The people was very nice and friendly

We had an ocean view room, but it was on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The next day they relocated us to the 2nd floor because of my back. The room was nice and clean. The butler we had was the best. He went out of his way to make my 70th birthday great.

    Superior property all-around!

The Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, is owned by Marriott and is one of the Marriott Bonvoy properties. It is by far the nicest all-inclusive I have stayed at! The property spared no expense, with stone tile walkways (not concrete sidewalks), pools everywhere, wonderful steak and seafood, and top-shelf drinks. It is absolutely beautiful for the money! After check-in, you'll go to building #3 to have your room key put on your wrist. You'll also go there to have it removed at the end of your stay. It's wonderful to have your room key on your wrist! Getting to the resort from the airport via the free shuttle took 25-35 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic. Our room was an upgrade, Diamond Club level, so we were assigned a butler. Lenny was wonderful! He made sure we had everything we needed. He made dinner reservations for us and brought a case of water to our room as requested. We believe our cleaning person was new because she forgot toilet paper, washcloths, and shower gel, for which we had to ping Lenny. The beach had soft white sand and ample thatch-roofed umbrellas, which shaded wicker chairs covered with waterproof foam chair mats! There were plenty of Bali beds to rent for $99 daily for 4 people. There were staff attending to Bali bed renters and guests who were known to tip well. I recommend taking a large insulated water bottle and filling it with ice water every morning at the pool bar because staff may or may not bring you water. I suppose they feared bringing water wouldn't lead to a tip, and many guests were getting dehydrated. There are daily water exercise classes in the largest pool, which are a lot of fun, and a swim-up bar. Guests staying in the Royalton Punta Cana Splash Resort are also welcome to play and eat at some of the pools and restaurants in the adults-only Royalton Punta Cana Resort, just 200 yards away. The "Hideaway" pool and several restaurants in the adults-only resort are not open to Splash guests. Entertainment was good at the largest pool but was lame at the Hideaway pool. There are nightly shows in the theater and on the center stage that are pretty good. The Dorado Seafood & Grill restaurant was my favorite. It served steak and seafood, which were excellent! Salmon at every meal was excellent, and grilled grouper was amazing. All the food was prepared beautifully and was fresh. The service was white linen. Restaurants like Beach Grill, Grazie Trattoria, and Dorado Seafood & Grill are open-air, so you'll want to sit under a ceiling fan. Our collective least favorite restaurant was Zen Teppanyaki, where the menu doesn't match the actual offering. We were only offered beef, chicken, and shrimp. Being a pescatarian who does not like shrimp, it took fifteen minutes to get them to offer salmon to me, which was on the "set menu" (good grief)! Diamond Club members spread finger food daily, which is great for a healthy snack or a chocolate fix. Our wedding group consisted of 45 people. The wedding was on the beach and so sweet! The reception was just off the main entrance, surrounded by foliage and beautiful decorations. The dinner served was the best I've had at any wedding reception. Excursions from the resort were first-class and well worth the cost. There wasn't an abundance of colorful reefs. We snorkeled from a glass-bottom boat to a fenced-in area with nurse sharks and large sting rays. A four-hour excursion took a total of six hours, as did the deep-sea fishing tour and the VIP catamaran party cruise. Some in our group went scuba diving and reported that it was nice. We all felt excursions were a great way to break up days at the pool and were well worth the cost. Things we noticed that are typical at any island resort were also found here: mold in the corner of the bathroom (due to high humidity), a language barrier if you don't speak their language, and at Hideaway, Punta Cana, 90% of the staff don't speak English, and I would say that was our biggest challenge. Items left in the room get lost in the shuffle: we left some felt hangers in a room when we changed rooms to add a guest, and when we requested to have them found and brought to us, they simply could not understand what we wanted, and thus, we didn't get them back. Items left on the beach aren't often recovered. Several guests, including two of us, left our sandals and a hat on the beach, which were never turned in. One set of black flip-flops placed at the end of our chair was replaced with a cheaper pair. We suspect guests were the perpetrators, so don't leave anything in the open on the beach for long. **Note** The resort is not overrun with stray animals! Overall, the resort is so lovely that the little things shouldn't ruin your stay if you'll plan to do your part to ensure your days are pleasant!

    Fantastic wedding

Our wedding planner Ruth was absolutely brilliant the day went amazing could not ask for much more from her so great full the hotel was really clean and tidy - big shout for bar staff Juan and Fanny they were amazing at remembering drinks the entertainment team were funny and got you involved shout to Winston jp and sexy Chris everyone got so much fun out of this trip the renovations were not a disruption only hotel lobby was having major work which visited on day we arrived and day we left. There were no issues with our room was fantastic we loved every minute of our stay and so did the other 10 guests that came with us to celebrate our wedding Lovely beach with plenty of beds both in the sun and in the shade Most of the pools can get a bit lively in the afternoon but if not for you the beach was always quiet and peaceful- although we had most afternoons in the hideaway pool Food spot on in the buffet - ate everything and no sickness loved the pasta bar Best restaurant was probably Dorado could have gone every night staying at hideaway no issue with reservations . Overall cannot fault this place even with renovations and with the great weather all made such a memorable trip for us. Thank you Royalton

    Best bartender experience ever!!

Juan, Yomi, and Karina from the hideaway bar were so spectacular and so amazing! I had such an awesome experience and felt right at home with their professionalism and great attitudes to help others with drinks! They made me feel appreciated to be there and was an experience worth making me want to go back again because of those three!! The hotel service was also phenomenal and made the trip very easy and feel luxurious!

Buyer Beware! This is not a luxury resort. False

! I just checked into the Royalton at 2:33 today and it is now 5:19pm, and I want to check out! I recently stayed at the Royalton in St. Lucia from June 6th-11th, and I thought that this Royalton would be similar. It’s very unclean, the food in the food truck is sitting out with flys on it, and the bathroom is extremely tiny! The only part that was good was Harrison who checked us in. If they would let me leave now, I would check into another hotel. I asked, but they said I would have to pay a penalty for tonight. Forget eating the food here. I rather order out. Buyer beware. This is not a luxury resort.
