Overall, we loved the resort! Beautiful views, resort grounds and beach! It seemed to be a good value because of the amenities...hobie cats, paddle boards, kayaks, bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels and pools. The front desk staff were excellent! All the ladies were really nice and helpful, especially Deandra. We had requested a 2nd or 3rd floor room, but upon checking in we realized we had a 1st floor room, not good. Deandra moved us to the 3rd floor the very next day! The new room had a gorgeous view and was very clean. The restaurant at the resort was very good (with the exception of the pizza). The resort service was average for the following reasons.... our room had a toilet which plugged every day, they would come with a plunger (which they left in our room) but did not snake/repair the toilet until our final, 9th day! The resort has 2 hobie cats, however the beach staff would bring only one down to the beach daily even if there was a waiting list for their use. Less than a mile into town which was an added bonus!

Good value for the money, but not wonderful

First, I'll say that I would go back. It was good, and for the price, it was very good. However, there is definitely room for improvement. Most positive thing: the grounds. The resort is beautifully landscaped and the grounds are lovely. The rooms are comfortable, and we had everything we needed. They're not 5-star, but these are not 5-star prices, and the rooms are a good value. Our biggest complaint, by far, is that we reserved - and paid for - an ocean view room. In fact, this is why we chose this resort over another; the other resort didn't have an ocean view room available. We were thrilled to find that we were "upgraded" to an ocean front room - very front of the resort, facing the beach. However, we were given a first floor room with almost no ocean view. There was a hill separating the beach from the resort, so when sitting down, I couldn't see the sea AT ALL. We asked to be switched, and they showed us an "ocean view" room - the room we paid for. However, from everywhere in the room there was no ocean view - NONE, not even a peek-a-boo view. When you went onto the balcony, if you turned your body 90 degrees, you could see a silver of blue. We were very disappointed as the view was important to us. If you choose this resort, there are very few rooms where it is worth paying for the view. In the 2 buildings facing the sea, the 2nd and 3rd floors have a view. And, perhaps 1 other building has a distant sea view. Otherwise, just pay for a standard room. If a view is important to you, I strongly encourage you to talk with the resort before making your reservation. We found the dining options very limited. There is one restaurant on site, which we tried. We both had very good dinners, but we wished for a more casual lunch options while at the pool or beach. We also thought the prices were high when we ate there our first night, but they were definitely comparable to other restaurants we visited. The other negative is that the pool is unheated and it was COLD (January stay). It was so cold that we didn't see anyone in the pool. For this reason alone, I would seriously consider staying at another resort next time. A pool that is too cold to use is no fun. Overall, this is a nice resort. At the rates they charge, compared to other resorts, it is a good value. Other than the cold pool, we would stay again.

Very nice

Went to the Royal West Indies Sept 15th-18th 2016. The resort was beautiful, it was clean, very well maintained, super relaxing, amazing beach, and really nice garden. Was a little worried about the weather but it was ok. It was cloudy some days which affected the water a little and it did rain one of the days. Other than that it was sunny and beautiful. There is no entertainment on his resort so it was boring but if it's just for relaxing then this place is perfect. Happy hour was great 5-7 our bar tender Mac made the drinks pretty strong so that was a plus. The grocery store is in walking distance which was nice. Bottle water was pricey on the resort so going to the grocery store and getting a 24 pack of bottle water was great.

Hotel Description

Royal West Indies Resort: Paradise Abound

For your Caribbean home away from home, check into the Royal West Indies Resort in the Turks and Caicos, complimentary welcome drink in hand. Sitting on what many call the best beach in the world, Grace Bay Beach, this delightful resort features condo-style accommodations with family-friendly hotel amenities.

Chill out at 1 of 2 free-form pools, reminiscent of a hidden tropical swimming hole, surrounded by thick foliage and shrubbery. For more relaxation, claim your spot in the spa tub in the adult pool. Or, stroll on down to Grace Bay Beach where 12 miles of soft, white sand overlooking serene waters offers the perfect afternoon of sun and surf. Your inner child will thank you if you throw off adult decorum for a while and go all out in the ocean with the complimentary Hobie Cats, kayaks or snorkeling gear.

When you are wonderfully exhausted head over to Pelican Bay Restaurant and let a delicious bowl of conch chowder revive you. This unique restaurant features both air-conditioned seating and an open-air terrace where the smell of grilled fish gently wafts on the ocean breeze. Evenings bring live music and special events for a bit of festivity.

For the ultimate vacation pampering, we recommend a treatment or 2 at Spa Tropique. The full-service spa is available for a wide range of indulgences, including the popular Strawberrilicious Hydro Boost Mask. Perhaps the best indulgence at the Royal West Indies Resort, though, is the opportunity to do nothing but sit on your private balcony, drinking coffee and watching the colors of the sun dance across the still waters. Along with those private spaces, all guest rooms at the resort have mini kitchens, washers and dryers and flat-screen TVs.

Because it sits right in the middle of Grace Bay, the resort is a great base for exploring the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands. Let the friendly staff help you book a snorkeling or fishing trip. Or, if you want an underworld adventure without the water, spend a day exploring the Middle Caicos Caves, where Mother Nature has used limestone to create incredible, natural beauty.

This hotel is NOT all-inclusive. All food and drinks must be purchased separately.
Unless otherwise specified, all services are available for an additional charge.
