We just came back from a Week long trip with some friends and we loved Live Aqua resort in Cancun. We are already planning on coming back hopefully very soon. First of all I want to CONGRATULATE and send kudos to our Concierge Oliver who did an exceptional job keeping us happy and making himself available at all times. Outstanding service! We will definitely come back and look for him. He is a great facilitator. From making breakfasts-dinner reservations to giving us activities options for our trip. Also our man in the Pool/ Cabanna area Pedro, with exceptional service. He had our drinks even before we had to order them. Great guy! We made this trip during the Pandemic to celebrate my birthday on July 31st and we felt very safe. All the staff at Live Aqua it’s very friendly and eager to help you when you need. The Staff are following safety precautions perfectly. They check your temperature and maintain face mask all the time to protect all guests. They follow social distancing protocols to ensure everybody is safe. There are great restaurants with a variety of options and great taste. Our favorite was “Hidden Garden” excellent Asian food. Also we tried “MB” great gourmet cuisine which I loved. They even let me play the piano on my birthday, we had blast. The Sushi station its perfect for a snack. No need to look anywhere else, Live Aqua has it all.
I stayed at Live Aqua in 2019 pre-covid and July 2020 during covid. This property is super prepared to welcome guests during this trying time. All staff wear masks, face shields, and gloves 100% of the time. Even the cabs they call for you follow the same protocol and disinfect their vehicles before each new pickup. The grounds are pristine and well-kept. While the swim-up bar was closed, there was no shortage of staff manning the beach and pool area offering to get you beverages. Further, there is an operational bar right by the pool, so you will not be inconvenienced. The food was fair, but definitely do not miss breakfasts at Siete (seriously, it's a must-do). There are a few vendors that will approach you on the beach, but the products are worthwhile to hear about. They have many excursions and sports to offer at very reasonable prices. While I know its a bit costly, spring for Aqua Club access. It comes complete with a bar, comfy seating with amazing views, and the most warm and welcoming staff. No matter what, bartender Guillermo WILL make sure your time is well spent! While I cannot remember all the Aqua Club staff names, each and every one made the stay truly worth it (I was blasted most the time, haha). The icing on the cake was PR Manager Sophie. She is a fine example of hospitality management and excellence. I encountered one misunderstanding regarding my daily room credit (they DO NOT aggregate, you MUST spend your daily credit daily). She so expertly crafted a fair resolution of the misunderstanding and I was certainly satisfied. It began as a real painpoint for me, but thanks to Sophie, I have been well-retained as a returning guest. While the price point on this property is astronomical, it is well-justified. Live Aqua is probably the best all-inclusive in the area. You so get what you pay for. This property is truly all-inclusive (room service, premium alcohol, minibar in room, etc.). The only reason why I cannot give a 5/5 is because there were a few misses when it came to dining. Often the dish resulting from my order was not as expected and room service was a little less-than consistent. I attribute this to the process changes due to covid. Prior to covid, the food was better than fair. I'll certainly will be returning.
Best Food and Resort Service in Cancun
We just spent 5 awesome days at the Live Aqua Resort in Cancun. We stayed in a King, oceanfront room at a great discounted price. It was not crowded (probably 50% occupancy) which made it easy to get restaurant reservations and the free poolside chairs and umbrellas. The best spots are taken by 8:30 each day. The pool is by far the best attraction at the resort with its infinity pool and gorgeous views. Drink service was exceptional at the pool each day with Andres often bringing you your favorite drink before you even asked! Also, Mariana was exceptional and fun at the bar outside of the MB restaurant. She makes some really great flaming coffee drinks as well. And, of course the MB food was by far the best at the resort. And, just like everyone, we LOVED the Habanero Soup!!! And, our BEST WAITER was Rohibi, who helped us make some great choices on our food selection, including the amaretto soup dessert. YUM! The beaches were very clean and there were vendors for parasailing and jet skis. We got very lucky and were able to go out at night and see the sea turtles hatching and one night saw 4 mother turtles come in the lay their eggs. Awwesome! Not much else in the way of sports activities. They could use some free paddle boards, kayaks, and volleyball. Also, very few activities around the main pool and no music at the main pool area. In addition to Rohibi, Mariana, and Andres, the smoothie guy was also a big hit with everyone. Lastly, the fitness center situation needs to be improved. It was basically inaccessible without reserving at time 3 days in advance due to only allowing 5 people to use the facilty for 30 minutes and then shut it down for 30 minutes for cleaning. A better solution needs to be implemented.
Just when you think it can't get any better
Just returned from a week long stay with some friends and I'm already looking forward to my next visit (hopefully very soon). WOW WOW WOW is all I can say. I felt safer here than back home with all the health/safety precautions they're taking during the Covid-19 crisis. They check guests temperatures before they're even out of the shuttle, all staff wear PPE inside and out. Guests are asked to wear masks in the hotel common areas as well but not outside. The number of pool beds and chairs have been reduced to help with social distancing efforts. A couple of restaurants weren't open but there were plenty of choices with a variety of food. We stayed in a Premium Gardenview room on the 2nd floor for the first 2 nights and upgraded to an Aqua Suite on the 6th floor for the remaining 5 nights. All rooms are very nice inside but if you do have the opportunity to upgrade or book one of the suites it's worth it. We enjoyed having the large private patio, separate living/bedroom areas and 2 bathrooms. Plus, it comes with Aqua Club access on the 5th floor and a complimentary reserved cabana each day (you choose your location based on availability and what area of the pools or beach you prefer to be, we switched it up each day). Hidden Garden was a fav for dinner Shrimp Pad Thai was my go to twice during our stay. We also tried MB twice for their Habanero Creme Soup. Some menu items were limited but we were able to view all menus on our phones. Pool/Cabana/Housekeeping/Front Desk/Aqua Club/Bar/Food service...OUTSTANDING!! Alan, Andres, Marysol, Daniel and Pedro are just a few names I can recall but kudos to the entire staff for taking such good care of us. Sophie, thank you for promptly addressing the window covering issue we experienced in our suite. This place is ranked very high among travelers and these are just a handful of reasons why. I could go on and on about everything they have to offer but if you do your research like I do before deciding on a place to stay, each review will give you the info you need to make you realize LA is not to be missed.
Best Adults only Resort
Sorry for the late review of our March trip. Want to thank the outstanding staff in the Aqua Club: Sophie Pimentinha, Daniel Lazaro Rabelo and Yerania. The newly remodeled suites are awesome. Service and food were beyond great as always. These people are our family and we are treated as such. Nothing more wonderful in life as sitting on your balcony with morning coffee watching the sunrise over the beautiful blue water. Current update: just arrived home from our 4th trip last week. We were above impressed with the measures taken during Covid-19. Much safer at Live Aqua Resort than in Illinois USA. This trip we booked a regular room as when we booked only 2 floors were open. Same wonderful experience as you are treated the same no matter your room type. So happy to see family again and provide them some extra love and support during this unusual time. Yes there are a few things different to accommodate social distancing such as getting a reservation for dinner or setting your time to use the gym. This is for everyone's protection and is very easy to complete. We found that the staff is even more attentive than normal which is hard to image as service is always outstanding anyway! Want to shout out to some wonder staff that made this trip awesome for us. Jonathan Chaire's team especially Katia Vidana, our server at MB Rogelio for the wonderful mango dessert and the Mayan Coffee, Mauricio Chable, and last but not least our favorite bartender Crecencio. Additionally it was amazing to watch Marisol Marin workout on the beach to stay in top form for her lifeguard position. There are so many others working hard here to make your stay memorable so shout out to entire staff and many thanks. Much Love Laura
