Rude, Surly . . . Don't Bother
We were staying in the area, so went to try their open-to-the-public on site restaurant. Drove into the entrance with the "Restaurant" sign and immediately came to a gatehouse (shed) and gate. A very surly attendant guy eventually came out and just growled at us to go away! Mind you, this was lunchtime in the middle of the day. We told him we were going to the restaurant but he just scowled and starting walking away. We asked if he could open the gate so we could turn the car around but he refused to speak to us and just gestured for us to get outta there. We then had to dangerously back our car out into the main road of traffic with a blind curve. No idea if this place is any good, but their "welcome committee" makes the whole place a NO for us.

Dark Dank & Dangerous
DON’T! Worst experience of trip! Dreadful mile long entry rough & treacherous. Outdated & Ugly. Unpainted. Rusty appliances. Lamp globes full with dead insects. Awful furniture & decor. No view. Unsafe walking to restaurant. You can do better for less $.

A beautiful quiet resort up in the hills
Stayed here for 3 nights. Stunning views from our huge room. Would say very dated hotel but has charm. The staff were all super friendly and very helpful. Special shout out goes to Rose who works in the restaurant- very happy lady always offering advice etc. the drive up to the hotel from the main road is fab, we saw Coatis, vultures eating various road kill - brilliant!

Beautiful view and charming lodge...
Beautiful grounds. The view of the volcano from our room was great when the clouds dispersed. It is very cloudy there this time of year. We highly recommend the horse back riding. Their horses are very gentle and well trained. The property is a bit of a distance from town and that is both good and bad. There are lovely trails to hike. The rooms are spacious and rustic.

Ghostly but Scenic Stay
The lodge is located very tucked away and about 25 minutes from La Fortuna. This is a good place if you are looking to be "off grid" and away from the touristy places. To transport back and forth is challenging. We had a car, so we were able to do so but it's annoying to go up/down steep roads. Rooms are outdated/not well lighted; we had a paranormal/ghostly experience the first night. We heard voices (we were the only guests in the area around us) at night, lots of stomping and door slamming noises from 1 to 4 am. The second night, it was better, but we kept on hearing people that were not there. Considering that the lodge is remote, there should be some facilities/amenities on the property. The AM guy is really nice, the PM guy isn't super helpful. Overall, from a nature vibe, the property is very scenic, beautiful and all. I am not sure if it's worth staying here in the future considering the lack of amenities and distance from overall spots we wanted to go to.
