Royal West Indies, Turks and Caicos

This resort is nice. The one bedroom suite was large and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen a necessity since dining out is very pricey. We found a great restaurant just a mile down the way called "Fresh Catch", Wednesday night is all you can eat lobster night on the buffet. The grouper was excellent as well. At $40 per person the best dining option we had. The restaurant at the hotel, the food was fair and a bit pricey. The pepperoni pizza was good and so was the chicken. Sunday is the Jerk Fiesta, with jerk chicken and other options. You must like the spicey stuff to enjoy. The beach is absolutely beautiful, and that is why we went in the first place. White sand, clear turquoise water makes for a great day on the beach. The weather was hot and humid but the water felt so nice. The quite pool is a great option for the evening and the hot tub after the sun goes down. We also road bikes (free at the resort) and went to the grocery store where everything is at least twice as expensive as here in the US. We read the reviews beforehand and packed a lot of our own dry foods, like pancake mix, syrup, pop tarts, snacks, crackers, oodles and noodles and such. We bought milk, eggs, lunch meat, steaks, lobster and chicken at the store. The best bargain is watermelon, $5.00 for a melon it lasted all week. From the airport you catch a cab, $20 per person and I tipped the driver $10 each way. They were very pleasant. When we got back to the airport, I let one of the bag carriers get my bags, he then took me to the kiosk and helped me get my boarding passes, he was very helpful. I tipped him $10 too, it was well worth it. The airport is small and has limited options for shopping, therefore pick up any souvenirs in town before you get back to the airport. The dining options are also very limited and expensive. The second floor lounge is best, but no elevator or escalator you are forced to use the steps. There is a spa upstairs also where for $25 I received a 15 minute massage, also worth the money. Don't let them tell you to leave for the airport three hours early. It takes about 15 minutes to get there and maybe 20 minutes to go through customs. Leaving two hours before your flight is perfect during the off season. All in all, the island is very expensive. We have been fortunate to have been to Jamaica, Mexico, Punta Cana and Aruba. With the exception of Aruba all the other options are much more affordable and you get an "All Inclusive" resort. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, this is a great place, but I think you get more bang for your buck at any of these other locations. Carl .... Sept 19

Great 15 days!

My husband and l were so sad to leave Royal West Indies after our 15 day vacation. Our accommodations were so comfortable, the gardens and pools so quiet and relaxing, the beach, exquisite and the daily "2 hour" happy hour, usually with live music, so enjoyable. We have been visitors to T & C several times and this is by far our favorite resort. We often walked or rode the free bikes into town to eat or purchase groceries. We walked for at least an hour each day on the beautiful beach. My husband swam parallel to the shore for another hour each day and came out excited about the humongous starfish, live conchs, and other sea life he saw each time. And the sunsets...were amazing. Just look at my pictures. We will be back in 2017!

Amazing!

We stayed at Royal West Indies for five days in July. I was a bit nervous to book here since I read some bad reviews but I am so happy we did. (I am beginning to learn that people will complain about ANYTHING on online reviews.) We got a very, very good price on this as we traveled in the off season. CheapCaribbean.com was very helpful with the booking, and even changed our flights for us to a better time and airport which made things MUCH easier for us when traveling. Tthe weather was amazing when we went. It was about 95 degrees and sunny everyday, one afternoon it rained for about 15 minutes. It was not too humid and the beach had a nice breeze. The service is the only thing we could really complain about. The staff were slow and not very friendly, however they were perfectly helpful when asked. For example, we asked for directions into town to go to the grocery store, they gave us directions and told us it would be a 20 minute walk. We found out the next day from another guest that they offer free bikes with baskets to go into town. It would have been nice if they offered the bikes when we had asked for directions since they knew we were going into town, but we learned and used the bikes the rest of our trip. The beach is perfect. The water really is as clear, blue and beautiful as it is in all the pictures. There are plenty of chairs with tables and umbrellas to use, we never had a problems getting one. There are some water sports available through the resort for no extra charge (small sailboat, stand up paddle board, etc). There are two pools, one of them was a "Quiet" pool but we found both pools to be quiet and clean. We are "relaxing" vacationers, and it was nice to not have music playing all day and a party going on. The grounds of the resort are beautiful with lush plants and flowers. There is one restaurant on the resort, we only ate there once and ate at the bar several times. The food is good, not great, but nice to not have to travel outside the resort to eat. The rooms are very nice and clean. Very nice bathroom and small kitchen area with a microwave, fridge and sink. They have a small coffee maker, silverware and basic plates/glasses. We loved the resort and would definitely recommend booking here. So glad we did!

Amazing! Amazing!

Hotel Description

Royal West Indies Resort: Paradise Abound

For your Caribbean home away from home, check into the Royal West Indies Resort in the Turks and Caicos, complimentary welcome drink in hand. Sitting on what many call the best beach in the world, Grace Bay Beach, this delightful resort features condo-style accommodations with family-friendly hotel amenities.

Chill out at 1 of 2 free-form pools, reminiscent of a hidden tropical swimming hole, surrounded by thick foliage and shrubbery. For more relaxation, claim your spot in the spa tub in the adult pool. Or, stroll on down to Grace Bay Beach where 12 miles of soft, white sand overlooking serene waters offers the perfect afternoon of sun and surf. Your inner child will thank you if you throw off adult decorum for a while and go all out in the ocean with the complimentary Hobie Cats, kayaks or snorkeling gear.

When you are wonderfully exhausted head over to Pelican Bay Restaurant and let a delicious bowl of conch chowder revive you. This unique restaurant features both air-conditioned seating and an open-air terrace where the smell of grilled fish gently wafts on the ocean breeze. Evenings bring live music and special events for a bit of festivity.

For the ultimate vacation pampering, we recommend a treatment or 2 at Spa Tropique. The full-service spa is available for a wide range of indulgences, including the popular Strawberrilicious Hydro Boost Mask. Perhaps the best indulgence at the Royal West Indies Resort, though, is the opportunity to do nothing but sit on your private balcony, drinking coffee and watching the colors of the sun dance across the still waters. Along with those private spaces, all guest rooms at the resort have mini kitchens, washers and dryers and flat-screen TVs.

Because it sits right in the middle of Grace Bay, the resort is a great base for exploring the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands. Let the friendly staff help you book a snorkeling or fishing trip. Or, if you want an underworld adventure without the water, spend a day exploring the Middle Caicos Caves, where Mother Nature has used limestone to create incredible, natural beauty.

This hotel is NOT all-inclusive. All food and drinks must be purchased separately.
Unless otherwise specified, all services are available for an additional charge.
