Timeshare Style Resort
The Royal West Indies was a timeshare style resort geared for relaxation. Not the place you would go to for a wild and exciting trip. The hotel only has king beds - but we had a nice sized bathroom, kitchen and living room with a pull out. Also a private patio with table and chairs that opened to the pool. The furnishings were very comfortable and in good shape.
The beach is beautiful - the bluest waters I have ever seen. They were also very clean. There were always towels, lounge chairs and unbrellas available. The 2 pools - larger one by restaurant and a "quiet" pool for adults. They are small but nice.
September- October is the 'down season' so there were not many people - and several resorts and restaurants were closed. You need to call ahead and check.
I would suggest renting a car while on the island - the taxi's are expensive and unreliable.
Great value for that location!

loved the Royal West Indies!
I went to the RWI just for 3 nights, sadly! i lOVED it! every second of it! the pools were incredibly clean and nice..the beachfront amazing. the staff to me were super friendly and helpful. the room was in building 8 room 814, a patio view. it was quiet, super clean, nicely made up, loved the patio in the morning..the mosquitoes were annoying but didn't make me swell up. Nick and Pete, the chefs, were so accommodating re my food allergies..I wish I could have stayed longer but was very limited on time..next time will stay longer and I will stay again. Already recommended to family and friends. Also be sure to visit Mama's gift store in the first group of stores down the road towards the grocery store..they have some cool things and are very fun women. I went alone on this trip and can't have asked for a better ore more safe feeling place. Thanks to all at the RWI!
We just returned from a fabulous vacation in the Turks and Caicos.
Cheap Caribbean was a wonderful resource for booking our hotel and flight. I chose Cheap Caribbean over other travel websites as it had many more condo and flight options. Everything went smoothly and we want to return to Turks and Caicos again. We were thrilled with the relaxed atmosphere of the island and the resort!!! I am researching the website for our next beach vacation.
The Royal West Indies Resort turned out to be even better than we were expecting! We didn't want a big and "flashy" resort with lots of activity and this was just perfect. The resort is peaceful and beautifully landscaped, the pools are rather small but impeccably kept. The beach and the ocean are amazing!! There were quite a bit of custiomers at the resort, but it never felt crowded and we never had a problem to find chairs and/or umbrellas at the beach or by the pool. The staff is the nicest we ever had! Everybody went above and beyond to please the customers. We had a reservation for a botanical studio, but were given a one bedroom suite, which was a nice surprise! Then on the second day we discover some wet spots on the bathroom ceiling and the moved us to another room. To make up for the inconvenience they upgraded us to an ocean view suite, which was fantastic!! The only negative we can talk about is the cost of the food.... it is not cheap!! There are a few excellent restaurants walking distance from the resort, but but prepared to easily pay $80-100 per person for a 2 course meal + wine when you factor in all taxes and tip. There is a good grocery store just 5 minutes away by bike (the resort has free bike rental for their guests) -- groceries are not cheap either, but it definitely save you a lot of money in the long run if you have 1-2 meals a day in your room (all rooms have well equipped kitchens). There is also a pretty nice bakery/bistro just across the street from the resort that serves breakfast and lunch at resonable prices. Go there during happy hours (5-7 PM) everyday and their pastries and breads are half off (that took care of breakfast for us)!

The resort offers kitchenettes and even full kitchens in select rooms, so families with an eye on the budget can enjoy paradise without breaking the bank.

Hotel Description
Royal West Indies Resort: Turks & Caicos Beauty, Condos on Grace Bay
For your Caribbean home away from home, check into the Royal West Indies Resort in the Turks and Caicos. Sitting on what many call the best beach in the world, Grace Bay Beach, this delightful resort features condo-style accommodations with family-friendly hotel amenities.
Chill out at one of two free-form pools, reminiscent of a hidden tropical swimming hole, surrounded by thick foliage and shrubbery. For more relaxation, claim your spot in the spa tub in the adult pool. Or, stroll on down to Grace Bay Beach where 12 miles of soft, white sand overlooking serene waters offers the perfect afternoon of sun and surf. Your inner child will thank you if you throw off adult decorum for a while and go all out in the ocean with the complimentary Hobie Cats, kayaks or snorkeling gear.
When you are wonderfully exhausted head over to Pelican Bay Restaurant and let a delicious bowl of conch chowder revive you. This unique restaurant features both air-conditioned seating and an open-air terrace where the smell of grilled fish gently wafts on the ocean breeze. Evenings bring live music and special events for a bit of festivity.
For the ultimate vacation pampering, we recommend a treatment or two at Spa Tropique. The full-service spa is available for a wide range of indulgences, including the popular Strawberrilicious Hydro Boost Mask. Perhaps the best indulgence at the Royal West Indies Resort, though, is the opportunity to do nothing but sit on your private balcony, drinking coffee and watching the colors of the sun dance across the still waters. Along with those private spaces, all guest rooms at the resort have mini kitchens, washers and dryers and flat-screen TVs.
Because it sits right in the middle of Grace Bay, the resort is a great base for exploring the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands. Let the friendly staff help you book a snorkeling or fishing trip. Or, if you want an underworld adventure without the water, spend a day exploring the Middle Caicos Caves, where Mother Nature has used limestone to create incredible, natural beauty
