    Excellent vacation

This was the best vacation in my life. I really enjoyed food, atmosphere, people (local were top level), live music each night at Lobby bar, beer, beach, sea and so much kind everywhere! I really want thanks to local guys who worked at hotel Lobby bar and 1 guy from the Orchideu restaurant, they were amazing and so kind to me always: Alton Harrison, Monica Henry, Lamoya White, Nicola, Ashantee, Tracey-Ann Traille and Romario at the beach bar on the left side. I really recommend this place to you guys who go solo here, its a such good vibes and sun, water 25 C, Jamaican Chicken, and yea, you everywhere smell the local smoke of the green one. Next year im coming back ya man!

    Mixed experience

I was a solo traveller here and I probably wouldn't book again unless it was on the luxury adults only side. I accept that this is probably my own fault for booking this side but there was practically nothing here that caters to couples, single sex groups or solo travellers. There are no adults only sections of the pool or restaurants and the only events or activities for adults were at past 10pm at night. It created a bit of a weird atmosphere where there is a foam party going on in the pool with adult music and adults who were drunk and dancing around the pool with toddlers thrown in to the mix! I turned up to the beach party on the Saturday advertised at 8pm and realised that it was actually being run by the kids club and had to come back 2 hours later when this had finished. There is nowhere to have a quiet relaxing or romantic meal without being surrounded by children. I was also in a room next to the 'nightclub' where they have the disco and music was absolutely blasting and shaking the room until midnight, it actually woke me up on one occasion. I didn't mind but if i had had children with me i would have been annoyed that they were being woken up! The room its-self was also a bit of a disappointment. The shower head holder was broken so you had to hold the shower head to have a shower. The curtains were filthy and there was no main light in the room for some reason, only lamps so it was a bit dark and cave like. There was also no full length mirror in the room which was rather annoying. I also noticed that one of the sheets had a mould patch and another one had a hole in it. I also thought that it was a bit cheeky to charge 120 dollars a day to use the comfy day beds around the pool. The only other option was cheap plastic sun loungers. The food was just ok, the breakfasts were very good but the meats such as the curry chicken were very greasy and swimming in oil. The food at the knife restaurant was awful and I couldn't eat it. The staff were very friendly, especially the staff around the pool and as they noticed that I was on my own made an effort to talk to me which I appreciated. Overall, I probably wouldn't return. There are newer, more modern up to date hotels in the area that this hotel can no longer compete with without some major investment and improvement. I definitely wouldn't recommend to any couples or same sex groups or even solo travellers unless you are staying on the adults only side.

Dated and Noisy with rude staff !

I wanted to give some feedback from our stay 26MAY-02JUN. First impressions count, and unfortunately being made to wait until 4.10pm because our room wasn’t ready was not on, after a long flight and having 2 children it was the last thing we needed. Finally once in our room we realised how disgusting condition the bathroom was in, ok it was old but there was no excuse for the mould on the ceilings or around the bath, it needed a good scrub(see pics) The shower panel was falling apart and mirror had see better days. I accept it wont be perfect but this was of a poor standard for a so called 5* hotel ? On check-in the receptionist offered if we would like the room decorated with balloons/banner for our daughters birthday, of course we thought this would be lovely. This sadly wasn’t done on the day, I called and asked if it could be done whilst we were at dinner that night, we came back and it hadn’t been done. The good news was it was done 2 days AFTER her birthday, a bottle of champagne for an 11 year old !!! This to me was an insult. Luckily my 11 year old daughter agreed it was really poorly handled by the staff. Next, I have never met so many rude staff, you were lucky if you get a hello or good morning. On a number of occasions we were ignored by the staff, and it only seemed the staff in the A-la carte restaurants cared as they wanted tips. A couple of times we were at the swim up bar (the quiet one) and were the only ones there, the 2 bar staff ignored us (being English), and an American man swam up to the bar, a massive fuss was made and his drink was waiting. It seems to us and the couple of other English families we spoke to that felt the same as us that US/Canadians/Locals were favoured over the English. Whilst in the Pisces restaurant for lunch and being ignored by the waiters as it was a staff members birthday we saw some locals on the tables next to us filling up foil with chickens and going around the other tables put scraps off plates into their bags, this was weird behaviour, they were giving empty bottle to the waiters who were getting the filled up at the bar with rum punch !! I was just jealous as it took 20mins to get a coke bought to our table ! This also made us question the security of the hotel. The family next to us at lunch also agreed they have never seen anything like this before. I spoke with guest services about it later that day to raise my concerns. We also noticed a school using the pool, whilst I understand the local children need to go somewhere we have paid a lot of money to stay at a 5* hotel you do not expect this. I shall be feeding back all of this to the travel company we booked through, please pass this on to the Hotel management and I shall await a response before posting on trip advisor. As you can tell we were bitterly disappointed, and we were really looking forward to this vocation and it cost a small fortune. I’ve sent this direct to hotel, unfortunately I’ve had no response!

    A Gand Stay Everytime

This visit made it our third stay at The Bahia and we had another great stay. I would like to thank Julie at the Front Desk/Guest Services for making our visit a great experience. Julie you went above and beyond and gave us the best vacation we ever had. ❤️ The management should take you into consideration when it comes to moving up. Julie had a newly renovated room ready for our family. Unfortunately we asked for a move because we actually loved the old rooms more. But that's just us. The ocean front room was a beautiful room. From a family that lives in an urban city we stare out at buildings 24/7 so looking at the Caribbean sea for 6 days gives us peace. Little things like this make a vacation. The Bahias new restaurant was very accomodating and enjoyable for a morning breakfast. The Pisces restaurant for lunch with a views also enjoyable. Demar took minutes out of his schedule to talk Youtube with my two sons. They had chats about Skibbidy Toilet boys Ayden and Avery always look out for Demar. Romario at the beach bar remembered me and the family as well. Thank-you Rome from Trini Bwoy. Alex and Clark in The Knife restaurant made our dinners memorable. The staff at the Lobby Bar made our night time hangouts fun. They introduced us to some fun new shots and tropical drinks we never had before but now can't wait to try again. Kevin aka MC Kevin had the pool bumping with his MC skills and the dj alongside him made the Foam Party 🥳 🎉 Bless up Kevin! When we return Im djn at that pool party! I send this message to the great people at The Bahia Principe. We love you all and we will be back to see you all soon. One love Ronnie Tracy Ayden and Avery ❤️

    Rude staff, basic food

I don't know how they list as a 5 star resort or how they got 4.8 rating, this place is far from it. Staff is rude, some are very nice, they got a tip, but most look like they are forced to be there because they are paid very little from what other staff told me. After some rude encounters, i asked for a manager, 1 girl went to the left, and another girl came out and asked if i needed help, i told her i was waiting for a manager, she went to the right and got some other worker claiming to be a manager, so they don't even know who the manager is or the manager doesn't want to talk to anyone. very little if any A/C in the bar, restaurant, main buffet, and theatre. Hey why not sweat while you try to enjoy the basic food they have. The bars throw crappy drinks together. Food was basic, only thing i really liked was the jerk chicken from the jerk grill I think next to the pool. They buffet focuses on quantity, not quality of the food. But there a 5 star resort. lol. Rooms were ok, my shower door was about to fall off. The theatre shows were a joke, boring, we walked out of all them, plus hot as hell in there. I am sure there is more, but overall this place sucks for the money you pay. also Shelly Ann at the Mikada restaurant, my parents went and she was so rude so they just got up and left. Everyone I spoke with has similar experiences with the rude staff so I know it's not me.
