Signature Resort Drinks You Have to Try

Signature Resort Drinks You Have to Try

by Gemma Gosuico

After a long day at the beach, nothing's better than a cool, refreshing drink. If you're staying at a resort that has a signature drink, you've got to try it because you might not find that crafty cocktail anywhere else. If you're not sure which resorts carry signature drinks or need some signature drink ideas, we've got a few to get you started. Quench your thirst with these delicious drinks inspired by the sunny Caribbean and Mexico.

Jamaica's endless sun and fun will have you working up a thirst that can only be quenched by a Bob Marley at the Secrets St. James Montego Bay. Served frozen, a Bob Marley is a refreshing blend of rum, orange and blue curacao, strawberry daiquiri mix, lime juice, fresh mango, and sweet and sour. This tropical treat is blended with ice and served up in layers of Rastafarian red, yellow and green. While the frozen Bob Marley is a nice way to end a warm day, the flaming Bob Marley is a daring start to a fun night out. Grenadine, creme de menthe and rum are poured into a shot glass and then the rum is set on fire! If you want to look like a pro, stick a straw all the way to the bottom and drink up quickly, stopping just before you catch the flames in your straw. Once you're done, make sure to enjoy the rest of the resort. Secrets St. James Montego Bay overlooks one of the most pristine stretches of pearly white sand that Jamaica has to offer. Stroll along the beach peppered with thatched-roof palapas or venture out onto the glassy blue waters by kayak. Then you can head back to the bar for another Bob Marley. You'll be jammin' in no time.

Another great rum-based signature cocktail is the Rum Teazer. A crisp blend of El Dorado Rum, pineapple and orange juice, green tea, mint, lime and sugar, this cooling cocktail is the perfect companion to a day by the pool. Where can you get it? Just head to Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa. Tucked away in a lush, tropical oasis, Sandals Grande Antigua boasts a half-mile stretch of beautiful white sand, six pools, and five hot tubs. The largest pool in the complex offers a two-sided swim-up bar, the perfect place to sip on this refreshing cocktail.

Looking for something with fewer ingredients but the same kick? The Eye of the Tiger fits this mold. It's perfect if you prefer a simple blend of rum, cranberry and pineapple juice. You can get this signature cocktail at Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa. Plus you can find more than just great drinks at this resort. From the convenient retail village to one of the largest water parks in the Caribbean, this resort's got plenty to see and do. But once you work up a thirst, you'll have to head to one of its four swim-up bars where you can get some sun and drink up!

Although the Caribbean's got some great rum, we don't want you to think that's all they have. For a unique and rum-free signature drink, order a Guavaberry Colada at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino in St. Martin. Guavaberry is the legendary island liqueur of St. Martin. Made from the guavaberry fruit native to St. Martin, it's an important and cherished part of the island's heritage and folklore. The Guavaberry Colada is a perfect blend of St. Martin Guavaberry liqueur, cream of coconut and pineapple pieces. Visit the Sonesta Maho and head to the the Palms Grill restaurant overlooking Maho Beach to indulge in this resort's signature cocktail.

Of course, the Caribbean isn't the only place where you can get great signature cocktails. There are plenty to enjoy in Mexico, too. As you're lounging in the sun, listening to the soothing waves, make sure to order a Marquis Sunset Cocktail at Secrets Marquis Los Cabos. Made from Tequila Cuervo Gold, Damiana and Cassis Liquer, mangos and evaporated milk, this sweet treat is perfect for a day spent relaxing and working on your tan. In addition to the Marquis Sunset, you'll enjoy this resort's world-class golf, ten restaurants and waiters at the beach and pools.

So spend your days out in the sun and your evenings cooling down with one of these sublime signature drinks. Gather up your buds and head to the beach with a signature cocktail in hand. Cheers!
