Family Trip
We’ve been vacationing in Cancun since 2003. Stayed in many resorts, some better than others, but nothing ever really bad. The Sens was just average, nothing really bad, but nothing memorable either. Food was average at best. Service was below average, and sometimes nonexistent. Cups, plates, and trash left on the beach and around the pool, especially after lunch. We were disappointed in the lack of chairs around the pool. Very few places to leave towels and belongings. Some restaurants required reservations, which is normal, however, what is not normal is WiFi was very difficult to stay connected and reservations were required via an app. Impossible. Not to mention, the restaurants requiring reservations were always empty, and no admittance without reservation. These are management “opportunities”. Policies should be different. The one shining light for our trip was our beach attendant, Hervin. He was excellent, and took pride in taking care of the guests. We did not have a bad trip, but a few family members were in Cancun at an all-inclusive for the first time. This was not the best experience for them. We will not be returning to the Sens. There are so many resorts that are so much better.

Mixed Feelings About Sens Cancun
Our family just returned from a week at Sens Cancun, and overall, we’d give it a 3 out of 5. There were definitely some enjoyable aspects, but also several inconveniences that left us feeling underwhelmed. Cons: No Warm Welcome: Unlike other Caribbean resorts we’ve visited, there was no special welcome upon arrival. Instead, we were informed we had to immediately pay an additional tourist tax (MXN $1,360 for our family of four), which we weren’t expecting. Pushy Sales Pitch: Staff were very persistent in trying to get us to attend a sales presentation, which they didn’t clearly explain would take over 90 minutes—and oddly, our children were required to attend. We declined for that reason. Housekeeping Issues: Room cleaning wasn’t automatic. We had to request it daily at the front desk, and there was no “clean my room” door sign. Housekeeping staff didn’t speak English, which added some confusion. Uncomfortable Rooms: Our bed was extremely firm, the sheets were thin, and the pillows were flat. The room felt dated, with rust on the bathroom mirror and tap water that had a strange smell. It could definitely use some updates. Not Touristy-Friendly: The resort seemed more geared toward local guests. Buffet lines were long and crowded, and it was tough to find empty beach chairs. English-speaking families might feel a bit out of place. Mediocre Food, Lacking Local Flavor: Most food was average and leaned toward generic American-style options. We were surprised by the lack of authentic Mexican dishes. A highlight, though, was the fish tacos at Coco Restaurant—delicious! Crowded, Unappealing Pools & Arcade: The outdoor pools were consistently packed. There was an adult only area that included a nice pool and hot tub area, however, we did not use it. The arcade area included three pool tables, 6-8 video games, which all seemed to be broken, and a bar. The arcade area would have been nice if the games worked. Pros: Great Fitness Center: Spacious, modern, and clean—one of the better ones we’ve seen at a resort. Solid Breakfast: The omelet station at the breakfast buffet was excellent, and the servers were polite and attentive. Nice Beach Bars & Coffee Shops: The beach bars were a fun touch, and the on-site coffee spots served decent drinks and snacks to keep us going during the day. Beautiful Weather & Decent Beach: The weather in Cancun at the end of April was fantastic—warm and sunny every day. The beach itself was nice, though there was quite a bit of seaweed during our stay, and it could’ve been better maintained. Bottom Line: Sens Cancun might be a decent choice if your group speaks Spanish or if you’re not particular about amenities. But for international guests, especially English-speaking families, the experience felt a bit off. It wasn’t terrible, but we wouldn’t go back or recommend it.
