    Problems from checkin forward.

Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Vacation in Punta Cana DR, note that mosquitoes are a big problem so you must apply repellent repeatedly. The door was an easy access point due to the separations in the door plus the threshold. When the sun shines into the hallway it really highlights the cracks in the wooden door. The last 3 visits I had an upgraded checking in an air conditioned room where I was greeted with a drink. This time, no drink offered and even thought preregistered I waited in the very slow lines as there seemed to be a lot of confusion about the bookings. While this was my 6th visit to this resort, the staff said there was no record of my staying there in the past so i was not given an upgraded armband. Sent to a room with a king size bed, returned to line to be given another room which was already occupies, assigned another room where the the wristband would not open the door so return once again to have it reprogrammed to be meet with another king bed where I returned to line to request a bed be brought to the room. We had arrived a little after 3pm it was now close to 9pm and we had not eaten and the buffet closed at 10pm. Forgot to mention that they line you up to get into the large carts with guests for 6 or more rooms so it takes a while for this to play out, so you see where the 6 hours passes quickly. Initially the ac fan motor was failing along with the ceiling fan not working and even the fan motor control on the thermostat was also faulty. While initial complaints were ignored with the employees laughing at us, a woman filling in customer service called a maintenance supervisor who contacted worker to repair all the problems noted in just a few hours time frame after 8 days of misery. The supervisor who oversaw the repairs requested a crew of 4 to do a complete cleaning of the room to include replacement of a shear on the patio door that had a hole in it. Physically, the room had many defects to include exposed wires on lighting, damaged tiles, large holes in curtains, tv signal would not display most channels, coffee maker was overflowing at first and then quit, the bathroom was dirty with caulking on every surface, the soap tray coating was eroded away, The dispensers for soap and shampoo did not work, the best way to describe the place was grimy. At least on the 8th day the room was acceptable to the normal standards. Second day, the beach was covered with 3 feet of seaweed blocking access to the beach with a foul order which is an abnormal event rectified somewhat on the third day. Since they tried to put us in an occupied room on the first day, my early check in and dinner reservations were changed requiring me to argue with customer service to reschedule. A La Carte dinner at the Fish House where I expected to have a good variety of seafood, problem was they charged you for any fish. Ordered the chicken breast as I felt ripped off and it was served burnt along with the vegetables, so back to the buffet to get some free fish. The lobby in our building flooded twice overflowing the threshold to enter our room over a 2-day period so returned to the main desk to get the floors mopped. They had already cleaned up the lobby but did not bother to even check the rooms. If you are going to this resort, then be sure to take lots of deet for the mosquitoes and a net so you can sleep and not wake up with bites all over your body. Once you arrive you have no other option but to put up with the misery, or the very expensive option of moving to another resort. It looks like they did not want to go to the expense of spraying or fogging to control insects, After 8 visits to the DR, this is worst problem with bug bites by far. Something else I noticed was the very large amount of locals staying here at the resort, wondering if the word about the conditions has spread and maybe they are discounting to the residents to help fill up the rooms. The locals in large groups would cut in line at the bars and dinners with the servers catering to them. I had done my due diligence before traveling and noticed some similar complaints but thought they were just over exaggerating. The Bahia has its own forum for each site which you would be well advised to review before booking. Note: the 5 stars where you will see 3 ratings in a row which seem surreal Almost forgot to mention the construction adjacent to where we stayed, while very noisy it quieted down after dark. Buffet will not serve coffee at lunch or dinner which was another big surprise to me, so you have to exit to the lobby to access the coffee machines if so inclined. I had to push myself to give this resort a 2 rating where it was always a 4 or 5 in the past. I did not want to forget the buffet breakfast, where my cousin had picked bacon which when she cut it, out pops a chicken bone that the meat had been eaten off then dumped into the tray. We reported this through a waiter and 3 managers show up who talked amongst their self's and with no comment quietly strolled away. This had to have come from the kitchen as no chicken was being served at the time.

The best trip to celebrate my sons graduation.

Everything was on point. We had the best service. Carlos and Ariel were very helpful. The food was great. Our room was very nice. We didn’t spend much time in our room as there was so much to do. We had such a great time that we are going back in Aug.

    ROACHES BEWARE

Outdated rooms, muggy smell, and unclean bathrooms. Roaches everywhere !!!!! My familys room was covered in roaches and we can see outside in the hallways and in the bar/food areas so unappealing and uncomfortable. Didnt enjoy my stay thinking i can bring roaches home!

14 years since last vacation, A+++

Just a great place. 5 separate experiences and one huge resort. They have adults only sections as well as family sections. Can tour everything enjoy the sun and family friendly atmosphere. From the bell boys unloading our bags to escorting to our room. Check was fast and easy. No more cards to remember, your key is on your wrist with your bracelet. The shops, the staff all friendly and easy going. No pressure, just an enjoyable time. Already planning a group vacation this winter to same resort.

Not a Pleasant Experience for Women in their 20's avoid at all cost

Where do I begin… I booked a vacation for my daughter for her & her friend to celebrate their 23 bday and the experience was… well So, they get to the hotel and for some crazy reason they checked them in under a man’s name, yes you read that right a MAN’S name. So of course she’s trying to get in contact with me, but the connection is really bad Wi-Fi is really bad & regular connection wasn’t picking up. She finally gets through to me (about 3 hrs. later) informs me of the situation. So, I tell her right away go to the front desk I want to speak to them. As I speak to a representative, they assure me they are aware of the situation, and they will correct the situation in the morning oh and on top have them the wrong type of room. (I have to clarify this is the first time she travels outside of the country without me, but I expected this hotel in this country to treat her correctly as I stayed in their hotels before and had a great experience) a lot Morning comes, they tell her come in the afternoon, afternoon comes nothing. They went to excursions come back early evening and nothing was done. She calls me again and I tell her go back to front desks and demand they fixed the reservation speak to a supervisor a manager and do not leave until they fix this very serious issue. Imagine this man comes into the hotel and tells them he lost his keys, and they give him a key to my daughter’s room. Insane, like are they crazy. How do you check in a guest under someone else’s name that is not on the reservation? Like how? Let alone two females under a man’s name. I was Livid!!! So, after 40 / 50 mins they finally corrected the name & finally was under my daughter’s name and her friend's name just like I had made the reservation to begin with but unfortunately, they didn’t correct the type of room she was in. After that she’s started to have problems with the safe, then housekeeping kept coming in without knocking. I had to speak to them several times because they were not fixing the situation and I wasn’t on vacation with them. They also asked to have a late check out, she spoke to a gentleman, and he said no. So again, I had to call and spoke to Maria, and she was able to accommodate them. I just think they took advantage of them because they were young girls, and that shouldn’t had been the case, all guest should be treated with the utmost respect, kind & decency and that wasn’t the case from the very beginning and is a shame because they were paying guest and even if they weren’t they should had been treated with kindness regardless. I’m so disappointed at this hotel brand because I expected better. I Do not recommend at all. Too big of a hotel chain to make these very, very huge dangerous mistake, that could had potentially put my daughter's & her friend lives in danger. Safety is obviously not their first priority.
