EXCELLENT RESORT (& VEGAN FRIENDLY)
Trip Advisor: ROOM: After reading numerous horrifying reviews about the Residence Building at Reflect Kyrstal Grand we upgraded our room a day prior to departure. We paid an additional $150 ish (per person) and booked a junior oceanview suite in the main tower, and oh boy was it worth it! The view was breathtaking, the furniture was modern and new, and the decor was tasteful. It was also spotless and cleanliness wasn’t an issue. During our trip, we spoke to a couple who was booked in the residence tower for two weeks, they confirmed it was a 1 star atmosphere and after seeing their room they asked the front desk to upgrade. Apparently no other rooms besides the most luxurious suites were available so the trip ended up costing them $7000 after upgrading. Based on this information, I’d highly suggest booking a Junior oceanview suite in the main tower before departure. FOOD: The food and hospitality was by far THE. BEST. PART. of our stay. Considering I’m vegan, I anticipated having to be a fruititarian on this trip and was totally okay with this. Perhaps I had low expectations because I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of vegan options available at the resort. Within minutes of requesting to speak to chef about my dietary needs the director of food at the resort, Eduardo, kindly greeted us and explained that the resort’s culinary team would be more than willing to accommodate me and also make me anything I’d like. I believe the culinary team has some sort of group chat because after this conversation, every head waiter and manager at every restaurant knew of my dietary needs and accommodated them. For breakfast, I would have a speciality coffee with soy milk or almond milk at Coco Cafe (just ask for whichever nondairy milk you prefer). Additionally, Antonio, the chef at the buffet, would prepare the most delicious vegan crepes for me filled with vegetables and also made vegan pancakes for me as well. I would simply tell him what I wanted and he would make it fresh and especially for me, served hot on my table within 15 minutes or less. For lunch, I ate at Surfos snack bar where I ate veggie salad, guacamole and chips and the most delicious and flavourful vegan sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich had grilled vegetables, onion, tomato and was very well seasoned and flavoured. I also ate at the buffet one day where a chef made me a delicious pasta dish. For dinner, I had an overwhelming amount of options. I ate at the Italian restaurant, Risotto, and the Japanese restaurant, Ayami, a couple times as well as the buffet once and the Mexican restaurant once. More shoutouts: Risotto: Alejandro, the general manager at this restaurant went out of his way for me. He made me the most delicious vegan pasta dishes and was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about vegan options. Ayami: Amada was the general manager at this restaurant and her and her team literally prepared a 6 COURSE VEGAN DINNER for me that was the most memorable and over the top meal I had while at the resort! It was truly fantastic! Eduardo also coordinated making vegan churros for me that showed up for dessert at this restaurant because vegan churros are my favourite. Buffet: Rafael was a chef in the buffet that made breakfasts for me daily ... he’s fantastic and was always happy to create the most delicious vegan meals for me! DRINKS: Ivan made me the most delicious pink drink with a lime flower on top he also made us incredible tequila shots with cinnamon. We had lots of great conversations with him! PROPERTY: The property was lush, well-maintained and filled with an abundance of tropical flora and fauna. It is architecturally well designed and had several thoughtful touches (cute bridges, seating surrounded by water, etc). Overall: We had an amazing stay and cannot wait to go back!
Great resort, great value, great staff
Myself and two friends stayed here for a week in March 2019 for a "spring break" trip. We had a blast. The drinks were strong, and the food was great. The staff members are all super nice and fun. We loved hanging out by the fire pits on the beach at night. The bar by the non-adults-only pool had great tacos, and the adults-only pool was a nice touch, too. We loved the room service, especially for nights where we just wanted to eat while we got ready instead of taking the time to go to one of the restaurants. We loved it!!
Little Gem with the greatest staff!!
