Amazing way to spend my birthday!

This was my first time visiting Barbados and I would definitely go back after this vacation. The island is beautiful and small enough that you can see all the different parts and excursions the island has to offer in a short time period. The resort itself, Turtle Beach, was beautiful and the staff were amazing, friendly, and extremely helpful. I work in the hospitality industry so I know what it is to exude great customer service and each staff member we came across did an amazing job doing so. The only complaint I had about the resort is that the Wi-fi was not that great throughout the entire resort. Other then that the food was great, the facility itself is beautiful and the staff were great. Take advantage of all the water sports that have to offer the beach is amazing. Overall an amazing trip and I can't wait to go back!

Great Week on the beach

We have never been to Barbados before and didn't know what to expect. We have been to all-inclusive resorts before in Mexico so had something to compare the experience to. The service in the islands is very different to Mexico, the population just moves at a different pace. Once you adjust to island time Barbados and the Turtle Beach can't be beat. The staff is always willing to please, we went the extra mile to make the trip memorable. Turtle Beach is in a great location too, you can walk to St Lawrence Gap if you want a change of pace for dinner or drinks.

Pictures are sometimes not worth 1000 words.

The pictures really fooled us because this hotel was a lot smaller than we expected and the beach was really not a beach. Also, the hotel seemed a lot older than it looked in pictures. The hotel was quiet which was okay for us trying to relax, but if you want to have lots of activities to do, this hotel will probably not be the hotel for you. The service was excellent as all of the workers we encountered were very nice and resourceful. We did take a day trip to the sister hotel to enjoy the calmer beach and bluer water, but it rained for most of the day so it spoiled some of our time there. We were told by a Turtle Bay Representative that the sister hotel would give us a complimentary room to change and shower in after we finished at the pool, but they gave us an unclean room with the cleaning crew still in the room! It was gross because there were still used bottles laying around, unclean sheets everywhere, and hair all over the bathroom. Plus, the cleaning people were still in the room cleaning around us! We just changed really quick and left without using the facilities since the room was still dirty. The food selection was buffet style for the most part and only had 1 nice fine dining restaurant that was decent. The didn't have a lot of veggie options for people who don't or can't eat meat. But for an all inclusive, I give it 2-3 stars. Very average. The birds were sooo annoying during breakfast and sitting by the pool enjoying a snack. I guess there's nothing they can do about birds, but if you are afraid of them DO NOT STAY HERE! They get too close for comfort and if you leave your plate to grab a drink of something, you will come back to stolen food or birds joining your table to help you finish your breakfast. A little bird followed us the entire time. He even showed up to our balcony at times...lol. I swear it was the same bird from the pool each day trying to steal my potato chips. A plus, is the hotel is walking distance to the Gap where the night life is and also close to Ostins where the big fish fry is on Friday and the food was cheap and yummy. Plus, hanging with the locals was fun. The rooms were typical Caribbean rooms...not too large, simple, and quaint. The double room was more like two XL twin beds; not large enough for 2 people to share. We never saw any turtles, but heard that there were sightings. I guess we were just never around to see them in action. Bummer! Overall it was an okay vacation, but the hotel needs to be renovated and was not worth the price in our opinion. Plus, we weren't really told of all of the activities Barbados had to offer. We may have taken a few excursions if known about them. The hotel representative that set up our day trip to the sister hotel didn't really share any helpful information. Working in that type of position, she should have informed us of other things to see in her country.

worst vacation ever

I stayed at the resort the 2nd week of july. I am very disappointed, this was my most expensive family vacation and we were all unhappy. The resort was dull , there was not enough entertainment ,for example the beach party was lousy. The food was at a low variety, the only time i felt like i had a good dinner was when i ate at the beachfront restaurant. WASTE OF MONEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!

What's to Love

The easy walk to St. Lawrence Gap is one of our favorite features of Turtle Beach Hotel. Barbados nightlife is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

What We'd Change

The dress code at Asiagos might be a little too fancy for the more casual traveler. Just be sure to pack some shoes other than flip-flops.

Why You Should Go

If you can, make your trip during turtle-nesting season, April to November. It's an amazing chance to see endangered sea life.

Hotel Description

Turtle Beach Resort: Enjoy A Premium Barbados Hotel with Ocean Wildlife on the Side

The stretch of Barbados' South Coast that is home to Turtle Beach Resort isn't called "Turtle Beach" for nothin'. It's actually a sea-turtle nesting ground from April through November, and lucky December visitors just might catch a glimpse of a hatchling as it scrambles toward the sea.

The wildlife, though, is only the first draw of Turtle Beach Resort in Barbados. All inclusive packages feature the hotel's three restaurants, two freshwater swimming pools and a boat-load of water sports. Try your hand at windsurfing, or watch for tropical fish from a kayak or canoe. When you're ready to explore the surrounding town of Dover, make the three-minute walk to St. Lawrence Gap, or "The Gap" as locals like to call it, a hub of shops and vibrant nightlife.

An island vibe in a natural setting awaits you at Turtle Beach Resort. Barbados' South Coast beach seems laid out just for your viewing pleasure from the private balcony of your artfully decorated room. When you arrive at the hotel, the open-air lobby welcomes you with fresh ocean breezes and a laid-back atmosphere. Each of the rooms is a suite, providing you with all the creature comforts of home. But you're not at home, you're on a Caribbean vacation, complete with beach-concierge service bringing you fresh fruit and afternoon tea. And when it's time for dinner, sample fine dining at Asiagos, the highest-rated Italian restaurant in all of Barbados.

Bringing a handful of kids along? Turtle Beach Resort's Flying Fish Kids' Club is the perfect place for them to hang out and play beach cricket, table tennis and Nintendo Wii. Even "too-cool-for-school" teenagers like the foosball setup and pool table. And with the crackle of Caribbean energy in the air, those who join in the Kids' Club's educational and cultural activities will be too absorbed by their island surroundings to even realize they are learning. Meanwhile, it's playtime for the grownups as they relax in the whirlpool or embark on a rum distillery tour.
