Overall a good stay but definitely could use improvements in places. The Good: -the staff were all really nice and helpful -the gym was really nice -good variety of healthy, vegetarian/vegan food at the buffet (as well as a lot of unhealthy food, but possible to make good choices) -the rooms are nice and large, loved the dual shower heads and comfy beds -coffee shop was great and open hours are amazing -restaurants were average (Google ratings accurate) The Bad: -the amount of plastic being served - water bottles, etc was disturbing, especially when you go to the beach and see all the plastic washing up on the shore. Bottle caps, bags, kidd toys, you name it. The resort didn't even encourage bringing a Reusable bottle, nor did they have refillable water stations. They got mad at us for filling our bottle at the water station at reception. -The beach was pretty dirty, plastic was everywhere buried in the seaweed piled along the shore. The seaweed really ruined the experience. The barrier net didn't help much and we couldn't even swim without getting covered in seaweed and plastic. The state of our oceans is really sad. Walk up the beach a bit north and it gets worse. It looks like a garbage dump. - don't bother coming if you aren't Diamond status. You can't make a dinner reservation and if you show up without one, all the restaurants tell you they are full even though there are empty tables all night. We were diamond but our family was not. They even kicked us out of the diamond section of the general dining room because not every person with us was diamond (there was no one else in the section at all)

Fantastic time at Royalton Rivera . Dining at agave restaurant was a great experience menu good selection . Service was excellent especially Edgar who made the evening all the more memorable. The atmosphere and surroundings of the restaurant were perfect . Thank you Edgar

Great fitness centre and team!
Great resort! We love the fitness centre and classes. The instructors are professional. Luis is the tennis pro and has great fitness classes. The beach is great for walking. Food and drinks are excellent quality. The rooms are a good size and comfortable.

Our 8th visit and it did not disappoint
We are serial stayers at this resort.We have stayed at quite a few Royalton properties but this is up there with our favorites.Firstly ignore the bad reviews yes the hotel standards have dropped slightly since the new owners and management have come in but there are still loads of positives to this property. The food quality is great and there is plenty of choice on offer.We stayed Diamond Hideaway and would highly recommend it. Firstly our room 1402 was an amazing oceanfront view and when we return I would love to have this room again.Our butlers Daniel and Luis were on hand for every request nothing was too much trouble and every request was carried out quickly and efficiently. They were friendly, polite and so helpful and just generally lovely people. Would have liked the hideaway bar to have been open past 10pm as it was on our past visits and also seemed to run out of branded drinks a lot.The restaurant we spent the most time in for breakfast,lunch and evening meal was the Dorada,food was excellent and good quality and the chateaubriand was to die for best I’ve ever had. All the fish is also yummy. Would have loved Ocean Point to have been open because we were told last year that it would (still don’t know why it’s not) such a lovely restaurant in the past management should seriously consider reopening it.Agave restaurant was amazing I had the special dish of the month it was delicious.Zen was lovely food and Armadillo was so good.The pizzas in Grazie for lunch were amazing and the garlic bread was gorgeous.Now to mention all the staff who made our trip exceptional: Armadillo Christian.Agave Veronica .Dorada Omar (from the cruise ship) Irving,Florence,Emanuel and Henry.Lobby bar Julio (made the best Tanquery and tonic with all the trimmings.Omar from Hunters gave the best service.Gabby from the beach who organized our trips and last but not least Hugo who made sure we had towels on the beach loungers or the Diamond pool loungers every day nothing was too much trouble (management make this man a waiter or butler ASAP) Cant go without mentioning the reason we return to the Royalton year after year from our first visit Noe Salzer we love him.Also one last thing management please bring back hand sanitizer to the resort.Untill next time Royalton.

Great report! Very relaxing
The Resort was great, staff was very kind, location great. Food amazing. Only downside was the condition of the beach. Butler service was outstanding. We had Enrique and Sarah who helped make our trip so much more enjoyable and fun! Lots of different pools to choose from
