One of our fave places!
I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was extremely friendly. Room was beautiful! Pools were gorgeous! Alcohol was flowing! Had a real great time! Room was spacious. Bathroom was stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of items in the mini refrigerator and we never had issues when we asked for refills. Make sure to "take care" of the staff and they will treat you well.
We will be back!
Stayed here as an early anniversary trip with my husband March 8-13. We were upgraded to a preferred club ocean view room which was great because I had tried to upgrade our room a couple of weeks before we got there and that category was sold out. The upgrade was free, but we couldn't use the preferred club lounge or pool area, which was fine. Not sure if we were upgraded because I'm a travel agent or just because the regular junior suites were full. Our room wasn't ready when we got there but we had swimsuits, shorts, sandals, etc. handy to change into. Grabbed a couple of drinks at the lobby bar, wandered around for a bit, had lunch and went to the pool. Lots of activities going on all over the resort all day. We played golf one day and that course is amazing. All food/drinks included in your greens fees. Staff was very friendly at all of the food/drink stops and in the club house. I wish we had decided to play another day. The room was great. We never ran out of anything besides beer, but room service was quick to bring more. The only downside was that they would only bring Corona to the room and my husband was really enjoying the Pacifico Light since we can't get it at home. The room was always clean. One night they even put rose petals on the bed and made up a bubble bath for us for our anniversary. Overall the resort was great. Of course being in San Jose del Cabo the beach wasn't swimmable, but there is a spot that is swimmable and it's only a 10 minute walk from the resort. When we visit again, we will do the art night in town because people went ON AND ON about how great it was! We were bummed we missed out! We stayed at Secrets Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon in April 2018 and enjoyed both resorts! Similar concept, but unique in their own ways! We will go back to Cabo and stay at Secrets.
A generally nice stay March 14-21, 2020
This was our fourth visit to SPLC and we enjoyed a nice week with just a few issues. Due to the expanding pandemic, the resort was not crowded at all. Early during our stay the staff was indicating about 30% occupancy which dropped to about 10% by the time we left. Transportation from the airport to the resort was via TransCabo in a nice SUV. Arrived to be greeted with sparkling wine and checked in with the front desk. Presented a voucher we purchsed for a couples massage and informed by the desk agent the voucher had been cancelled becuase I had purcased it for my adult son and he chose not to travel and we cancelled the second room several days earlier. Desk staff couldn't assist with the refund of the spa treatement even though I booked directly through the resort website. Insisted I had to call the toll free number. A week and a half later, after speaking with a representative and being promised a call back or email, nothing. Room: We had three in our seven night stay. Originally booked a garden view swim out and received just that. Inquiry of desk agent to purchase Preferred Club access who responded that wasn't possible. Okay, no problem. Saving me some cash. Our room was on the first floor of building two and was fine, until it wasn't. The morning after our second night, I got out of bed to find two of the largest cockroaches I've ever seen in my life. I put a glass over each one and my wife snapped a couple pictures to give to the desk. Desk agent came to our cabana and told me they would move us to an ocean view swim out in building 5 which they did. Asked them to remove the roaches before we went back to pack and they assured me they had already done that. Back at the room to re-pack and move and roaches had not been removed. Second room was superior and no roach issues (they were spraying the room when we arrived with our luggage). Spent a couple nights in that room when the desk called and said we had to move again, this time due to a power issue that was going to occur in building 5. I assume they were trying to consolodate folks into just a couple buildings due to very low occupancy but that isn't what they said. Third and final room was an ocean view swim out in building 6 with preferred club access. Room was nice. Pool: We reserved a cabana at the main pool for each day of our stay. It was nice and definitely worth the $50 daily charge. Pool drink service was excellent and the pooll butlers were attentive, although they generally arrived after we did so we set up our own cabana most days. We ended up relocating cabanas during our stay on two occasions, the first was when a group rented the cabana next to us with the entire buch smoking and using the pool deck around us as their ashtray while blasting their personal sound system. Butler happily accomodated our relocation request. The resort did waive the cabana fee for useage subsequent to the cockroach issue so we only paid for 3 of 7 rental days which was a nice gesture. Meals: The food is generally good at SPLC. We dined at all of the restaurants with the exception of Oceana. Breakfast at the buffet was fine most mornings, with the last few being ala carte off a menu I assume due to low occupancy. Lunches were at Seaside Grill and were fine. We had a couple dinners at Himitsu, El Patio and Portofino. Made a reservation for Himitsu teppan table at 9:00 a.m. on our second morning. No problem we thought. Mid day, the desk calls and says our reservation is cancelled-- with no explanation. Ridiculous. So I proceed to the desk to inquire where Gustavo looks me in the eye and says "Your reservation is cancelled. And there is nothing I'm going to do for you." Pretty harsh, huh? I told him to send the manager to speak with me. He sent a fellow front desk staff member who suddenly was able to confirm our prevoiusly made reservation. She also happened to be the desk agent that ended up handling our cockroach issue. All three restaurants provided good service and good food. We enjoyed each experience. Grounds: The grounds at this location are very nice. Well maintainted and as the years have passed, the foilage has matured nicely. Bars: We had one drink at the Barefoot bar and enjoyed it. We spent most evenings at the Bird Cage bar and had good service and enjoyed the entertainment. We didn't visit the night club this trip. Overall, we had a nice time and commend the staff (with the exception of Gustavo) for working under uncertain circumstances. I believe the resort is now temporarily closed. We're approaching 100 nights at AM Resort properties and with the exception of some small missteps, things are generally very good.
We are hear and feel safe
This is a beautiful property and are having a great time. It is just a shame that the resort is almost empty. Everyone is afread to trave. We booked this trip on Tuesday, got here on Thursday, checked in and every ghing at the resort was normal except there were hardy any guests. On the flights down the plains were 2/3rds empty and we saw lots of people in the airports with masks on. But everything was working. From parking the car, chech in, security, everything worked, yes the food was take out (at the airport more like take away, you can't go far). People were being smzrt. The hotel has been wonderful. We got a room upgrade but later they czme to us and said thar after Sunday we were the only guests and thay their company were consolidating all thev3 resorts in Caco down to one. They sre taking care of us (transfers, compensation, upgrades) and are not kiking us out to the street. We will still have a good, save, vacation. We are in Mexico where they have less cases of the corona virus then back home and it is the hot weather down here now rather then having to wait for it to change back in Maryland.
Fantastic service at the Oceana throughout our stay in Los Cabos. Very friendly people. Elias has been fantastic making our experience at the Oceana one to remember. He made our visit to the Oceana restaurant so special by sorting out a romantic dinner just for us, We had an Excellent service from Havier who was our waiter for the evening, he was very polite and so friendly. I also want to mention MarieClaude she is always so friendly when welcoming you in for the evening and they make you feel so special.
