    Family trip full of memories

Beautiful hotel, clean, excellent choices of restaurants and availability for our large group (10). Buffet was excellent, great entertainment. We were on adult side, beach distance and access excellent. Pools all execellent and towel service excellent (take as many as needed, no stress with cards) overall great experience , would recommend!

    So-so vacation

My family and I are at the resort now and are having a good time. One of the highlights is “Pumped” the gym - the equipment is great and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We particularly found Arleth very helpful. The food at the buffet was really good and well stocked. Downsides were finding loungers by the beach or pool, long line ups for coffee at fuel and the ice cream cart, the fact that bottled water was only available at fuel, rooms are a little outdated and the fact that the staff here are generally not overly friendly. We had brown water come out of our washroom taps which was a little unsettling. We found the acrobatic show to be very entertaining!

One of the best resorts in Mexico.

This was our second visit because we love it! The food is mostly very good, especially for all inclusive but the Braza Grill for the Brazilian Food is amazing. We could eat it every night! It also has amazing breakfast in the morning, cooked to order which we ate every morning. The hibachi, may depend on the chef, was also great. The entertainment at night was excellent as well 3 of the nights maybe partly due to the 4th of July. Which by the way, they put on an excellent ALL DAY feast and show at the pools for the 4th which is fun and heartwarming for us but of course fun as well for people not from America. The service here is also next level. Everyone is very friendly and great at what they do but we must call out a few stars as well. J. Samuel at the adult pool, Erik at the Braza Grill as well as hostess Adriana all work so hard to make you happy and go the extra mile, it really goes over the top. Then we have our Butlers, Angel and Edwar who take care of everything you can think of, definitely more than they even have to, to make your stay easy, efficient, and just perfect from the moment you check in until AFTER you check out even. They are amazing! We think it's one of the best resorts in all of Mexico and will be going back for a 3rd time soon.

    Good place to experience, once.

We are just finishing our 1 week stay at the Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Resort in Cancun, through Sunwing/Westjet Vacations. There are many positive things to mention, as well as areas that need some work. The check-in did take some time, but was pretty seamless. The lobby and lounge area at the adult scene is pretty simple compared to the lavish decor of the other areas of the resort (an observation, not a complaint.) Our room was in building 13 and we thought the space was a nice size, very clean and nicely appointed with various movie and music features used to decorate. The pool chair situation is a real issue. There are not enough chairs and umbrellas to service all of the guests. I imagine that if the beach didnt have such a seaweed issue at this time of year, there would be enough chairs and shade for everyone to enjoy themselves. I have been at other resorts where they have a team of workers raking seaweed every morning. I suggest that the resort consider redirecting some of the dozens of staff that are assigned to upselling excursions, shopping packages, loyalty programs, etc. to making the beach more appealing to the guests. We are early risers so had our towels out by 7am to secure our preferred location by the pool. The pool area was clean, well-kept, and we never had any issues to get as many towels as we needed. The entertainment team was pleasant and positive. The servers around the pool area were always attentive. All of your reservations are conducted through the app. We had a minor issue on the first day to book our a la cartes as it showed many restaurants fully booked. After checking back a few time throughout the day we could secure a spot for us. You may not get your ideal time, but if you are on a strict schedule I suggest the buffet. The portion sizes in the restaurants are pretty small, so don't feel ashamed to order another entree if you are not satisfied. We ate at the Indian, Italian, Japanese and Guy's Burger restaurants while there. Each had good food. Nothing extraordinary but we never left hungry or worse, sick. Most of your activities will take place on the family side, be it shows, restaurants, disco, movie theater, mini golf, gym, lazy river, batting cage, and basketball courts. It takes a bit of time to get yourself oriented with the grounds, but once you take some time to explore, finding things becomes easier. The decor around the resort is interesting to see if you like entertainment. Plenty of showcases pepper the hallways with unique clothing and props from well-known and not-so well-known films. The night time entertainment was ok. Each evening there is something scheduled at the outdoor pavillion. It usually starts with an activity for kids to engage in on the stage. The few times we were there to see that portion, it seemed a repeat activity from the previous night. Following the kids show, there is an interactive quiz game you can play from your phone with the MC on stage directing it. I found the technology didn't always work well, so gave up the few times I tried playing. The resort puts a lot of effort to have great props set up and backdrops for some of the night time shows (e.g., Wizard Show), I just wish they put the same level of quality into the actual entertainment. We never lasted an entire show, often times leaving after 20 minutes. One final observation I would like to make pertains to the activities around July 1 and 4. We are from Canada, and celebrate the confederation of our country on the first with Canada Day. The resort honoured the day with staff wearing t-shirts with a maple leaf on them, a foam party at the family side pool, and the stage at the pavillion had the word "Canada" hung from it. We did not attend the foam party because we prefer to stay on the Adults-only side. We did hear from others that did attend the foam party on the family side, that they began with our National anthem, but some kids  began to show their own patriotism during the playing of the anthem by yelling USA during it's playing. This is not the responsibility of the resort to enforce respect for other cultures but it certainly didn't sit welll with me. Overall I thought that the subtle touches the resort did for their Canadian guests was nice...that is until we saw the extravagance placed into the 4th of July. If you are American, I would have been very pleased with the effort the resort put into honouring Indeoendence Day. American flags, decor, staff in red, white and blue costumes that mimicked Apollo Creed's boxing outfit, complete with top hat. You had people on stilts, a special outdoor buffet with American food next to the Adult side pool, mini parades with Bruce Springsteen blaring from the loud speaker, and foam party at the Adult pool. And all this before dinner! We dined at the buffet that evening and it was USA-themed food everywhere! From red, white and blue sushi and desserts to chicken wings, burgers. They went all out. The night time show had American-themed decor and music, and fireworks too. I don't want to turn this into a political post, but the difference between the 2 days was VERY evident. Considering a Canadian company, Blue Diamond Resorts, owns and operates the Planet Hollywood Beach Resort Cancun I thought this was...interesting. Now I am sure that the percentage of US guests outweighs that of other countries, hence the special treatment. Overall the resort was fine, we were treated well, the food was good, drinks were plentiful and we did enjoy making new friends from all over the world. We won't be returning as we had had better experiences in other resorts for a small premium, but there is nothing wrong with this property.
