    Great hotel

    When I first arrived to the hotel the outside I thought this is a mistake as it looks awful. Once you walk through the entrance you will see it’s a beautiful place. The Reception staff on arrival make you sit in the lobby and shout instructions on what they need you to do for check in I found the staff on reception rude. The staff (apart from reception) are all very polite and friendly. The room was beautiful, clean and could not want any more everything was thought of for this stay. The pool was great only issue if you want a good space near the pool you need to get up early to put your towels on. The hotel has a sign saying they will take away towels if left unattended but they don’t most people was leaving towels around 7am and not returning until midday. The bar at the pool Dip and sip was great the only issue they need more staff to cut down on waiting times the staff was doing there best. The main restaurant the staff are lovely the food I would rate 3/5 the variety let this place down. The restaurants Zen- the food 5/5 brilliant place to eat and great service. Hunter Stake house 5/5 food is delicious and great service. Calypso Restaurant 3/5 food was nice but not as good as the other restaurants. The restaurants close on certain nights so we was unable to try the other restaurants which is a shame notice would have helped us pick which nights to go to but we had no idea what was open when. The bars around the hotel are great apart from the sports bar. The sports bar we asked if we could watch the England match they must of had 70 People come to this game and they was not prepared for it there was lack of staff they have around 6 screens for sports but they only had it on two which was on two different channels so the time delay was 30 seconds not great for the visitors watching when England scored half of the place cheering the rest wondering what was going on until 30 seconds later then that tv stop working so 70 people trying to watch one small screen there is no air con in this bar and it was just uncomfortable. The beach is beautiful and great part of the hotel. The entertainment was good and we enjoyed the shows. Tips - don’t take Jamaican Dollars everything is in USDollars. Tipping the staff needs to be in US Dollars too. The only thing that let this hotel down was the reception staff on check in and check out. Please retrain the staff they are your first impressions of the hotel and they definitely let you down. They are rude do not smile at all and generally make you feel uncomfortable.

    DO NOT GO.. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE

    We are here currently.. This place is terrible, especially the check in service. THIS THE 4th and LAST TIME THAT WE will be traveling here. The check in service took over 3 hours. We did not get our rooms until 7:00pm and when we did it was dirty (photos attached and the check in people lost our paperwork and called me 10 times while on vacation.

    Good Hotel and Nice Stay

    I will try and make this review as honest and accurate as possible as we have seen that the hotel has received some negative reviews of late and this did concern us before we left. My overall feeling is that the hotel is good and there are so many positives but I can appreciate it’s in need of some attention to detail and TCL in areas. We came here as a family of 8 for 10 days with an age range of 1 years old to people in their 60s and we have all had a good time. Rooms: The rooms are lovely. What you want out of a good hotel room this does well, it has really comfy beds, a great walk in shower and some great views. They have been cleaned and re stocked every day. We haven’t had any AC however as this has been broken the entire stay, luckily we have the rotary fan and this has saved us and made it tolerable temperature wise. The broken AC does seem to be a common theme in the hotel. We called a few times and maintenance came out but it wasn’t fixed. Please also bear in mind that there is almost no AC anywhere and expect to be very hot and humid. You can pay to reserve a room on the Royalton website which was very handy in our opinion. It cost around £80 and ensured we had an ocean view and we weren’t right near the entertainment in the evening. Food and Drinks; We think that this is one of the best hotels for food we have eaten at. The buffet isn’t the biggest but has one of the better selections and quality foods. We ate at all of the restaurants available for Royalton members and they were all great. In particular the Calypso and Tex Mex were good. Hunters Steak House is good but there is often a wait. The others we would describe as good. We did the CX experience which is a 7 course meal with wine pairings and we loved it. The food and service was of the highest quality and we had a wonderful time however this was a paid service. Daytime food is good, and has variety. You can go to the buffet as standard, or you have the option of the jerk hut, food truck or pizza ovens around the main pool. Note - if you want to eat at the a la cartes be prepared to take a buzzer and wait. We got down for dinner at 7most evenings and sometimes had a 45 minute wait which we found fine. We went and got a drink. Drinks; there is no holds barred with the drinks. Cocktails, shorts and beers are free flowing. The main bar is the martini mix which is outside and around the entertainment and has good selection and nice staff. There is a cocktail Bar in the lobby which is tucked away and we spent more time here due to the better family seating and there are overhead fans for some respite from the heat. Pool, Beach and Entertainment; There is only one main pool which is slightly frustrating but it is big enough for the amount of people. A lot of people are in the ocean as this is a main draw and is stunning. Sun bed situation is a bit of a nightmare and we often noticed sunbeds reserved before 6am! We have a 1 year old and we’re often up early. Staff were being paid by the same families or couples to arrange this. There is a good atmosphere around the pool created by the vibe team, who play games, trivia etc. People have complained about the noise, but we didn’t find it too loud. If you want to escape the noise all you have to do is move over to the tranquil beach. The evening entertainment was great and we really enjoyed most of it. Yet again though the pool does need TLC. Lots of tiles missing and the beds in the middle had a lot of the frame broken there were nails sticking out. Staff: We found almost all of the staff to be fantastic. They were so friendly and helpful, super accommodating of our young daughter. This is our second time in Jamaica and we have always found the Jamaican people to be amazing. We don’t recognise any of the reviews stating that staff were rude or couldn’t be bothered, this simply isn’t the case. Negatives; Unfortunately there are some negatives. But I didn’t want to solely focus on them. It does feel like a lot of things are broken or don’t work. There are lots of small things that add up, things like coffee machines, AC, fridges, no plug for our baths. The hallways generally speaking can be dirty, windows smeared, lifts dirty regularly out of order. Overall we had a great time here and enjoyed our holiday. There is a price element to it all and Negril is expensive to stay in and you can easily spend 3k pp for a different hotel for 10 days and perhaps some of these issues would be ironed out.

    Year 3!!

    Our family visited Royalton for the third year in a row in June. We stayed in building 1 in a Diamond Club family suite. Our third year here and once again this resort was amazing! We are already looking forward to our next return. The Diamond Club beach and pool are amazing and just what our family loves! The perfect blend of quiet and fun. Leo, Butterfly, and Smiley from the Vibe team are incredibly. Kareem at the Diamond Club bar is awesome! Andrew the cabana butler continues to be our favorite and we love spending time with him each year we return. Our Butlers Kenisha and O’Neil were wonderful!!! This was our second year with Kenisha (upon request) and we just adore her. Although we didn’t have Okeen again this year he made a point to come say hello each night. We LOVE Okeen too! Lastly Romain at the Martini bar kept the drinks flowing always with a smile on his face!! The staff at Royalton is beginning to feel like family and between the staff and beautiful beaches is why we will continue to return!!

    Great Fitness Classes & Centre

    Jovie’s fitness class was brilliant, he provided encouragement and ensured our form was correct throughout to allow us to get the most from the session. The fitness centre has a good selection of equipment (both cardio and weights) and is open from 6am.
