    Great family holiday at Azul

    We have just returned from a great family holiday at Azul Beach. We did read all the negative reviews before arriving but I really do not agree with them. We tried all the a la carte restaurants and had fantastic meals each time in them. All the team at the resort are great and really cannot do enough for you. The kids club was great for our 2 children they had so much fun in there and loved Jojo, Keds and Nesha. Also the entertainment crew with Anton and Kewee thank you for keeping us entertained plenty going on through the day with quizzes, volleyball and great evening entertainment by the main pool. The beach here is the best we have been to and Dave the beach butler kept up topped up all day. A final thank you to our butlers Davita & Adrian always there is we needed anything. Thank to all for a great holiday

    Terrible All the way around

    Nothing good to say about Azul for my milestone 50th birthday celebration. I had 13 rooms booked and it started out like a disaster. I work in Information Technology and when you enhance to make efficient and quality environments you optimize from a standpoint of “people, process, and technology.” People being the leading and key ingredient, process, to maximize quality and efficiency.. You get the picture. Upon arrival our group was offered upgraded rooms for a 30% discount and none of them were ready until 6:30 and 7p that evening. The hotel didn’t even offer us temporary rooms to change in and the bathrooms were wet and stinky, so people didn’t even want to use them. Toilet seats were not even affixed to the toilet bowls.. There surely is not a quality check list ANYWHERE on the property. My cousin had her room moved 3 times due to door locks. The sliding glass door didn’t work in 2 rooms at ground level (so check your locks), the 3rd rooms key card electronic system didn’t work accept for the master keys, and on the 4th try that rooms door key system worked. My sliding glass door didn’t lock either but I was on the top floor. The mini bars for an all-inclusive are NOT stocked daily and when you call to the desk its like a lottery. I think they have so many nonstop complaints they just can’t keep up. They don’t have enough bar staff and the bar staff is rude, demand tips, and literally have scowls on their faces dealing with customers. Oh I’m getting to the good parts.. So the same day I check in and finally make it to the beach from travelling from Washington DC and getting into my room at 7p, we try to get some last moments on the beach at sunset to be ravaged by sand nats and mosquitos. This literally tore us up from the beginning to the end of the trip. I’m scratching nonstop still. My mom and aunt were relaxing on beach loungers and I set my drink on the stand next to my chair and the security guard drinks my drink! I see him from the water. I get out the water and say where is my drink. The security guard that drank it left of course and then a few feet away my buddy says that security guard said give me your drink. And drank his half drunk beer! So after I’m in the hotel lobby asking for a manager I’m explaining my room has no mini bar options, the security guard is down on the beach drinking customer drinks saying he’s dumping them out for safety.. I was not only losing it but now on day 1, supremely concerned as a grown man about safety.. DAY 1. So while the security guard was sipping my drink on duty he’s hitting on my 78 and year old mom and aunt. The next day he starts hitting on my younger cousins and friends about coming back to the US with them. They were appalled. This happened with at least 5 or 6 of the men that worked the beach as life guards, bar tenders, and security everyday! Everyday.. If there was not a man with them the men would just go in on them to an uncomfortable place. Then they would smile when we would show up and not say a word. The bartenders were no attentive, over worked, and then offered no customer engagement. Especially by the swim up pools. I was there by myself and sat and watched this dude do everything but greet me even after I said hi.. I always great someone friendly and I expect if they are busy just to say one moment, be right with you.. Anything except silence for 5 mins straight while you fiddle with trash, ice, condiments, all because there is no guaranteed tip. As for tipping… You cannot walk 12 feet without being beraded to by something or give a tip. The lifeguards compete with the towel people to get tips. The towels have holes in them.. Are rough and they run out of towels at 11a everyday.. Its insane.. There’s nobody to move the outdated, mold invested green umbrellas, that are tattered and exposing the metal. The life guards will set up towels, get towels, and clean the area for a nice tip which we did. Not mad at them for being resourceful because the hotel management hides out and never surfaces! They let their staff get the brunt of every sort of mess all day long and I know the staff is not paid properly, otherwise they would be asking for a tip for just about everything under the sun. Don’t order room service because the options are terrible. They don’t collect the plates for days on end and you guessed it. Roaches…. This place is just insance.

    ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! WE HAD TO MOVE HOTEL HALFWAY THROUGH OUR STAY !!

