when we went in June. We had to keep calling our concierge to get drink service to our pool . The first time we visited, our concierge was ON IT. This time, not so much. It was minimal effort. Not many great restaurants where we were pleasantly surprised not only by food but by service - EXCEPT the steak place over on the adult side. That was exceptional. They tried to have games so kids and adults could participate by the pool, but overall it just felt quiet, sad, and I should have stayed home in my own pool vibe. They need to do better with music and activities. My teenagers were so bored. My youngest tried the water park and quickly came out because there was so much chlorine in it. Her eyes turned red. We headed to Xcaret -- that was nice, don't miss it, but again, the evening presentation was HOT and HUMID and I got a bunch of fire ant bites on my ankles. Do the dinner show and at least you will get a meal. The sargassum was a lot. The smell permeated the entire resort. They tried their best to spray a pleasant smell into the air but it would just mix with the gross smell of seaweed. We were not able to go into the ocean at all. The spa was ok. I signed up for the stone massage, my masseuse did not know what she was doing. I got a total of 10 minutes with the stones out of 90minutes. The service was abruptly maybe because she realized she ran out of time? Find a newer hotel. We won't be returning to this hotel despite "family concierge" and a swim up pool option. Not worth it. I expect excellent service, excellent food, and a place where we feel welcomed, and encouraged to relax and have fun. Good luck!
