Awesome group of people watching over the kids! They keep them entertained and have a different schedule daily. My kids really enjoyed it! All the employees were amazing! It really helped us parents enjoy the trip while the kids had fun as well.

    Excellent exerience

We have recently returned from the Iberostar Selection Cancun, our first trip to Mexico, getting through immigration at the airport took some time but fortunately the hotel is not far from the airport. We arrived at about 18:00, as Iberostar Club members we taken to the Star Prestige lounge by Alexandr, the SP Manager, who checked us in and explained that the room we had requested, a sea view suite with king size bed on an upper floor wasn’t available, the only one with a king size bed was on the 2nd floor with not a very good view so they had given us a room on the 8th floor with two double beds with the option to change the following day to a suite on the 9th with a king size bed. After checking in, Alexandr gave us a tour of the hotel, on the website it looks very large but in reality, whilst large it is quite compact. Following his tour all we wanted to do was get our luggage and go to eat as we had had a 10 hour flight from the UK. The room overlooked the sea on one side and on the other side had a private terrace that looked over the Nichupte Lagoon. As part of Iberostar’s sustainability drive there was no bottled water in the room but glass bottles were provided and there was a water and ice dispenser just down the corridor from our room, beer and soft drinks were in the fridge. We had dinner in the buffet restaurant and were welcomed by Cesar, who informed us that it was seafood night in the buffet, with a large selection of Caribbean lobster, shrimps, mussels, clams, etc, plus lots of other choices. Next morning at breakfast we were shown to the Star Prestige area in the restaurant and our waiter Edgar who asked if we wanted mimosa’s and told us that in addition to the buffet there was a menu to choose from so I had freshly cooked eggs benedict. Down to the beach next, we went to the Star Prestige area where we had one of the beds on the decking looking over the beach, drinks were served by Israel and Yul. The sea was a bit rough the first few days with some sargassam on the beach but it we were still able to go in the sea, the second week the sea was calmer, but i was constant sun, which is what we went for. That evening we dined in the American Bistro, we both had crispy fried onion to start but we thought it could n=have done with being cooked for a bit longer, my wife then had fried Cornish chicken and I had beef braised short ribs which were very tender. Our waiter, another Cesar, was very good and friendly and kept our drinks topped up. After dinner we went in the lobby bar but it was very busy s we went to the Star Prestige lounge for a nightcap. Next morning breakfast again with Edgar our waiter and down to the beach where we met Alvin our beach concierge, he was extremely helpful from providing towels, information and arranging tables for dinner. Dinner that night in the Italian restaurant was very good, and became our preferred restaurant. The following days were similar, breakfast in the buffet with Edgar as our waiter, dinner at the various restaurants, Japanese, good performance by the chef and good food, the Steak restaurant, food OK, Italian, as mentioned above, very good and best service; American bistro, beef short ribs and St. Louis ribs very good, served by Cesar twice, very good service. Mexican restaurant, service good but we were disappointed with the food which was a sharing platter that we didn’t really enjoy so we didn’t go there again. Alvin heard that we were disappointed with the Mexican restaurant so he arranged for the Star Prestige chef to cook us a Yucatan fish specialty for us at lunch time. One day we visited the Cancun Mayan Museum, which was 15 minute walk from the hotel, there were boards on the walls around the museum detailing the Mayan history and the history of Quintana Roo, the writing was in both Spanish and English. The display cabinets held many artefacts but the descriptions were all in Spanish. There were tools, cooking utensils, jewellery, carvings from the buildings and sections of stonework. Following the museum visit you are directed to walk through the forest area to see the remains of Mayan buildings, the walk culminates at a small pyramid. there are description boards by the buildings that are in English. Watch out for the numerous Iguana's that sun themselves on the buildings and pathways through the forest. Another day we walked the other way from the hotel to visit the EL Rey architectural site, there were far more remains of buildings there but no museum. Most of our contact was with Star Prestige staff, although all the staff we encountered were very friendly. Staff worthy of mentions, Martha, Alexandr, Ijtai, Javier, Gerardo and Ivan in the Star Prestige reception, Edgar and Angel in the buffet restaurant, Cesar and Salma at the American Bistro, Omar at the Steak restaurant and Daniel at the Japanese restaurant. Particular mention must be made of the staff at the SP beach area, Alvin, who was especially helpful, Israel and Yul. It was our first visit to Mexico but we will return to the Iberostar Selection Cancun.

    Star Camp was great!

Star camp was amazing. Our son loved it. They had activities planned daily all throughout the day. They played in the pool, had lunches and went to the beach for sand castle building. Thank you Casandra, Yadira, Gabriela, Paloma, Alexandro, Fernanda.

    Star Camp was great!!!

We loved the hotel and we totally loved Star camp for our 4 year old daughter! She had a great time. Everyone was super nice, very attentive and I felt like she was well taken care of. You can drop them off at 9:30 and pick them up anytime until 5pm. Our daughter stayed the whole time, they had swimming lesson, made pizza for lunch, played charades, went to the kids pool, and built sand castles. I was super pleased with the entire experience and she came back super happy. I think it's great that the hotel offers this service. I would totally recommend it if you want some peace and quiet or if like mine your kid just wants to hang out with other kids :)

    BEAUTIFUL RESORT but...

Beautiful resort and only a few hiccups during my wife and my time there. As mentioned in many previous posts the chairs at or next to the pool Is a joke! Surrounding area around the pool area was not very well planned in my opinion. Lots of dead and unuseable space to allow for more lounges, chairs etc. For a resort of this size the buffet is way to small. Plenty of seating for resort guests but the buffet itself is a bit cramped. Again, overall a beautiful resort with minor faults but... don't they all. PJ
