14 years since last vacation, A+++

Just a great place. 5 separate experiences and one huge resort. They have adults only sections as well as family sections. Can tour everything enjoy the sun and family friendly atmosphere. From the bell boys unloading our bags to escorting to our room. Check was fast and easy. No more cards to remember, your key is on your wrist with your bracelet. The shops, the staff all friendly and easy going. No pressure, just an enjoyable time. Already planning a group vacation this winter to same resort.

Not a Pleasant Experience for Women in their 20's avoid at all cost

Where do I begin… I booked a vacation for my daughter for her & her friend to celebrate their 23 bday and the experience was… well So, they get to the hotel and for some crazy reason they checked them in under a man’s name, yes you read that right a MAN’S name. So of course she’s trying to get in contact with me, but the connection is really bad Wi-Fi is really bad & regular connection wasn’t picking up. She finally gets through to me (about 3 hrs. later) informs me of the situation. So, I tell her right away go to the front desk I want to speak to them. As I speak to a representative, they assure me they are aware of the situation, and they will correct the situation in the morning oh and on top have them the wrong type of room. (I have to clarify this is the first time she travels outside of the country without me, but I expected this hotel in this country to treat her correctly as I stayed in their hotels before and had a great experience) a lot Morning comes, they tell her come in the afternoon, afternoon comes nothing. They went to excursions come back early evening and nothing was done. She calls me again and I tell her go back to front desks and demand they fixed the reservation speak to a supervisor a manager and do not leave until they fix this very serious issue. Imagine this man comes into the hotel and tells them he lost his keys, and they give him a key to my daughter’s room. Insane, like are they crazy. How do you check in a guest under someone else’s name that is not on the reservation? Like how? Let alone two females under a man’s name. I was Livid!!! So, after 40 / 50 mins they finally corrected the name & finally was under my daughter’s name and her friend's name just like I had made the reservation to begin with but unfortunately, they didn’t correct the type of room she was in. After that she’s started to have problems with the safe, then housekeeping kept coming in without knocking. I had to speak to them several times because they were not fixing the situation and I wasn’t on vacation with them. They also asked to have a late check out, she spoke to a gentleman, and he said no. So again, I had to call and spoke to Maria, and she was able to accommodate them. I just think they took advantage of them because they were young girls, and that shouldn’t had been the case, all guest should be treated with the utmost respect, kind & decency and that wasn’t the case from the very beginning and is a shame because they were paying guest and even if they weren’t they should had been treated with kindness regardless. I’m so disappointed at this hotel brand because I expected better. I Do not recommend at all. Too big of a hotel chain to make these very, very huge dangerous mistake, that could had potentially put my daughter's & her friend lives in danger. Safety is obviously not their first priority.

Not a 5 star hotel!!! Be advised.

Terrible Experience – Not Worth the Money I stayed at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana with my family (2 adults and 2 children), and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We booked a room for four people, but when we arrived, there were only three beds. I requested an extra bed four separate times, and each time I was dismissed. The manager, Esteban, was completely unhelpful and claimed that the furniture couldn’t be moved, so there was nothing the hotel could do. In the end, I had to find a foldable bed myself and carry it to the room at 11:00 PM. That is completely unacceptable for a supposedly “grand” resort. To make matters worse, the shower didn’t work, the room was filthy, and there were only two towels for a family of four. Basic cleanliness and customer service were clearly not a priority. There are many better hotel options in Punta Cana for the same price or even less. I regret booking here and strongly advise others to look elsewhere.

Lovely holiday shame about some staff

We enjoyed our stay here, lots of activities throughout the day and great for kids. Entertainment on the evening is good however we were very confused for our first 2 nights. In the main lobby there is generally a singer (Spanish speaking hardly any English songs) on till about 10pm so we thought entertainment must finish at that time. However after venturing out after 10pm we found the karaoke/sports bar was busy at that time and then club/discotheque next door opened at 12. We had a great few nights here. I don’t know if it’s the culture or the hotel but lots of staff do not smile or seem to want to be here. Maybe it’s because we’re English and our hospitality is different to the carribean? It was just quite surprising as you’re expected to tip people however they don’t seem to earn their tips. The Wi-Fi is only good in some areas of the pool. Food - buffet very tasty and variety of options, they also cook fresh pasta or stir fry noodles if you want to create your own. However queues can be long at the buffet, definitely the busiest buffet I have been to in a hotel. Restaurants served nice food and you could have around 4 courses, tasty food however service was not what I was expecting for al a carte. No one explained how it worked or offered you a menu, when the server comes to ask what you want they don’t actually speak they just stand there and expect you to know what to say/where to start. However one man in the Italian restaurant was the friendliest, he was smiley and talkative. And the staff and the vibe of the Japanese restaurants were amazing definitely go there! The snack bar “the truck” located near the beach is fab! Really tasty food, you order on the screens and collect your food usually only take a couple of minutes very quick service. Staff Entertainment team were definitely the friendliest. Lots of smiles and talking to people. Servers majority did not smile or seem like they wanted to be there. Bar staff, definitely trying their best to get round to everyone quickly, most were friendly and chatty but some would roll their eyes or make a face if you ask them to make a cocktail. Cleaners, our cleaner was friendly greeting us everyday. The cleaning was good but basic as there is lots of black marks on skirting boards or corners of the room, just could do with more of a deep clean occasionally. Also, the plate of fruit provided in our room was not changed or removed the whole time of our stay which resulted in mouldy fruit that we ended up throwing away ourself. But obviously bed was made everyday and basics kept up with so was generally clean. Toilets by the pool were constantly been cleaned which was great. Groundkeepers, lots of them around constantly keeping the place tidy, even checking bushes for any rubbish. Also doing lots of painting of the place outside. Lots of jet washing the floors outside. Things you may not know if you haven’t been to a resort or the carribean: Golf buggy’s are available every couple of minutes to take you to your room or the buffet or beach etc. Make sure you book the al a carte restaurants in advance as some of them get fully booked quickly. There are some pushy representatives trying to sell things, if you’re not interested try not to entertain the conversation as they can become frustrated and rude if you have been looking at something but don’t buy it. Only book excursions through staff within the hotel, we booked Saona island through a rep called Santiago, was really nice and informative, but not pushy at the same time! I would say learn Spanish!!! They seem much more helpful to guests that speak Spanish, we are English speaking and felt a bit left out at times as they didn’t seem interested in us but did with Spanish guests. You can bring your own personal cups/bottles/flask which they will put drinks in for you (if you want it to stay colder for longer and like having a lid)
