  Horrible Vacation

  This hotel is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are very dated and dimly lit. Because the buildings are built on a slight slant, the doors in the bathroom would not close all the way. They tout 5 restaurants, but only 3 were ever opened - unless they count the buffet as a restaurant. The Asian and Italian restaurants were our worst experiences. From the time they took our order to the time we received our food, it was a solid 2 hours! The Italian place never even took our drink orders, so we went to the pool bar to get drinks. Both nights, members of our party left and went to the buffet rather than wait any longer. During the day, we struggled to find any chairs or towels. I could understand if the resort was sold out, but it wasn't. The pool parties they promoted never even happened. On our last morning I turned the TV on to check the weather for our flights and they had shut the TV off. Our friends encountered the same issue. When my wife and I went to the front desk to complain, we came back only to find out we were locked out of our room. They had to call maintenance to come drill holes to get the locks off so we could retrieve our luggage. Horrible experience. I do not recommend this resort to anyone. Save your money and book elsewhere!

  Pictures of our Past Vacation at Azul. Hotel seemed a bit worn down but beach was outstanding!

  Christmas in Jamaica- Lovely way to celebrate with Santa in Jamaica A gentleman named Shemamore made a stay for the week simply amazing! Almost every morning we had the pleasure of brightening our day while at Azul. The furniture in the room was a stained, hopeful they will replace all the over used furniture

  Poor value for money spent

  The resort lacks adequate beach furniture for “regular” guests. I witnessed fighting between guests and also staff regarding this situation. Lots of shade umbrellas for the “preferential” guests; broken umbrellas for “regular” guests. It caters to members or whatever designation some guests have. Lack of liquor supplies at all bars is a frequent occurrence. I was denied food at west end food because it was for “butler” guests. If you don’t tip for every service the service given reflects your glassware service; ie paper cups that crumbled before you finished your drink. Shortage of clean linens was a regular occurrence. I don’t know why guests have no regard for cigarette butts and garbage disposal? Horrible! Buffet needs improvement in food and decor and furnishings. Bread station needed a knife and better way to offer butter portions. More variety at restaurants; perhaps a daily special. Entertainment was not as advertised.

  The beach is beautiful but everything else is just OK!

  Pros- The beach is fantastic, the pools are beautiful and the staff is top-notch - friendly and helpful. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was ok. I had a great time because I spent most of my time outdoors. Cons - the place is shabby and run down. Do not be fooled by the pictures, the hallways are dark and the furniture is old and damaged. The outside needs repairs and paint. The outside furniture is in bad shape, even on the room balconies. Every chair I sat on, especially in the restaurants, was stained. The furniture in our room was scratched and stained. There was a bud-vase in our hallway full of dead flowers that was never moved during the 6 days that I was there. The restaurants were decorated fairly well but some of the design elements were broken and it made the overall look really bad and like no one really bothered to keep things looking nice. The overall decor was out-dated and worn out. The food was ok - breakfast was the best. There were options for dining - the meal at the Italian restaurant was good. It's hard to mess up pasta. The drinks were weak and there was not one piece of lime or lemon to be had. There was also a pretty decent lunch served on the beach. There were no snacks during the day except a little coffee shop. I did buy a $13 bag of chips in the gift shop! If you are looking for a fun place to lay in the sun, buy weed from people walking the beach, drink a lot and if food and decor don't really matter to you, this place is great. I would have loved it when I was in college. However, at this point in my life, I want to stay at a hotel that is at least kept as well as I keep my own home. I thought the price was too good to be true and it was. Remember - you get what you pay for.

  Very clean resort, amazing staff

  If you are one of those picky people expecting a 5 star resort this is not your place. Staff is amazing, liquor is not top shelf but there is plenty of it, food needs improvement especially lunch choices. Breakfast was excellent, dinners were just ok, coffee bar in lobby was great. While the resort is dated, it’s very clean which is really important to us. We stayed 5 days 4 nights, we booked a deluxe room and were upgraded to a premium swim up room which was amazing! Doors to rooms are heavy & loud when closing, we were in 31006. My husband was celebrating his birthday and the staff decorated the room for the occasion. We are not members of this resort so this is an honest review. If you want a budget resort & just want to relax & get away then this is the place.
