Very nice place to go for the price

I travel a great deal to many different islands and resorts so I do want high quality where I go. I found this so nice and I loved the ocean view room. The beach was nice but the water was cold. At night I loved the way they had their main meals. The food is Ok but at night it was great. The only problem I had was the transfers going back to the airport 4 early hours they pick you up if you share a ride.. Also bring body lotion and shampoo they do not give you any. They have some kind of body wash in the shower that is not good for your hair. We stayed for 9 nights and I would go back again but not in May.

RIU Bachata

I have stayed at RIU Bachata 4 times with this last visit. I find that the rooms need some updating. Especially the air condition. Overall the place is good.

Great Value!!!

Great Entertainment Crew. They made the vacation fun for my wife and I. They are engaging with the guests throughout the day and night with all the festivities and activities. They will invite you to the dance floor especially if you are shy, but it really helps make the vacation enjoyable. There are nightly shows as well. One thing that was not so good was the lack of designated smoking areas. There were many smokers during our stay and it would be more enjoyable to have some more separation from smokers. I used the Amstar service for the airport transfer in Puerto Plata and they were excellent and well organized and informative on the do's and don'ts during your stay. The service staff at the front desk, in the restaurants, and house cleaning were all very friendly. From a service standpoint I would give this resort an excellent rating. Also from a cost perspective as well. The pool could have used a bit more cleaning, but it may be difficult to keep clean with a pool bar. The beach was ok. The water was too rough to do any swimming. I like the fact that there is a sister resort RIU Merengue within walking distance with facilities that can be used as well by RIU Bachata guests. Dining was ok. The food was somewhat repetitive, but there is a different theme daily where they will try to incorporate a different main dish in the buffet. The other options in their specialty restaurants were ok as well. The rooms were average. Nothing special. The bathtub was a bit too narrow and you may need to stand side ways to avoid contact with the shower curtain. Beds were firm which is good for my back, but pillows were very flat. Overall, we had a great time at this resort and felt welcomed. For the price and the enjoyment of the trip we thought it was superb getaway.

Why You Should Go

Several world-class, 18-hole golf courses and horseback riding are near by. Gotta hit these.

You can share all the bars/nosh spots at the sister resorts, Riu Mambo & Riu Merenge.

Rio Damajagua waterfalls & La Isabela National Parks are a short hop away.

You can get wet n' wild with snorkeling, body boards, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing.

You can rent a moped, explore the island, then, play a rousing game of table tennis.

Kids ages 4-7 and 8-12 can hang at RiuLand where they can play games in the pool while you chillax.
