Unexpected conditions
Upon arrival we discovered that the property had a fire several weeks before our arrival. The property was not fully usuable, including resturants that were not available as well as a section of the pool, which included the swim up bar. I paid additional for an ocean fron room which the view was great, however we could not use the part of the property due to the reconstruction. We had numereous issues with the
power in the room, leaking from from rain and receiving needed items that were not provided with the room.
We were disappointed that cheap carribean or the Majestic Colonel did not email us about the property condition to allow us to choose a different property.

Great place
We had been to the sister resort, right next door, for our daughters wedding 3 years ago and decided to go back and try it's sister resort.
Not disappointed then with the Majestic Elegance and feel the same with this trip to the Majestic Colonial.
Price, accommodations,willingness of the staff to help....etc.; all excellent!
Absolutely loved our vacation! We can't say anything bad about any of it. Cheap Caribbean made it so simple and affordable. I made one phone call to cheap Caribbean, told Marie what we were looking for and she made it happen. Every step of our vacation through Cheap Caribbean was simple. From the transfers to and from the airport, (which took half the time as our friends who booked through someone else) to our representative, Kelly, who made sure we had everything we needed. The Majestic was everything that we expected and more. The rooms were very clean. The staff was extremely attentive. There was a huge variety of delicious and incredible food. We really loved our vacation and hopefully will be able to go back soon!

This is an all inclusive resort and your food and drink is all included for whatever number of nights you book. You receive an adult colored band to wear on your wrist for anyone 18 years old and older. The children wear a different colored band.

We are not able to waive the single supplement rate. Our contract with the resort stipulates how the room rates are to be applied and we are not able to operate outside of those parameters. Please feel free to contact one of our destination specialists to discuss other options.

Need to find a hotel or resort where the building, rooms, balconies, and all common areas are 100% smoke-free, due to asthma and breathing limitation in the presence of tobacco smoke of any kind.
It is not enough to have only a smoke-free floor; the building itself has to be 100% smoke-free.

The alcohol selection in the all-inclusive packages include local brands and some international brands. I understand that they have served brands such as Stoli and Smirnoff but have been advised that the international brands are subject to change. Keep in mind that international brands are not necessarily considered "top shelf" from a US perspective but the bars and lounges are well stocked with a good variety of offerings.

The all-inclusive package does normally include access to all available restaurants, but you would need to check with the resort directly regarding availability and inclusions at the time of travel. Some restaurants do require reservations in order to eat there.

The resort is actively repairing the damage from the recent fire and expects to have the majority of repairs completed by May 8. Until that time the guests at the Colonial have access to all the amenities of their sister property, the Majestic Elegance. By all reports, everything is running smoothly with no disruption in service and the guests have been very satisfied.

The hotel has 658 rooms distributed in two different sections, Majestic Colonial and Colonial Club. Majestic Colonial offers 4 different room categories. Colonial Club (Adults Only) offers 5 different room categories.
Majestic Colonial: Pool, garden, or ocean view rooms, up to 4 people per room, allowing adults and children. Junior Suite Standard, Colonial Junior Suite , Majestic Junior Suite, One Bedroom Suite
Colonial Club (Adults Only Section): 18 years and up, with Majestic Supreme Service. Junior Suite, Majestic Junior Suite, Swim Up Suite, Ocean View Suite, and One Bedroom Suite.
All rooms at the Majestic Colonial are furnished in Colonial-style decor and marble accents. King size 4 poster bed or two double size beds, complete bathroom with jetted tub, independent walk-in shower with three functions: Rain, massage and soft, hair dryer, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, Satellite TV, sofa, telephone, high speed internet connection ($), mini bar restocked daily, bottle of champagne upon arrival, safety deposit box, coffee machine, working desk, iron and ironing board and terrace or balcony.
For your privacy and well-being, all rooms are equipped with presence sensors, which will inform the staff whether or not the room is occupied (do not disturb); only when the sensors inform of a vacated room will personnel proceed to call for an entrance. The rooms also have a "Room Service Closet" used for delivery and retrieval of room service articles.
Every single room at Majestic Punta Cana has its own jetted tub. Many of the rooms have direct access to the swimming pools as well, leaving every guest feeling like a VIP.
What We'd Change
There are not as many rooms as one might like. But the smaller resort creates a much more intimate experience for families and couples.

Located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, in Arena Gorda (Bavaro Beach), next to the beautiful Macao beach and only 22 kms away from the Punta Cana International Airport, 1 hour from La Romana International Airport and 3 hours from Santo Domingo's International Airport of Las Americas. The Historic City of Santo Domingo could be easily reached by road in about 4 hours. A new highway being built will shorten this time to 3 hours.
