Superior Service
This resort truly surprised us. First off I would like to say that we stayed at the Mi Hotelito room. I heard they have been the most recently renovated. It was a beautiful room that felt like a tropical getaway. The location was prime! That was our favorite part. We loved hanging out on our little patio and still received butler service there. Service everywhere was outstanding. Staff were always very happy to help. The food was the best we've had at an all-inclusive. It's a smaller resort and no buffet, so everything is cooked fresh. We usually get tired of the food by the end but not here. Chips and salsas to begin most meals. There are lots of Mexican options on the menu. We once went to a resort in Mexico with no Mexican restaurant, and it was so disappointing. El dorado maroma felt very Mexican and not just like an American resort in Mexico. We loved all the Mexican touches here. We wish they would do away with needing reservations at the restaurants. Felt very unnecessary. The beach was beautiful, but I will admit it's not exactly the type of beach I enjoy. I love swimming in the ocean. This was pretty shallow, and they had black metal lumps in the water that were pretty unsightly. The loungers are also kept pretty far back. It would have been nice if they were closer to the water. I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The paddleboarding and kayaks were free and made the ocean very enjoyable. There was never a wait to use them. While paddleboarding, I saw starfish, a stingray, a horseshoe crab, and lots of fish. It was amazing! The resort itself is not a party resort, but we noticed they still had lots of entertainment and activities during the day. My biggest disappointment is that we booked this as an adults only that claimed to have a private beach but children were on the beach periodically. No one said anything but I could tell we weren't the only people who had a problem with it. Overall we had an amazing time. Just a few things to nit pick but in the end not really big deals. Fantastic resort!

Nice place, beautiful grounds and gorgeous beach
we went for a week, December 19-26. There were good and some minor bad aspects of it. Place was very clean for the most part. The room we had was spacious, modern and clean. Beach was beautiful, resort was maybe 60% booked so getting a spot at the beach was not a problem. Our section was adults only so we really did enjoy that. Beach was gorgeous, they had kayaks and stand up paddle boarding available, along with a catamaran trip included in our package. When we arrived, we were told that we would need reservations for dinner, something I was not a fan of, but we made them. They also put a $500 hold on my credit card, but I was not charged for any incidentals. Remember to bring an ac charger for your phone, there is no place other than an outlet to plug into. Just about every time we went to dinner, the restaurants were rather empty which was good for us. If you are looking for an open buffet, this resort only had one of them, the other restaurants were sit down with waiter service. The regulars told us about room service, so we used that several times. We did find the ice cream store; the workers did not tell us about that. Nowhere did we see a place to get food to eat by the pool, last year the resort in Cancun had a couple of grills by the pool open. Other than the ice cream shop, there was no place to get any snacks without paying for them in the gift shop. We found that many of the people there were regulars that bought into the place, they say it is not time share. They seemed to get more attention and knew what was going on. They did tell us there was a new management company and they were working out things such as the daily interactions with the customers. Communicaton as to what is going on there was lacking, we found out there was a beach BBQ the one day only because we were sitting there when they were setting up. There was no daily or nightly entertainment for the most part, might have been a DJ at one of the pools one night, but we were not informed. My girlfriend and I both thought something was a bit off, while the resort was beautiful, it just seemed like something was missing. Could be the lack of entertainment, we weren't looking for a big show just something to do at night for an hour or two, nothing to snack on during the day or the lack of communication, but we decided we wouldn't plan another vacation there.

Great Vacaiton
Spent the week of New years at Eldorado Maroma with my wife and another couple. The resort and the service was incredible! The entertainment team was fantastic Osvaldo, Marco and Gustavo did an amazing with all of the activities throughout the day and they put on a great new years party! We received terrific service in the restaurants and the Mexican party from Filipe, Arturo and Angel. They made sure to make it fun and were also very attentive. Octavio made sure to keep us well hydrated from bar 24 weather we were on the breach or poolside he was always checking to see if we needed anything. Great resort with a welcoming and friendly staff. 100% will be back.

Beautiful beach and good food!
Went in December right before Christmas and the resort was quiet but with options for activities throughout the day. The experience staffs (shoutout to the team - Gustavo, Marco, Alex and more!) were super welcoming and everyone on the resort was extremely attentive, constantly coming by the beach cabanas to check if the guests needed anything. The beach was spectacular, hotel did well to maintain beach to clear the sargassum. Meals were fresh and well portioned. Had minor issues with the room but they were quickly fixed. Would definitely revisit in the future for a relaxing vacation.
