A fun place

Very clean resort. Lots of activities. No shortage of alcohol. The food options were ok. Very cookie cutter generic food, nothing was amazing nothing was terrible. The staff was 50/50, either they were great and personable and fun or they were the exact opposite. More shuttles are needed to visit the other resort and if your booked in the last group of rooms be prepared to walk. A lot. The rooms are very basic. Ours had about a half inch gap under the door allowing bugs and lizards to walk right in. Security was good, the beach is clean and the overall resort is well maintained. Definitely some room for improvement but I would revisit /recommend

The perfect Beach vacation

If you are looking for a beach vacation, I do not see how you can get any better. The rooms are literally 3 steps from the sand and the ocean is right there. When you dream of a Caribbean beach, this is what you dream of. White sand, crystal blue water that you can see your feet in 6 feet of water and more, availability to kayaks and snorkeling gear, etc.. We wanted a beach vacation and that is what we got. We really liked the restaurant choices and especially the Red Parrot Caribbean restaurant and the appetizers at Pure Lime (Mexican). Although it did not bother us at all, if you want a drink you must go to the bars. There is no one walking around taking orders. Also, the pickup of cups and plates seemed very seldom and there were a lot laying around. Neither of these things really bothered us but when we used cheapcaribbean to go to Domican Republic last year, the service was outstanding. The beach and ocean did not compare to this beach so if you want to go for a beach vacation, this is the place to go. If you want to go to an all-inclusive where the service is second to none, this may not be the right choice. The bartenders are fantastic and the hotel receptionists and concierge staff are wonderful but the level of service did not compare to what we received in the Dominican Republic. We were after a beach vacation and got just what we wanted and more so was extremely pleased with Tamirijn.

Not a five star resort...but def a fun star !!!

Pros: access to both properties (Divi and Tam) Shuttles always running back and forth. Can always find drinks and food (maybe too easy) Beautiful beautiful beautiful beach Cons: Service was ok. Had to wait some time for drinks, help seemed understaffed and sometimes overwhelmed. Either way: Rooms are small but all are beach front Beach is beautiful but beach along entire property has bigger waves than other beaches. First few days was calm with mild waves, last few with larger waves. Tam is older and does not have the more modern feel as the divi, but it's the perfect place if you're looking for a more laid back atmosphere. Tons of excursions for purchase. Had a great time and would def do it again!

Details are what separate good from great

Cliff notes: If you are trying to decide where to go for a special holiday/vacation, GO TO ARUBA. If you aren't especially picky or needy, and can get a decent deal, stay at the Tamarjin. One of the boast is that every room is ocean front, which is nice for pictures, or if you have a family, but there's a busy walkway directly between each room and the beach, so it takes away from that. We were only there for 5 days so we didn't have a lot of days to just sit on the beach, and the rooms don't really offer anything special that you might need to run back for anyways so even if you did sit on the beach you have to walk to the nearest bar for anything to drink. I'll start with the good. Weather We went in early April and it wasn't super crowded, but there were plenty of people around to mingle with. The Weather was around 85 every day we were there which wasn't bad because Aruba is located in the middle of the Trade winds so there's always a breeze, however, the week we were there was especially windy. Food The food was decent. Although, there wasn't any "Aruba cuisine" at any meal that I saw. If you're squeamish about a couple flies or birds then eat inside for sure. Aside from not being able to order a mimosa or bloody mary until the bars opened at 11, the breakfast buffet was great and it stayed open until 11am. The lunch buffet at both Tamarjin and Divi were excellent. We tried almost all of the dinner restaurants (reservations are were a bit scarce but we didn't mind eating later in the evening) and I have to say that the "Red parrot" had both worst and the best meal of the week. BEST The wife ordered the teriyaki shrimp appetizer and the Steak for dinner. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE STEAK. the appetizer was meh... WORST fish platter comes with two way overcooked pieces of fish and one perfect grouper roulade. The palm grill was a hibachi restaurant which was also awesome all around. Beverages: The drinks are good and the pours are heavy, but most of the bartenders are super busy which often leaves the bar dirty and the service a bit short. The Beach/Pool The beach is exactly what you want when you think of exotic Caribbean get away. Perfect water perfect sand just wonderful. There are some buildings that have a lot of rocks directly outside, but our building didn't. The pool is a pool and is nice with plenty of seating. There's usually some sort of entertainment going on in the afternoon (bingo, small band, etc.). Events calendar When you go there'll be an events calendar they give you. Check it out. We found they had a free bike "tour" and snorkeling adventure which was pretty awesome, and free! It'll also tell you whats going on at the other resorts that you have access too. ________________ The bad Service: I'm not an especially picky person, not super fancy, and don't expect the world from resorts when I go to places. I've worked in hospitality and I understand a lot of what that work in places like this go through. That being said I don't understand why most employees at the resort we interacted with were NOT friendly. They weren't all rude necessarily, but most of the bartenders (except Julio) and buffet staff seemed slightly "miffed" that we were there. The front desk people were very nice, the Bartenders tolerated us but one of the workers in the buffet area, when asked for some water, responded with "Drinks are over there". Yes there were drinks over there but there was no ice and the juices and water were not cold. Night time entertainment: Left much to be desired if you expect to be entertained at all. They had one big show which was Carnival themed which was nice, but another was just a guy playing the saxophone. He played it really well but it was more like background music than it was entertainment. They had a band our last night there that was great. Shuttle Our room was a bit far from the nearest shuttle stop, which for us isn't bad because we pretty much walked everywhere anyways, but if you have mobility issue make sure you get a room close to the shuttle pick up.
