Travelling with Food Allergies? Dreams Onyx Delivers!
I have coeliac disease and severe food allergies, and the team at Dreams Onyx truly went above and beyond to keep me safe — and happy! Huge shoutout to the two incredible food concierges, Santo and Greg, as well as the amazing chefs who treated me like a princess. I felt safe, reassured, and the food was good and thoughtfully prepared. They even used WhatsApp to coordinate with me in advance and make sure they were present wherever I planned to eat. And even when I didn’t have my phone — they still managed to find me. Truly impressive! The lazy rivers were a big plus — they added variety and fun to the experience, making a 7-day stay at the same resort feel more entertaining and dynamic than just hanging around one or two regular pools all week. Beyond that: - Lovely staff, who were incredibly sweet with my child - Soft sand, fun pools, fun activities, and great water slides - Just the right amount of music to keep the vibe fun without being overwhelming Highly recommend — especially for people with dietary restrictions! Note: the beach had quite a bit of sargassum (seaweed) during our stay. If easy access to the ocean is important to you, I recommend checking online for the current sargassum conditions in Punta Cana before your trip — it can really vary depending on the season and weather.

Best Dreams Resort So Far
I have been to multiple Dreams and Secrets resorts, this was my favorite. The Blue Water Grill at this resort had steaks that were exceptional. The bartenders and staff went out of their way to give you exceptional service, especially our butler Aries. The buffet had a wide variety of different types of food. The kids care was very attentive to my nine-year-old special-needs son. He had a blast. I would go again anytime.

Mixed feelings
Mixed reviews here. Room smelled and was not attended to on arrival, old elastics with hair in the shower, moldy smell, and lack of attention to details like flowers in the vases. The beds were comfortable and the room stayed nice and cool with no humidity for the most part. We had the pool behind our room which was a great add on for throwing the football or night swims as the beach was unusable from the seaweed. The cliber of drinks was great and very yummy. The food was good, taco truck was a daily hit. So many options for small quick gets of food to a la carte options. Blue Water Grill was our preferred although CinCin was good too. There was attention to detai everywhere and someone was always cleaning or fixing or painting something. Service was slow for coffee and not always friendly. If you didn't tip all the time you felt it. The preferred club and non-preferred club feeling was obnoxious. I don't like feeling like I didn't pay enough to enough all aspects of a resort or the care of others because I needed to pay more. The entertainment was mixed some not great, some good and some great. The Queen show was very dynamic and well done, as was the fire show, shame it's so hard to see. The staff worked to rectify our situation with our room and while we appreciated the efforts, it took 24 hours before I was settled and unpacked which is not great when you're on vacation. The blue shirt people are omni present. They tried to talk to us on our first night when all I wanted was food having not eaten from the flight. My daughter felt compelled to bend to their pressure of having something special just for us if we go now, it was a teachable moment for her. Perhaps it is worth it for those who don't mind giving up their vacation time to hear a sales pitch to get money off massages or extra dollars for the casino. Wasn't worth the stress for me. The property is beautiful and so lush! Amazing plants everywhere. Waterslides were fun and the lazy river was great. We used the islands in the preferred pool for a quieter atmosphere and guaranteed chairs etc as the beach was unusable due to the smell from the seaweed and the piles of seaweed. They were enjoyable. Overall, a good trip, but won't go back. Too far from all excusions and airport. Add 45 minutes to everything for that. And, really don't like the preferred customer treatment.
