Well earned holiday after a stressful few months but more stressed than ever

The hotel is run down and in need of a total makeover . Every room we've sat in has so many leaks. Water running down the walls into lamps and electrical fittings . Dining Room buckets everywhere catching rain water . Dripping on your tables , head and food. Been to see the rep and and she has said no complaints but everyone we have spoken to have said how many have complained so bit of a fib by the rep. I was actually in tears yesterday due to our room flooded by water flowing through the patio doors. We're devastated as this was sold as a 5* hotel , luxury and even the word paradise came into it but to me and my husband it's more like ells bells in the carry on films !!

    Relaxing vacation

First the good stuff, I loved the size of the resort not to big or to small. We met some amazing people, we had a 17 and 18 year old with us and they easily found groups to hang out with. The staff was amazing, we hated saying goodbye to some of them. My birthday was while we were there and they sang for me. Now the not so good We had 2 rooms, 1 was for 2 adults and the other for 2 adults and a 17 year old. That room was called a suite but it was one room with 1 king sized bed and a pull out bed. We had requested that they be close together but they were in separate buildings but the resort is small enough that it was fine. The food was hit and miss but we were never hungry. There was almost no staff interaction around the pool, we’ve been to many resorts where they play lots of games and activities. There were nightly shows but after the show there was nothing, no music playing anywhere or anything. It was a fun relaxing vacation but I doubt we go back

    A good 4* hotel

Returned yesterday from a 10 day stay at Azul Beach Resort with my mum and could summarise my holiday by dividing it into 3: the good, the bad and the ugly. The GOOD: STAFF - everyone was welcoming and polite. Special mention to Alejandra from Spoons and Angelica who kept our room spotless. ROOM - spacious, clean and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in a hotel! Had a couple of local wildlife in our room: a small crab and a lizard - but to be expected living by the sea. Some GOURMET RESTAURANTS - really enjoyed the food and service at Tapaz and the Caribbean restaurants - good variety and cooked well. SPOONS - although canteen style - served a decent variety of world and Mexican foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. PUERTO MORELOS: A small finishing village about 10 mins via Uber from the hotel. Not over-run with us tourists. Lovely local places to eat freshly caught sea food and eat where locals eat. The beach is long and full of powder sand and turquoise sea with opportunities to snorkel along the reef for around 400 pesos per person. The local supermarket sells local food, Mezcal and tequila at prices much cheaper than specialist shops and duty free. THE BAD: HOTEL - this is NOT a 5 star hotel - can see it once was but it is clearly past its best days. There is a standard of hotel expected of Sensatori Hotels and this did not meet it. Maybe it would have been less disappointing if advertised as a 4*. RESTAURANTS: As it was off peak, only 2 of the gourmet restaurants were open every evening which were on a first come first serve basis with no time restrictions on tables. As the hotel became busier on weekends, it left long waiting times - one evening after waiting over 1 hr for a place at the Caribbean Restaurant - we left and ordered room service! The Italian Restaurant (bookable only) was disappointing - over-cooked pasta was unacceptable from an Italian Gourmet Restaurant. The UGLY: BEACH - the beach was “Azul” in name only. I was aware it was a “small” beach but the sea water was brown, full of rocks making it impossible to go for a dip which is a huge part of any holiday for me. The variety and sizes of the pools were perfect for pool lovers but that’s not what I go on holiday for. Overall: Kind, friendly staff, lovely room, some lovely restaurants if you can get in. As long as you don’t expect a 5* Resort then you won’t be disappointed.

    Excellent 5 star resort

Excellent resort. Beautiful surroundings. Multiple pools and adults only areas. Branded alcohol and excellent a la carte restaurants. Rooms clean and modern. Topped daily fridge with snacks too.Fantastic room service and entertainment. Loved the gin bar and beach bbq for lunch. Thoroughly recommend this resort worthy of its 5 star.
