The Best Hotel in the World
I have to mention the wonderful staff who made our stay, once again, so enjoyable. The Las Brisas Beach Restaurant where we had breakfast every morning - Rayphi the numero uno Bloody Mary maker and Viktor for their attentiveness and service, the best egg guys in the world - Jose and David. The pool girls - Bianca, Karina, Estefania and Desiree, to whom nothing was too much trouble with their beautiful smiles. The Concierge Juan Carlos to whom nothing was too much trouble, the Pool Cleaner (I didn't find out his name sorry), and last but not least, Adriel the Customer Relation Manger, who went out of his way to ensure that our stay was one of the best, Also, to Orlando, front of house, who also made our stay special. This was our 10th time here and we are coming back in October and have already booked for June 2026. We can't wait to come back home to the Ambar.

Worst food ever
People are so nice, that’s the only nice thing I have to say. The food was absolutely terrible. We’ve been to over 10 all inclusive resorts and I’ve never had food so bad from the snack bar to the restaurants . The drinks all sugary and with mixers. Would highly recommend to avoid this place.

Nightmare in Bahia Ambar
Roaches ran across our plates at dinner and up our legs while waiting for the shuttles. . Food quality is at its lowest. Mold covered rooms. Towels and linens are used way past there expiration date. Left sick as a dog.

Don’t believe all the bad things you read.
I wrote a review after my holiday last year but felt I needed to comment on a couple of the latest reviews people have written. I am aware we are all entitled to to our own opinions but I hope this helps people that are worried about going after reading bad reviews. Someone said beds are hard. I cannot sleep on a hard bed, it hurts my body but I found them fine. If you do get a shared bed, they are so wide you don’t need to be near the other person. Bed would easily fit three people. As to the complaint that too much was in English I don’t agree. Being as the majority of people we saw there seemed to be American, then it makes sense. Canadians, French and English made up a lot of the rest of the people, who also mostly speak English. I felt more should have been done in English for the majority. I felt as it was Caribbean that there would be reggae, but there wasn’t much, it was Spanish. The white party was too much Spanish and had people leaving in their droves. My review asked for more English/American songs. Also a complaint a room wasn’t cleaned one day, do you clean your bedroom, bathroom, sitting room everyday. I don’t. We made our own bed and only had cleaner in every couple of days. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we did. We are returning for our third visit in September.

Avoid at all cost
Ambar is hands-down the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Do yourself a favor: do not book here. I visited for my sister’s bachelorette weekend with a group of 14 women. We’re all experienced travelers who’ve stayed at a range of resorts and hotels, and the level of hospitality at Ambar was absolutely abysmal. But more importantly — and alarmingly — two of our group members had a terrifying, safety-related incident that the hotel handled with shocking indifference. At 3 AM, a man who claimed to work for the hotel knocked repeatedly on their door. He refused to identify himself or say a word when they shouted through the door asking who it was. Our two friends, alone in their room, were woken up in the middle of the night by an unidentified man refusing to go away. This is beyond unacceptable — it was frightening and traumatic. When we reported it, the hotel shrugged it off with a casual “sorry, must’ve been the wrong room.” No investigation. No security follow-up. Nothing. Our friends didn’t sleep the rest of the night and felt completely unsafe. As a group of 14 women, safety was our #1 priority — and Ambar failed us miserably. Now for the few good things (because there were very few): 1. The room key bracelets were convenient — no need to carry cards. 2. The rooms were decent and mostly cleaned daily (though one wasn’t cleaned at all one day). 3. One staff member at the guest experience desk was incredibly helpful in getting dinner reservations for our whole group. 4. The pool bartenders on day three were fun and friendly. That’s it. Literally everything else was a mess. Issues started before we even arrived. Because we were a large group, we tried to make restaurant reservations in advance. We called the main resort number, and they told us we had to contact Ambar directly — but refused to give us the direct line. We then tried using the app, which said we could make reservations 10 days in advance after check-in. But the app only allows reservations for up to six people. I called again — they told me to use the app. It was a loop of uselessness. When we finally booked in person on day one, the app showed the wrong reservation times. Bottom line: the app is trash, and trying to organize meals for a large group was a total nightmare. The service? Inconsistent and often downright rude. While a few staff members were helpful, most were dismissive, irritated, and clearly uninterested in helping. Eye-rolling, ignoring requests, and asking for tips constantly were the norm. Multiple requests were denied for no reason, only for someone else to later approve the exact same thing. The golf cart drivers, responsible for shuttling guests around the large resort, routinely refused to stop for us. We arrived at the hotel around 1 PM — tired, hungry, and ready to check in. We were told we couldn’t check in until 3 PM (fine), but then informed all of our rooms had been booked with single beds. This was ridiculous because we had explicitly booked rooms with two beds. No explanation, no apology, just “that’s what was booked.” It wasn’t. Food and drinks? Hit or miss — mostly miss. Drinks were rum-heavy, which is fine if you love rum, but anything else — margaritas, mojitos, tequila sodas, etc. — was inconsistent and often poorly made. The food was equally unreliable. Limbo was good and delicious drinks, though the staff was rude. Portofino served the worst meal of the trip. Olivo started off terribly — they refused to seat us together, then insisted we all order the same appetizer and entree “to make it easier on the chef and servers.” Literally giving lazy and unprofessional. Ironically, that night ended up being the best food, and the servers did put on a fun show with music and dancing. In conclusion: I will never come back to Ambar. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. The complete disregard for guest safety, the disorganized and careless service, and the overall lack of professionalism made this trip far more stressful than it should have been. I will be warning everyone I know for the rest of my life to stay far, far away.
