Bored with the same landscape? InterContinental San Juan is your gateway to adventure thanks to its prime location on Isla Verde Beach. This resort offers a beachfront vacation in the middle of the city. Built in the late 1950s by Morris Lapidus, the AAA, Four-Diamond resort has been renovated and, at only five minutes from the airport, is a hotspot for a Puerto Rican vacation. Great vacation!!!
My wife and I booked this little vacation on very short notice and for only a 5 day 4 night stay and we were very pleased with the resort. We purchased a garden/ pool view room and was automatically upgraded to an ocean view room. Our original booking included buy 1 breakfast and get one free. Breakfast included was a buffet and it was around $57 for two and the desk gave the discount at time of check out. The staff was great and very helpful at all times and didn't have to wait very long on extra towels as some have stated. Transportation to and from the resort was booked with ellegant steering and they were very prompt on pickup and return trip to airport. The hotel food was very good and drinks weren't all that expensive as other reviews have stated, two drinks on the beach was around $18 and they were very good. Ice water at the beach was free and all orders were promptly served. The pool was great eventhough we didn't spend much time at the pool mostly laid on the beach. The cafe at the beach was really convienent with excellent service. The only problem we had was that the bathrooms in the suites were very small and I felt like ripping the door off the hinges because it seemed to be an afterthought in construction. Also the safe in our room was not bolted down so someone could just take it out of the room but overall we would definitely reccomend the resort to anyone.

Vacation in Puerto Rico
The Intercontinental Hotel comes highly recommended. Our room 808 was updated and had a fantastic view of the ocean. The hotel was clean and the staff pleasant to interact with on All but one occasion. The refrigerator was not working in our room and we called the front desk. A maintenance man arrived 5 minutes later stating the appliance was working, he stated, "it does not get that cold, it should be used for milk and children's medication. This is why we have ice machines." I called the front desk to report this person's behavior and she stated you cannot over fill the appliance. I told her nothing was in there and it is warm. She sent another man up 10 minutes later, he looked at the appliance, said it was not working and replaced it. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay, the pool was large and we really enjoyed spending time there. The beach was also nice with ample lounges. We ate at the poolside and beach cafe's and both good. We did not eat in the other restaurants in the hotel, too expensive. The concierge, Luis, was very charming and gave us good tips on restaurants and traveling on the bus to Old San Juan. We rented a car from Avis in lobby and the woman there was also very pleasant. We recommend going to El San Juan for more variety of restaurants and entertainment. We would return to Intercontinental in the future.

Excellent Vacation
I was a little weary about mixed reviews , this was our first time to Puerto Rico and using Cheap Carribean . This was just what we needed we arrived on Friday at noon the hotel was even better than in the pictures , the staff was super friendly . We upgraded the the ocean view it was worth every penny to wake up looking at the ocean & beach . Everything was outstanding , we especially liked the food & drink service right on the beach . We spent 3 night & 4 days . I'm. Already planning out trip back here next year . It was one of the most relaxing vacations me & my hubby have had .
I have travelled to many places and stayed at many resort. Intercontenental is by far one of the best. Service was great,room comfortable and clean,i. Was placed in the wrong room but the matter was fixed immediately. 24 hr pool access,Which was great. - I wish it was however an all inclusive but the bar has few choices of delicious meals for about $10. Hotel is also walking distance to many great restaraunts like. Don Jose,platos,pui bello, Club Brava,and there is also a roof top bar hang out close by.This is my destination resort when i travel to PR again.

If you are not a US citizen, you should double check with the airline you're traveling with to determine what documentation you'll need to enter and exit Puerto Rico, as this can vary depending on your citizenship.

The Intercontinental in San Juan is not an all-inclusive resort - there actually aren't any all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Rico. There are a number of restaurants and bars on the property but they are not included in your package.

No, But you may get a deal which includes free breakfast or hotel credit. we got $200 credit per room for 4nights stay (just returned on Saturday and LOVED IT). Someone next to us at check-in had breakfast included with their reservation.
Food is easily found, however. Two outdoor eateries and four inside the hotel alone. Fast food and good local food all within walking distance.
There were live singers/music combos on the Friday night, but not the mid-week nights we were there.
We had two 19-year-olds with us. The staff is very friendly, and they had a lot of fun.
There are many hotels again within walking distance, so you can always check out the nightlife there, too.

We went mid October and it was beautiful weather. It's off season so it was a ghost town but we had a blast!
I personally would not go the end of August & September because it's hurricane season and PR does get hit.

There is guest parking across the street from the hotel. I believe it was $20 per day. They also have valet parking, but as we didn't rent a car, I'm not sure about the cost for that.

You are able to book air from the west coast for an additional cost than the package's advertised price.

When you in the process of the reservation it will have a place where it asks you for the airport you would leaving from, depending on that information it can change the price.

Usually, the air included packages assume flights out of Florida. The is an additonal charge for flights from all other locations. For instance, flights from Hartford, CT added $200 to the package. You can book on line but if this is your first CC experience, I would suggest you call them. The agents are extremely helpful.

We just returned on 12/22. There were showers every day but short. The temp. was about 80 degrees during the day and partly sunny. It was pleasant and the showers didn't interfer with our enjoyment. You might check weather.com for the averages for the time of your interest.

We didn't go clubbing. We are gamblers and The Ritz-Carlton and El San Juan are 24 hrs ...InterContinental stayed open til 4am. When we were out on the Isle Verde Blvd in the wee hours there were others still walking to or from other places. There were young and old even at 3 and 4 in the morning. Many of them were dressed up and seemed to have been partying somewhere. Old San Juan was empty at that hour...........It looked like a ghost town .....we couldn't find a taxi on the street down by cruise ship port and Sheraton casino hotel. We had to go back in the casino and have them call us a taxi after searching for one for over 15 minutes.

Small Casino at hotel and bigger one next door at the El San Juan Hotel & Casino. The band only plays on the weekends and the night club next door at the El San Juan is also only open Thursday-Saturday or Sunday nights. That is it for walking distance!

The weather is warm in June mid to high eighties. It is the beginning of the rainy season so rain showers are very common. It is early in the hurricane season so hurricanes are not as common during June as they are later in the season.

The hotel restaurants were expensive. Breakfast was $27 each. However you could walk across the street and have any selection of restaurant you want from Burger King to a very nice diner. Food was no problem.

The food at the hotel is expensive. Ruth Chris has great steaks but plan on around $45 per person not including drinks. Sandwiches were good at the other restaurants and around $15. Food is a bit less expensive outside of the hotel. You can find good authentic Puerto Rican and even fast food chains within walking distance.

There are no additional resort fees. Expect to pay alot of money to eat and drink or do anything outside of sitting at the pool or beach. If you want a cabana at the pool expect to pay, if you want an umbrella on the beach expect to pay. Also if you want to keep track of what you put towards your room ask for a receipt as it is not automatically given to you so that you can keep track of charges.
