We spent 2 nights here before our cruise on Star Clippers .We boarded the ship only to be thrown back off the next day and told the cruise was cancelled due to the virus . We were told to make our own arrangements to get home!! This was terrifying as we could not get through to Virgin Airlines by phone! I them thought of seeing if we could get back into the Radisson-which thankfully we were able to and spent the week there until our flight went. It was a refuge and we were very comfortable there. People say it needs updating but we found it perfectly OK . We had a lovely view of the stunning beach from our room and the room was huge with 2 queen beds. All the staff and people we met were lovely. They tried to ensure everything still ran smoothly in the difficult situation .Special thanks to Sophia and Keisha in the restaurant who were so lovely. Also to Adrian with his wonderful rum tasting and cocktail making! He deserves a special mention. And thanks to Kanisha who organised all the walks, Shane who gave out the loungers and towels and Nigel at the front desk were all so helpful. Also Janelle on reception who advised us of the Virgin office in Hastings which gave us peace of mind in knowing our flight was still on schedule. And thanks also to the lovely Gillian who kept the place going even though the guests were getting less and less.I would like to return when things are normal to see it at its best. So thank you all for looking after us in our hour of need!
Location and Staff are 10's
I would stay at this resort 10 times out of 10 because the staff is truly beyond exceptional. The location also makes this property a 10. It requires updating but the above mentioned qualities make it a well worth the stay. . Thank you Margaret, Analis, Selwyn, Greorgy, Adrain, Leah, Kimberly, Shane, Sophia, Nigel, Ingrid, Cheryl and Jerry. I know I've forgot some but not because you werent wonderful as well. Thank you everyone!
Somewhat tired and in need of maintenance, this hotel is crammed into one corner of the beach, which means that the area for the (low quality and tatty) loungers is tiny as compared with the number of guests. You really are hugga mugga with your neighbours. Yes some of the staff are truly dedicated to pleasing guests but by no means all. The breakfasts are good to very good. It is difficult to judge the value as everything on the island is costly.
This hotel is disappointing for a four star hotel, it’s location is its best feature, beach service very good with towels and sun beds all sorted by friendly staff. The bbq night was disappointing with the lack of variety in food and an awful smell from the garden behind where the food was served, presumably drains. The hotel is tired , especially the bathrooms, needs updating. The restaurant is lacking in choice and does not offer all that is on the menu also slow service at times. Three star at best.
What a place to stay!
If I had been asked to draw my expectation of Barbados /the Caribbean before we left, it would not have been much different to the beach at the Radisson. White sand, clear sea, palm trees and lovely people (though I probably wouldn't have drawn the race horses in the water first thing each morning). The hotel (through a TUI package) was great. Comfortable, spacious and with everything we needed. The staff were, without exception, brilliant. Whilst we didn't sample the food often, when we did it was very good (loved the Thursday night bbq). There are people on the beech trying to sell you their goods or services, unsurprisingly, but no hassle and if you say no they leave you. But the views!!!! Cannot wait to go back to Barbados
