General Policies & Fine Print
Check-in Policy - Hotel requires a credit/debit card authorization or cash deposit upon check-in for incidentals; this will place a hold on your funds.
Convention Policy - Individuals attending a convention cannot book this property for their stay. If found attending a convention, guests may be subject to higher room rates upon arrival.
Transfer Policy - A price may display when children stay free, if your vacation includes transfer to your hotel.
General Information - Room taxes and service fees are included in vacation price. Minimum night stay restrictions may apply. Reservation changes may not be permitted unless authorized by the hotel.
Spring Break Policy - Bookings in the months of March and April will be subject to the following conditions:
- The minimum age requirement for check-in is 18. One parent or chaperone at least 25 years of age will be required per room for check-in.
- Students/youth between 16 and 23 years of age. Adults accompanying are responsible for the students’ behaviour. of the remaining nights.
- In the event that any guests engage in inappropriate behaviour or cause physical damages to the facilities, the Hotel Management reserves the right to expel the said guest without reimbursement or refund of the remaining nights.

Incredible week at Joia!
Houston was amazing all week and always made sure we had everything we needed for our stay! The food and drinks were excellente! All the staff especially Ery, Tobias at the bar and Altagarcia at breakfast were incredible Overall, the size of the resort, the beach and pools were perfect

Superhuman staff made this the best holiday ever!
We've been back from our stay at the Grand Bavaro for a few days, and we've never missed a holiday more than this one! The exceptional thing about this resort is the staff. Yes, it's a stunning location with fantastic facilities, and yes, the beach is gorgeous, but were it not for the incredible staff here, we wouldn't have enjoyed it a fraction as much as we did. We were there on our honeymoon, and we were made to feel like the most important people there throughout! During our stay, we were assisted by our wonderful butlers, Alex and Danilo. They were the two most helpful, most positive, kindest and hardworking people we've ever met! They made things so special for us, and anticipated our needs before we even knew we wanted or needed something. Their kindness, positivity and genuine dedication to making our stay a positive one was appreciated more than I can express. They are an absolute credit to the resort, and I hope they are appreciated by the company as much as I know they are appreciated by the guests. We were also treated by some friends to a gorgeous private dinner on the beach - a truly memorable experience that we will never forget. Our server that evening was Rafael, who worked so hard to make our evening memorable and special, and whose good humour, extraordinary effort and kindness made the experience even more special. Throughout our stay, the staff at the resort made everything so enjoyable and special. The dedicated housekeeping staff (including our wonderful night maid Perla) work so hard to make the rooms perfect. The incredible ground keeping staff ensure that every inch of the property is perfect. And the servers, chefs and bar staff in the restaurants, buffets and bars were so welcoming, hardworking and kind. Manuel, Santos, Michael, Yaritza, Francis, Kelsey, Nicole and Tomas in the lobby bar (who is also an incredible singer!) were only some of the amazing people who made every meal and drink such a positive experience. When you're not busy eating and drinking, the wonderful entertainment staff - Ruth, Yelli, Smile, Dai and the rest of the team - ensured that we all had so much fun! Dance classes fitness classes, games, music, shows - they work so hard to make sure that there is never a dull moment! We loved every interaction we had with the team, particularly with Yelli and Ruth, but the whole team were terrific. The foam party in the pool on the Friday afternoon was absolutely a highlight of the trip - so fun! And when you are just after a bit of a lazy afternoon floating in the pool, Hamlet and Dionis at the swim up bar have you covered with amazing cocktails! Although Tomas at the lobby bar takes the cocktail game to the next level - this is where you'll find the best drinks in the resort. Their Hot Exotic and Old Fashioned are out of this world! I've seen some reviewers saying they don't tip in resorts like this, and if that's you, give your head a wobble and change your ways! These guys work really long hours, and have long stretches of days with no time off, and they do everything that is asked of them with a smile on their faces. Every member of staff here is so committed to making your stay a pleasant one, and it is absolutely right that customers should thank staff accordingly with regular tips. It's also important to mention individuals by name if they've gone above and beyond in your reviews, as hopefully this means they get the recognition they deserve from their managers. Every meal we had was incredible. The buffet is fantastic, and every restaurant was top notch. There's a good range of beers, and a great range of cocktails and spirits available throughout the resort, but the wine selection is a little bit limited, so if you're a big wine drinker, this might be an issue for you. For us, the selection of drinks was great, but some more wine options might have been nice. All in all, our stay at the Grand Bavaro was truly amazing! Thank you to Alex, Danilo and Rafael, in particular, but to everyone who works so hard there, thank you so much for the best holiday we've ever had!

Back again in JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar
In Noveber 2024 our repeated holiday in JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar. The main reason for our repeated holiday are several: nice Long beach, clean ocean, perfect staff in all levels. Hotel permanently getting better and better and provide the best services. '

Beautiful Location / became very sick!
Hotel was amazing, staff was perfect, food was so-so. returned home on a Saturday evening 11/9, Monday morning was extremely sick - vomiting, diarrhea, aches,very weak, very very sick! Went to urgicare/doctor had bloodwork done, covid test, flu test, sars, etc everything normal there; concluded severe bacterial infection - as to today, 11/21, still not feeling 100%. Unfortunately I will never be going back. I gave this a rating of 1 as my health is more important than the view.
