Mar 14, 2025Great place to stay at La Fortuna!
We really liked this resort. Not sure the bad reviews are fair. The rooms are nice and big for families. The hot tub was a big hit, just remember to turn it off at night, because it is loud. I saw no sign of mold, as another review mentioned. I only have three recommendations. 1. Go to Titoku, the off site hot springs. The springs are much warmer than the ones on site. We enjoyed it! 2. Eat somewhere else for dinner, the restaurant wasn’t great. But the breakfast was fabulous with lots of options. 3. Recommendation for the resort owner: update your showers. Needs new grout and the shower head and spigot could use some maintenance. I highly recommend this resort. You can’t beat the view of the volcano and the grounds are very well kept.

Everything was great!
What a gorgeous property! Our room with a jacuzzi was spacious and bright. We loved the balcony with the view of the volcano and gardens. Waking up to the sound of bird calls and howler monkeys was a treat. The breakfast buffet was really fantastic.. unlike any other we've ever had. Our preferred dinner was the poolside restaurant where we could share. The hot spring pools on the property were great and practically private. The shuttle to the off-site hot springs was also a really great experience. I had a volcanic clay massage at the spa and it was so luxurious. I highly recommend this property and plan on staying for multiple nights!

AMAZING
Absolutely beautiful hotel. Immaculately clean, beautiful surroundings, spacious rooms, awesome amenities. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect in every way. The restaurant was delicious. We were catered to like royalty! I would recommend a million times over. We will be back for sure!

Went from "bucket list" to "must do again."
When someone uses a cliche "it's not just a hotel, it's an experirience" they must mean this place. And it's not a cliche. In the case of Kioro Arenal -- it's an UNDERstatement! Staff -- not just friendly and professional, but helpful in ways not expected from an out-of-the-way hotel. Be it explanation of local ecosystem, mating habits of local night frogs, parking your car, managing local transportation, or arranging out of the way zip-lining, these guys helped us with all our questions. Food -- after the first night, we did the unusual: we just stayed to eat in our hotel without venturing out to the local town of La Fortuna. Everything is fresh, local, and cooked to perfection. Accommodations -- OUT OF THIS WORLD ! Each morning you wake up to the view of Arenal Volcano in your window, which is your volcano facing wall, which is... oh, nevermind, words can't do it justice.

Loved it!
Loved Kioro Hotel! One of those places where the actual property is as good or better than the online description. Beautiful property in amazing location facing the Arenal Volcano. We had one of the family suites with floor to ceiling window facing Arenal, and it was open, airy and nicely decorated. Impeccably clean room and pristine grounds with beautiful foliage and flowers. Comfortable beds. Friendly, warm staff that made everything easy. We especially liked eating lunch by the pool and found the service, food quality, presentation and prices to be very, very good. (Better than the more formal restaurant which is good for breakfast ). And you can see wildlife right on the property - saw Toucans and many of the friendly Coatis (like a racoon) ambling around the grounds and trees. Way cool. Kioro is about a 12-15 minute Uber ride into La Fortuna town and costs about $8 each way. There are numerous hot spring pools on the property which are inviting and private, but you will find they are less warm than hot springs closer to the volcano since the water has to be pumped over. Kioro has free shuttle to the Titoku Hot Springs about 8 min down the road which has pools ranging from all temps. Some things to be aware of: 1) Internet and WiFi speeds are slow so it can take a few minutes to connect to Uber 2) they have a gym but equipment is old, insufficient and needs replacement. Overall, Kioro is wonderful jewel and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others