We visited March 13-22/20 right in the midst of the travel bans starting. This resort is great, very clean, easy to walk around to everything, lots of great food, the staff are fantastic, friendly and very very helpful. We had rooms in the residence tower that were just perfect, plenty of room, very clean, the king size bed was so very comfy. The only downfall was the traffic noise from highway but that was easily taken care of by closing the outside door. When reading other reviews people were concerned of the location of the residence tower but let me tell you I’ve had longer walks in a parking lot to get where I’m going. You come out the doors walk across a small street and your right there... Tapas and martini bar, El Mortero restaurant, Risotto restaurant, time out sports bar, The Grill and the adults only pool...really what more do you need. If you want to go to Surfos snack bar (must have the fish tacos and cheese burger...yummy!) or the family pools it’s just a quick step past the Palmilla tower and your there. Buffet O is right there as well just off the pools. Definitely need to reserve a spot at the tables for Ayami restaurant they did a great job and very interactive. They have daily activities on the hour and if you have time sit back and relax and paint yourself a souvenir( we did a surf boards and a piggy bank). Eventually due to the amount of people at the resort leaving due to Covid19 they upgraded us to a junior suite which was good as well but had double beds not a king. That way they were going to start maintenance and clean of the tower. When we arrived at the resort it was busy and hoping for sure by the time we left(a day earlier then we expected) the resorts occupancy was down to around 12% and the staff were still so upbeat and helpful and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking to travel into Los Cabos. It’s basically 15 mins either way to San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas.
We were all set to stay here from 3/28-4/2 2020 celebrating my 61st birthday. We researched this resort and found it to be the best place for our annual vacation to Mexico. We booked 10 months in advance and excitedly planned and looked forward to the date to arrive. We live in Minnesota and of course yearned for sunshine and ocean breezes. We read some iffy reviews and thought...these people have got to be 'spoiled' how can you not love welcoming people, warm weather and the smell of ocean in the air? Bad reviews do not deter us. we've seen them before. We are grateful for all that Mexico offer and have stayed at many wonderful resorts. This year was our worst nightmare. We never imagined our vacation would be cancelled due to an epidemic called Corona Virus. Our dreams were dashed. 😔 fortunately Delta Vacations have completely covered our trip and we can rebook ASAP when it is safe again. We are definitely looking at Reflect Krystal again and will probably book for two weeks next time. I felt the need to write this review because we never know what cards we will be dealt. Be grateful for what you have and the blessing to be able to travel to a place like San Jose Del Cabo or anywhere. We all need each other. Mexico needs us and I know that we need them. See you in 2021 Reflect Krystal Grand!
Pretty good, but not perfect
We stayed 3 nights at the Reflect Crystal Grand hotel. We wanted to be in the Altitude section, but my girlfriend doesn't walk well, and that would have been a long walk for her, so arrangements were made for us to be in a swim out room (4116) in the main building, with Altitude club access. We were warned that the pool for this room was cold, and they gave us a price break to compensate for it. This was all done by Fernanda at the front desk, who worked for quite a while to get us situated and satisfied. Gracias, Fernanda. Our swim out room had a king bed, TV, A/C, a 2 seat sofa bed, table and 4 chairs, small fridge (stocked with beer, soda, and water), electronic safe (at eye level), iron and ironing board, 2 robes, a one cup coffee maker, and lots of plugs for charging things. The bathroom had a shower only, with 2 different shower heads. Outside, there were 2 low lounge chairs and a table in the shallow water. We did not use any of the pools, as the weather was rather chilly. The Altitude lounge in our building was used a lot by us, both for the premium drinks, and the snack food they had there. There were 3 fire pits at the hotel, which they turned on at 8 PM. And I really liked the big hats, that the luggage guys wore. They were constantly parading past our room, as they escorted guests to the Altitude building. Some things were not so good -- 1) One bedside lamp always went out when the overhead light was turned off. 2) I looked for jam or jelly for my toast the first morning, and couldn't find any. Another guest says it should be on your table, and kindly brought some from her table to me. Other days there was jelly on the table. 3) The martini/tapas bar got my martini order wrong, when we ordered 2 martinis, and it was a slow period. (And the service was slow, too). 4) The Mexican restaurant seemed very small, and the food was not exceptional. 5) We did the time share presentation (at another property) just to get a price break on our rental car. But (as expected) it was a long, hard sell that wasted 4 hours. But overall, we enjoyed our stay and would come back again.
