    great Holiday

    We visited St James club at the beginning of March, we had a fantastic time . This is a large spread out resort and we could not fault it. The rooms although a little dated, were good and very clean we paid more to overlook the sea and this was well worth the extra. The grounds were very well looked after and again very clean. There are so many activities to keep you entertained all day. Again the pool area and beach were kept to a very good standard and no problem finding a sun bed. Lots of food and drink all day long and the choice and standard was excellent. The restaurants have to be booked at the reception not a problem, all restaurants were excellent except the treetops which was not up to the same standard. There was a great choice of food and the deserts at the Palm restaurant were the best I have ever had. The entertainment team were young and so very enthusiastic they did everything they could to make sure everyone had a good time. A highlight for us was the beach party great fun, great music and a brilliant night. I cannot praise them enough and they certainly never stopped from early morning and into the dancing In the evening. All your staff were professional and always ready with a big smile. They are a credit to St Lucia. We found most people very friendly and really enjoyed themselves from the entertainment in the evening to the late drinks behind the red door. We cannot thank the staff enough for making this a most memorable holiday and perhaps those people who complained should think again because as we all know if your treat people with respect and a smile and hello, they will respect you back. We will definitely be back again to this beautiful Island and to St. James club.

    Hoped for so much more.

    We visited this property February 2020 with friends. It was ok but far below the standards of St. James property in Antigua. The customer service experience is poor from check in to check out. The front desk may have 2 or 3 attendants standing at the front desk however not all of them will assist. The line at the front desk may be 8 couples deep and there is no sense of urgency to assist to check guests in or out or ask questions. This is very understaffed. This continues with making dinner reservations. There is one person and one book. They are very strict with the hours this person will start to take reservations. It may be 8:59 am but this person will not pick up "the book" until 9 am. It takes time for guests to make decisions and this reservation person does not assist with suggestions for those guests that struggle to decide. Water sports is another disappointment. The red flag is up on a very regular basis. You can see other watercraft on the water from other resorts but there seems to be a small craft advisory on a regular basis at St. James. We made our stay fun. The Joy Tour was excellent. The beach was pretty. The ice cream man on the beach was so friendly. The beach BBQ was very entertaining. The Red Door staff was very welcoming and fun. There were bright spots but the hotel staff that should be the ones to make vacation easy seem to go out of their way to make it be more like work. Four days was the right amount of time to stay. Also St. Lucia is an island to see and explore by water. Roads are crowded and land travel is a challenge

    Caribbean Holiday Spring 2020

    The trip from the airport in the south of the island will take around one and quarter hours through lush rainforest over steep hills and with a winding route including many hairpins.We arrived at the hotel on Sunday 15th March to be greeted with a swift check in and a cold rum punch -most welcome after a 9 hour flight from the UK.Here is a summary of our experience amid gradual corona lockdown. Resort- nicely laid out grounds well maintained plants( some labelled for id), it is steep in places so be prepared to climb or take the buggies which wizz around.Small white sandy beach, shallow sea although a little cloudy, plenty of restaurants and bars.Clean pools lots of sunbeds/parasols. Rooms - we were in 1100 block high up on the hill, great views over the bay and Castries in the distance - ocean view suite bedroom huge comfortable bed, living room and bathroom with tub and shower.Recently redecorated great choice.Room had plenty of sockets, safe,fridge,TV, hairdryer ect. Restaurants - we had planned to use some of the restaurants on our stay but due to the health scare these started to close down.We managed the Bambou overlooking the sea- pleasant meal limited menu - all other meals were taken in the Palms buffet- fair choice every night themed evenings - Caribbean, Continental, Sunday Roast - found the food fine.Great little coffee shop which during the day provided us with tea/coffee, cakes,savouries,sandwiches if needed. Staff- all staff worked hard and smiled - treat them with respect and they will respond- thanks to the bar staff/ waiters/cooks and cleaners Trips - we managed one trip out via Real St Lucia Tours- great guys flexible and well priced- because of the health issues there were very few people about so we were able to visit the Pet Tau Trail, Sulphur Springs,Diamond Botanic Gardens virtually on our own. So it is difficult to right a fair review on the resort because we did not see it working properly - what we experienced was fine.We have said we will return to embrace the all inclusive Caribbean vibe - we hope that this pandemic does not cause too many problems for too long for the people of the resort and the island as a whole.

    Birthday Vacation

    Great resort. The staff were amazing. Friendly environment. Great place to relax. Highly reccomended.I will be going back. Lots of food and drinks. Plus meeting new people all over the world. The island is beautiful. And seeing other resorts. The JOY excursions are top of the line.Mr.Joy great man.

    Some good, some really, really bad

    I have a very mixed review on this hotel. Overall, the hotel was very nice, the room was spacious, and everything was well maintained. There were a few really big drawbacks that cause me to rate this hotel a 3. The biggest is the food. Overall, the food choices were awful. First is dinner reservations. You cannot make reservations before arrival, and upon arrival I attempted to make dinner reservations for the whole visit. The only thing available for 3 people was 9:00 pm every night. With a child, this doesn't work at all. I expressed my frustration with this and was told, that's what it is. So we settled for the buffet every night and most nights my 10 year old son ate bread and only bread. There were no kid friendly food options available. Ever. One night I finally broke down and asked if he could order pasta. We got it, but no one was pleased about having to do so. The final thing that I didn't care for was the 1.5 hour drive to and from the airport. The shuttle service was amazing, but after having such a terrible dining experience, the long, painful drive back to the airport was the final straw that made me realize I will never return. One other note, this hotel is advertised as family friendly. There were very few children at the resort. This hotel is definitely geared toward couples, not families.
