Fantastic Vacation !!!
This was my first visit to the Bahía Principe luxury Amber. I have been to the Dominican Republic before, but this was an entirely different experience. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, the staff were exceptional, friendly, professional, accommodating, and always seeking to improve our experience. The specialty restaurants and the ability to make reservations online was a huge advantage. You can go online to check in early and make dinner and other plans. Although all the alacarte restaurants were great my personal favorite was MEAT and of course Tequila . You should try to book those restaurants as quickly as possible to ensure the ability to experience those great restaurants . Aracelis at the beach front breakfast and lunch area Was always great and provided wonderful service. Johan at the swim up up bar always had a smile and provide a great service ; our waiter for the lobby breakfast was great ; many other staff in the restaurants, bars and the sports bar were all very helpful in assisting and providing excellent service ( manager ) and even found our favorite sports teams on the TV . Try to stay towards the rear of the complex , near the pool and the beach. The room was beautiful with the balcony overlooking the pool and the beach was fantastic ; again I highly recommend this wonderful hotel for anybody that is seeking a very high level vacation experience.

Average at Best
Having just arrived home today after an 8 hr flight I have written this review while my memory is still fresh ! In my opinion this hotel is nowhere near a 5* that it is claimed to be ! Although the rooms are spacious and the gardens are pretty there are a lot of let downs ! We had a regular junior suite there were a few things that were not up to standard , the shower cubicle had a rain shower that water was running over the top as well as through the shower head and the hand held shower hose fitting on the wall was loose the tiles around the shower were grubby ! The a la carte restaurants were hit and miss and was extremely disappointed in the quality of my so called Rib Eye steak ! Sorry but it’s supposed to be marbled on the steak not a load of inedible fat running through the length of the steak which I wouldn’t have fed my dog ! The Portofino and Limbo restaurants on the other hand were very good and the Lasagne one of the best I’ve had ! Then we come to the buffet ! No air conditioning in the buffet which makes it extremely hot and uncomfortable and with prepared food including sea food is left to stand and is not chilled ! Very repetitive every day and we were there for 14 nights ! Positives !! All the staff there are amazing and the most friendliest we have come across ever ! They work immensely hard the waiting staff the bar tenders ! Room Maids ! Lobby ! Ladies at the pool ! Desiree thank you for keeping our drinks coming every day and Yuleidi , Bianca and Estefana Juan in Guest Experiences you were always going above and beyond as did Nikaury ! Lastly the beach ! It is very unpleasant every day to come by the pool area to a ransid smell that the sea weed creates and being on a sun bed on the beach with tractors running up and down all day and diesel fumes isn’t a great experience ! I spoke to many people there who have all said that The Ambar has gone down hill from what it used to be ! I can’t answer that but I will say We will not be returning !

Sea weed problem
Just wanted to advise anyone planning a trip to Punta Cana in the near future, check the condition of the beaches. They are having a severe problem with sea weed. We are staying at the Bahia Ambar and as far as we can see in both directions is a 20-30 yards from the water edge up the beach is 1 1/2 feet of sea weed. The smell is not pleasant. They are trying keep up with it with tractors but are having a difficult time getting ahead. And the tractors and diesel smell takes away from the peaceful atmosphere. Just wanted to advise anyone planning a trip to Punta Cana

Another great trip at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar
Another great stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar. We have been coming to this resort for 6 years and sometimes twice a year. The resort is clean and the service is very good. We had the best cacio e pepe dish at the Portifino restaurant. Executive Sous Chef Christian checked with us about the pasta and made us a second bowl because we loved it! Only downfall of the trip was the copious amount of seaweed on the beach which is beyond the control of the hotel. We now know to keep our visits to November/December when the seaweed is at a minimum.
