  A good week - the good and the bad

  Overall my trip was good! I rested a lot which was the purpose of my trip. Also remember that this is my feelings and experiences and they differ from most people. The good: the hotel was clean, service was good, the food was amazing and plentiful, the ala carte restaurants were amazing and I ate a lot in them (Brazilian and steak were great and especially the teppanyaki one, i ate there several times and kept coming back for more). Buffet had so many options and always fresh food. the food truck was amazing and had lunch there almost daily!!! didnt try the pizza place as it wasnt open daily. The entertainment was good, people super friendly and the room was good overall. Also very good was they had an app for everything which was easy to maneuver and use. i found if i needed maintenance, it was answered fast on the app; I had a clogged toilet and it was fixed pretty fast The beach had some fenced areas with security so when I was there I didn’t feel harassed by vendors, security did their job wonderfully. The bad: the beach…. Not enough beds, not enough shades and there was so much algae it was disgusting to swim but I still did.. I had to get up at 6:30 to go place my towel at the beach and it was already half full The cleaning of the room was mediocre, so I didn’t let the maid in every day as I usually do, I kept up the cleanliness mostly myself the entertainment was good but very loud. my room overlooked the entertainment area and there were times i couldn't hear myself think The maintenance was good and I know it because, on Saturday, my toilet became clogged. They had to come three separate times to figure out the issue.. they kept telling me I was throwing too much toilet paper into the toilet (which I wasn’t) …the third time they plunged it harder and a tube of shampoo came floating up… let me tell you that I didn’t put it in the toilet and flushed it. It was embarrassing to deal with and frustrating. Thank god I had Lysol wipes to clean the mess once the toilet was unclogged. And lastly , the a la carte restaurants had a very weird process, where they said you don’t need a reservation, but you can only let so many people in for every hour and a half and lines ups were long. Someone actually tried to butt in line Infront of me and was very rude… I don’t understand the concept of not having reservations but having a seating and making people wait for over an hour….def won’t be coming back because of This feature. Also you needed a reservation at the tepenyaki place, which I always did but they eventually told me I was at my limit of booking it but there was no hint of a limit anywhere… so also very frustrating. If i was the resort, i would go to making reservations on the app. very efficient and quick process. not all restaurants are open on a daily basis making it hard to try everything while staying there a week. line ups can be crazy also this resort was too large for one person and I am looing for smaller and quieter hotels extra info : No elevators and lots of walking so its not suitable if you have mobilty issues. I know there were people who managed , but its not for everyone

  Sunscapes Dont Visit

  Horrible. So much walking done rooms are not as nice as presented online. Had a room with rodent poop, toilet wasn’t working and handle on balcony door was not there. Food was meh not a lot of options. Late night snacks there’s not much and no rooms service available.

  Nicholas at the family pool (with water slides)

  Nicholas at the family pool was amazing. He was so personable with everyone. He made sure that everyone was happy and always had a smile on! Sad to think that he has to work 11 days at 12 hours a day in order to get 3 days off. But he never let it show that he was tired!

  Pleasant surprise-wonderful staff

  We just returned from a 10 day stay, and had a lovely time. We upgraded to Sun Club and our room was in building 1. Our room was spacious and spotlessly kept-Jocelina our housekeeper, kept our room spotless and was super friendly. The king bed was firm and we had a large quiet patio on the ground floor. There were a few mosquitos in the evening. We have stayed at 15 all inclusives-the food here was good. kaleidoscope buffet was spotless and the food choices were good-shout out to Martin, Felix G and Anadelsi for making us feel welcomed like family. We dined at the Mexican, Dominican, Amazonian and Blue Water-the Amazonian and Blue Water were our faves -the cafe has great coffees and treats The beach is beautiful and well kept-you do need to get up early to secure loungers -we spent all day every day on the beach and loved it. A suggestion would be a beach valet to assign chairs and remove towels left on loungers often all day with no one coming to sit there. We had lunch daily at Flip Flopz and loved it-the guac, pico and chips are great. Estephany at the bar is a wonderful ambassador The staff works so hard-6:30 am until 9:30 pm in the restaurants-Martin was a presence all 10 days we were there! Kudos to the hard working, super friendly staff. We were apprehensive due to wildly fluctuating reviews but pleasantly surprised-we will return again.

  Terrible Resort

  Rooms not clean (sand in bed upon arrival, floors dirty) Food is awful & flies all over food at buffet Beach is very crowded Bar runs out of many drinks (beer, white wine, etc) Sewer smells throughout Inconsistent housekeeping Restaurants advertised as a la carte were buffet & not open half the time Very disappointing, not how advertised.