    The title of this review says it all, just don't do it! We lasted 3 nights at Azul before walking up the beach and checking into a Sandals resort, which cost us an extra £1400 for 3 nights but we couldn't bare any more time in this horror show of a hotel. Every breakfast we had during our stay here was cold and 3 of the 4 evening meals we had were cold as well. We watched a lady complain her lasagne was cold in the Italian restaurant before the waiter picked it up off the table and put it straight into a microwave in an open view kitchen for all to see, before bringing it back to the table to which the lady got up and walked out! This is just 1 example of the food standard at this place. The rooms were unclean and dated, the taps, sinks and toilet barely worked. We paid for a swim up room which was sold to us as being located next to a swim up bar. Of the 4 nights we were there, this was open once and even then had a reduced Menu due to lack of stock (this was a constant problem throughout all bars in the hotel). The wardrobe is located in the bathroom so you can imagine how damp the clothes were after 2/3 nights of hot showers. why you'd put wardrobes and cupboards in a bathroom I will never know. There was Cat faeces on the balcony and outside the front door of our room which we asked to be cleaned twice and nothing was done about it. I don't know who the people spoke to that are writing good reviews about the staff, we found them rude, unprofessional and disinterested in making us feel welcome. When complaining about the state of the hotel and service, we were met with a kiss of the teeth and a dirty look. When we checked out early, we had to fill out a form explaining why, the receptionist read this and kissed her teeth again before dropping it on the desk and asking for our bands back. 3 times in 2 days the security guard on the beach asked me to sneak him some beers out of our room to which I told him no, in response to this he said 'if you're not getting one out of the room, can you sneak me one from the bar instead'. This is meant to be the guy protecting the hotel! I could go on all day about the issues we faced at the Azul beach resort but I think the fact we had to find a new hotel to spend the last 3 nights of our stay says all you need to know. Horrendous place. DON'T STAY HERE !!!!!

    We arrived today at 1:30 pm and were told check in was at 3 but good news we were upgraded at no cost to a swim up room! Come 4:00 still no room and the GM said just a few more minutes and we weren't getting a swim up and no Ocean View, which is what we paid for. At 4:15 the housekeeping manager said swim up would be ready TOMORROW afternoon but she put us (2 people) in a family suite which had a/c that was warm, very little light and a CAT in the room which I am allergic to. And day 1 is NOT over yet! Day 2 we went to the beach, which is absolutely gorgeous, while waiting to be transferred to our new room. We had breakfast at the buffet, which was quite good, and FINALLY around 2:00 we were transferred to a swim up room with Oceanview, which was beautiful. In addition to the free upgrade the Manager, Lorna Clarke, comped us dinner on the beach for all the trouble. Unfortunately we were eaten alive by mosquitoes which put a damper on the evening.The rest of the trip went fairly smooth but I must say overall the food was not spectacular, except for the Asian restaurant which we ate at twice. Room service was very slow and not a very extensive lunch or dinner menu. The swim up pool bar was closed every day MON- Fri so if we wanted drinks we had to walk to the main ipool bar since there was also no one coming around for drink orders. Overall service was subpar except for Shantee at breakfast and QWayne at the Asian. They were outstanding. You are assigned a concierge at check in and other than our first 2 trouble days he never even bothered checking in with us via Whatsapp. While the beach and resort were beautiful (a lack of service on the beach as well) we will return to Negril but won't return to Azul Beach Resort.

    Best vacation ever!!

    Azul Beach Resort Negril gave myself and family/friends the best experience for our wedding vacation. My wedding was at this resort in May 2024 with 49 guests. What a time!! Beach: 5 star beach with beautiful calm water! The beach was just a 2 min walk from our room and was just stunning. The resort blocked a large space for us and guests for the entire week so we could all be together ! I thought this was an excellent add on and very guest oriented! Staff: Our butler Roxanne was fantastic! We can’t say enough positive about Roxanne. She was always the first person we saw in the morning and she was quick to have our towels set out every time! She would bring us the drinks she knew we loved. We had the best experience with her so a huge thank you to Roxanne! Travis and Dave were also so great to us while we were relaxing on the beach! Drinks were always in hand :) The entertainment staff: excellent. Bones was a laugh and very good at what he does. We loved the silent disco and karaoke! Our wedding: A huge thank you to Jenieve and Carla!! Our special day was so well organized and ran so smoothly! Jenieve made sure we were having the most enjoyable day and reminded us to stay calm, enjoy the moment. And that we did! Our ceremony on the sky deck was stunning!! The reception on the beach, stunning!! Catama: Stanley sea sports rocked! We had an awesome day snorkeling and partying on their catamaran! Very accommodating and allowed us to change plans to make our day better. Before we left we had read reviews concerned about the up keep and condition of this resort. I have to say, I cannot agree with these low star reviews! You can’t always trust these as we experienced none of what we read !thank you to Azul Beach Resort Negril!!!
