  Amazing resort with an amazing staff

  The resort was amazing, lots of activities, great views and great food. The one thing that makes this resort a 5 star rating is Andrelissa, she was our ambassador for the week we were there. She went above and beyond and truly made our stay not only enjoyable but we felt like celebrities. Andrelissa is an asset to Barcelo Bavaro Beach. She made sure we had a true VIP experience. We will definitely be back to Barcelo Bavaro beach resort to visit with our new friend Andrelissa.

  One of the Worst Hotel Experiences in the Area

  My stay at Barceló Bávaro Beach was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The service was mediocre at best, staff showed little interest, and the facilities are old and poorly maintained—far below the standard expected from a hotel in this category. The food was another major disappointment: low-quality ingredients, poorly prepared, and completely lacking in flavor. Dining there felt more like a chore than an enjoyable experience. What concerned me most was an attempted break-in of my vehicle in the hotel’s parking lot. When I requested footage, I was told the security cameras had no visibility of that area. This is a serious safety issue that the hotel failed to address appropriately. Overall, a thoroughly negative experience. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel—avoid it if you can.

  Sour and Sweet

  I enjoyed the beach and most of the Resort. I had a very disappointing experience at Chez Gourmet restaurant. The staff were not welcoming, and the food quality was subpar; it seemed as though some dishes were reheated. My husband and I received burnt lobster tails, and my friend and I both ordered beef tartare, but mine appeared overcooked while his was undercooked. Consequently, we left early, having barely eaten our meals. Furthermore, when my husband was getting change from the front desk, it appeared that $10 was omitted; when he requested a recount, the employee simply placed the missing money on the counter without verifying the total.

  1st anniversary week

  First of all we had the best time checking in, it was quick and pleasant. Daniel was awesome and super nice and professional, gave us all the information we needed and always with a huge smile. Very grateful for our experience with him, we stayed in a swin up room and it was beautiful, room service was always on time. Everyone was always so nice and helpful.

  Enjoy a Beautiful Beach. Be Patient with Staff

  Beach, Ocean & Pools: Gorgeous. Staff: kind & polite. The beach offers the idyllic white-beige sands with beautiful blue-green waters. The ocean was warm with blue-green water. Some seaweed is present on the beach, and some plants, possibly coral, in the ocean close to the beach. Shallow water made water play welcoming and non intimidating. Plentiful beach chairs, sun and palm trees. Lovely landscaping. Staff spoke mostly Spanish. We probably spoke as much Spanish as they spoke English-which was not a lot. Both parties were patient with each other as we used Google Translate as needed. Sometimes waiters were slow to refill water /drink glasses at the buffets. Buffets were sufficient, though I felt lacking in higher quality food like steak and brisket (found at Barcelo Riviera Maya Resort). A la Carte restaurant experiences were excellent with finer food options available. Gluten Free options for Celiac Disease were available upon request -- limited, but available all the same. Rooms were standard and slightly outdated, though exceptionally clean with fully functioning and reliable amenities. Check in was lengthy, and a warm wind (10mph) was constantly present. If you choose this stay, anticipate a gorgeous beach / ocean experience and be patient with staff.
