We spent a week at the Royalton White Sands before heading to Negril as part of our honeymoon. We were part of the Diamond club which gives extra perks. The room was dated and rather disappointing compared to the images on the website. Our room had a partial view of the sea and we could watch the sun rise beautifully over the hills in the distance from our balcony. The staff were friendly but trying to get any assistance was like pulling teeth. Nobody seemed to know how to help and you were passed from staff member to staff member. I think we spoke to about 15 members of staff about trying to change room before we got confirmation that it wasn’t possible. I even asked to speak to the manager and was told that when he arrived I could meet with him.... I’m still waiting! Very frustrating! All the staff really did try to help, but nobody could give us any definite answers. The food was very good. Lots of authentic dishes and seasonal fruit. We had a complimentary candlelit dinner on the beach. Again, service was great but it was very dark. Think they need a few more candles but we used our phone torches lol. The only thing that we really, really disliked about White Sands was the number of stray dogs running around the beach constantly. For someone like me with a fear of dogs, this made it a bit difficult to relax, although the unlimited premium spirits definitely helped! Waiter service at the beach was hit and miss depending on who was on shift. The diamond club section of the beach was beautiful but the standard part had lots of seaweed being washed up. Aside from the Diamond club beach access, I can’t quite understand what real perks you receive in comparison to just a normal booking. Jamaica, as always, was beautiful and we cannot wait to return but probably not to this resort.
What a great place to stay. We were only there for one week while I photographed a wedding but would have loved to have stayed longer. Such a great range of restaurants that you don't need to leave the resort for a bit of variety, but I would recommend exploring the island.
Great Resort BUT!
The resort itself is very good with excellent food, nice restaurants nice beach and amazing staff especially Delroy Marlon and the chaps in the Martini bar. Now for the downside, the main part of the hotel is very dated with small rooms and they are very tired. The other thing is it is very difficult to avoid people smoking they have no smoking signs but people ignore them. we had to wash our clothes immediately we got home because of the smell of marijuana, they have security at the hotel but unlike other resorts they do nothing.
This resort was very nice!! It was relatively close to the airport (about 30-minute drive) which was nice. The food was very good throughout the stay and recommend the Italian restaurant!! By far my favorite part of the trip was the staff. Everyone was so welcoming and engaging and had some very good service. Shout out to Princess!!! She really made my trip unforgetable.
Great family vacation
.Looks like we got one of the last normalish vacations before everything started to shut down. Were there March 12-17th, & while things started to escalate at home the day after we arrived, we still had a great time! Loved our presidential 1 bedroom swim up suite with a seperate room. Diamond club check in went quickly all considered. Maybe 30 minutes to check in, meet our butler, & get a reservation for zen. Apparently they were completley full but just had a cancellation for the last night of our trip. We were able to eat a snack and have a drink while checking in. Room wasn't quite ready so looked around for 20 minutes before our butler messaged to say it was ready. Food was not bad, & our butler was able to get us into the restaurants we requested. People were nice, especially our butler. It was nice having 1 contact we could reach out to via WhatsApp. When our toilet was broken & our safe battery low, he had someone there right away to fix it. Our butler was great about everything we asked for, but I wish he would have done little things to surprise us like I heard others had. He knew we were celebrating our anniversary and didn't do anything for that, even though he asked about it. Much of the time it took awhile to get drinks compared to other resorts we have stayed at, but not a big deal. The resort was beautiful, and the beach really nice. So glad we got this vacation in & made it home after!
