Have not refunded me for my cancelled trip during COVID
I booked a trip for April 24. I cancelled it March 20, due to COVID. I was told I would see a refund within 10 days. Once I inquired about not seeing it, they said it would be UP to 90 days before they could issue the refund. It is now June 30, and they have not refunded my money back. I have emailed, called, and messaged on Social media. They have stolen my money!!
Didn't care for the staff
The hotel is beautiful, mostly quiet and very clean. I am giving two starts based on the staff. The staff was disingenuous, they talked & criticized some of the guest while smiling at them or behind their backs. They didn't know I spoke Spanish. Twice during breakfast and Lunch while waiting for our turn to sit I heard the hostess and another staff member talking about some of the guests as they came back from walking them to their table. In another occasion they laughed as they walked behind the guest commenting on their appearance. Of course, this will not be the same experience for everyone, but being that I have been to a lot of resorts, this one didn’t feel welcoming and was really missing that vacation vibe you get when you are at a resort. I just can’t recommend.
The best vacation ever!
Me and my boyfriend stayed at Secrets the Vine from March 18, 2020-March 24th. We had booked our original stay through a travel agency, but when we got to Mexico we learned the agency canceled our hotel stay at The Vine, and had not returned our money. After speaking with The Vine front desk they were understanding, and although we had to pay for our stay again (!!) the resort was extremely helpful during the process. We stayed in a beachfront room, with absolutely breathtaking views. There are many food options, but we recommend Bluewater Grille. Make sure you ask for Javier and Jorge as your waiters. They were fantastic and had my boyfriend wanting to only eat there our entire trip! The beach is gorgeous and there are multiple bars by the pools. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful. Everyone was so nice and willing to answer all our questions. I wish there was more nightlife at the resort, but besides that this is the perfect relaxing getaway.

My mom & I went to the Vines for a mother/daughter trip. The biggest negative was the number of levels/steps/stairs to navigate. The hotel is beautiful and I realize the elevations were likely unavoidable, but worth mentioning. The entertainment options were fantastic and lots of fun! A special shout out to Roger Pech & David Ramos at Nebbiolo! We received unbelievable service, managed by Ithiel. First class! Wonderful service and much appreciation to Alejandro at Blue Water Grill and Fausto at Market Cafe. Gonzalo & Roberto & Norberto at the beach & pool were awesome as well! Thank you for a memorable trip!
Every detail is beautiful
This resort is fabulous. From the private 12th floor pool to the ocean facing deck chairs, every detail is beautiful. If you or a travel partner are interested in architecture, this is the place for you. I don’t know if I have ever seen a more stunning exterior. The decor in side will take your breath away. I highly recommend the daily wine tasting, the someliers are very knowledgeable and it is a great experience. Dragons, is a fabulous restaurant, and the most beautiful of all of the dining rooms. Unfortunately two of the other restaurants, while having fantastic food, are oddly positioned within the property and as such, don’t have a view or any natural breeze. They are still well worth the visit, the service at the steak house is impeccable and the food at the Italian room, is exceptionally good. We had lunch every day at the outdoor Mediterranean grill and both the view and the food were extremely enjoyable. If you are at the 12th floor pool, I highly recommend the noodle and steak salad, by a long mile the next food, I have ever been served poolside. Get a side of homemade hummus with it, it’s worth the calories. We enjoyed the spa, the area for relaxing in the back near the hot tubs, has several semi-private seats, in sets of two, set over a beautiful rock bed, with a view that will take your breath away. Every room in this hotel is beautiful but spring for the upgrade and get yourself on a higher floor. The view stretched fro the sunrise over the ocean to colorful sunsets over the lagoon. Highly recommend! This would normally not apply to a general stay, but my only complaint was that we happened to be here in the midst of the Coronavirus and the hotel (most and then all hotels) had to close in the middle of our 2 week stay. They gave us a credit for the lost nights less one which they charged us for a one nights stay in a much less nice (although still nice enough) hotel. The hotels are not equivalent in terms of cost, amenities or level of service. I do not think that they should have charged us this night given the inconvenience and the lessor quality of the hotel we were transferred to. I have tried to get this fixed but their decision, is firm. I feel strongly that this decision does not reflect the level of service that the rest of our experience contained. None the less, I recommend this hotel strongly.
