Beautiful resort, great location, beware if booking a suit
Ok, so first of all, the resort itself is amazing! Great location, great service, overall a wonderful trip. That being said, we had issues with our room that we felt were not handled well. My friend and I booked a suit for my birthday. Upon arrival we were told the suit only has one bed. As we are not a couple, this obviously wouldn't work. Apparently the double bed suits are “subject to availability” I had even emailed Riu AND asked through the app for two beds. But still, they messed up. We arrived 5th of Nov and they told us our suit with two beds would be available Nov 9, which is ridiculous. Night one we stayed in standard room. Night two we stayed in suit with one queen bed and a cot which they added. We decided to keep the room we were in as we wanted to settle in and unpack. The way this was handled was a little upsetting. They made us feel like it was OUR fault for not wanting to share a bed. Which is insane. In the end, it was an awesome trip. Staff were great, location amazing. The fact you can visit two other Riu on the same block was very cool. We spent lots of time at Riu Tequila (3 min walk) as it had a really cool 24hour sports bar with AC. Lots of cool wildlife on the resort too. The entertainment was great. Shoutout to Brian, Esme and Fernando! The food was ok at best. But I am very easy to please in that sense. Beach was perfect. It was very difficult to find seats near pool/beach unless you woke up very early. People would claim chairs for the day and basically not use them, which was annoying. Guests of the resort were great. Met tons of cool people. Mostly brits, Spanish speakers, and fellow Canadians. Pools and overall layout was great. Very family friendly. Town was close by as well. Very cute little town. Piece of advice, everyone will try and scam you! Whether on the beach or in town. Be aware and be smart. Don't overpay like I did lol. Most bartenders were great. Shoutout to Karen, Chavez, Bety at Yucatan, and Andrea at Tequila. Definitely recommend getting the app to see whats going on at all three Riu resorts you can access, as it varies every night at each resort. Bring small bills for tips, it goes a long way. Lastly, they water down the alcohol. As I am sure most resorts if not all do. Recommend to buy a bottle of something somewhere to add if you want drinks that actually have alcohol in them. And the beer situation was sad at best. They have ZERO refrigeration for the beer. So if you are a big beer drinker like myself, the beer was borderline undrinkable. Was tough to swallow, pun intended. Beer from mini fridge was the only cold beer on resort. Overall amazing trip. If the room issues didn't happen, it would have been 5 stars! Will be back next year :)

One to remember
Just returned home after an amazing stay at the Rui Yucatan! The location, facilities, and cleanliness were perfect but what made the stay unforgettable were the staff who went over and above to ensure we were thoroughly satisfied. It would be impossible to remember the name of each of them but a special shout out goes to Juan at the Ibiza bar and Maybeth in the beach restaurant. Matthew/Fernando (entertainment team) was superb, his energy and enthusiasm beyond limits and he truly made our holiday one to remember!! Thank you 🤩

Still delivering good service in this tropical hot spot
I returned after 16 years to this hotel with my daughter The number of hotels on the Mexican coast have probably tripled but it was still value for Money These are the positive things I will comment on If you like tropical gardens and a nice beach with sea you can swim in it’s for you the gardens at the Yucatan are the best a walkway of tropical trees and plants and if you lucky a couple of Monkeys the group of Rui s all do all inclusive and the quality of food cannot be questioned there is something for everyone in the buffet restaurant Considering the size it is run smoothly and the staff work hard The two specialty restaurants we used Steak and Italian were also good quality and enjoyable . You didn’t need to book Rooms were clean and well kept beds comfortable The entertainment is there I wasn’t a great lover of the all day and night program but like I said it caters for everyone If you’re into a rave there’s the weekly white and neon party! The setting of the hotel on the beach is great, due to the recent storms the sea has been a bit churned up with sea grass but the staff are out every morning cleaning it up The bar staff serve up as many drinks as you can drink At the pool or the lobby bar The lobby had a great atmosphere at night The one negative comment I would make would be about the pool area Particularly the swim up bar only one word to use- minging And the hot tub needs severe attention no water shoots! Thanks to all the staff keep working hard you are a credit to RUI and bring the guests back A couple of trips we did worth mentioning A walk left along the beach to the while beach at the end of the hotel zone amazingly clear A snorkelling trip with the diving crew building to the left of hotel

Couples and groups, teenagers
Location is good, 150mxp in a taxi to town. About an hour from the airport on coach, we was the first drop off . Rooms are very clean but the furniture is dated , beds are comfy. Hotel is great some missing tiles in the pool etc but very clean, beautiful to look at, atmosphere is what you want it to be party, chilled , active or full of lots of entertainment and activities . Always a sunbed and never any big ques for drinks or food. Premium drinks in all bars, and in a glass at the non pool bars. Staff are lovely and they all seem to be really happy in their jobs. Cons.. we got asked for cocaine alot not just in the town but also in the hotel on the beach. The town is full of drug dealers, scammers and massage parlours asking if you would like a sucky sucky. We got robbed and a taxi driver lied and tried to charge 1000000mxp for a trip back from town to the hotel. The shop in the hotel charges 17 pounds for a bottle of water packet of crisps and 2 small bags of m&ms. Do not use your card. They charged me 450 pounds in a shop instead of 450 mxp. Only take cash and change it before you come as the ATMs are all switched off in the town. The hotel kept blocking my door fob if they wanted to speak to me, which I dont find acceptable. Pros. Staff are nice, reception manager was lovely. Trips on offer are amazing , I recommend the turtle swimming trip but there was tax to pay I wasn't made aware of at booking. Definitely go to a sanote WoW. This was my second time in mexico, I didnt have any trouble the first time I came. I would advise not to go to town, only use cash and stay in the hotel unless going on an organised trip. I cant really fault the hotel really they tried their best to look after me following our ordeal. The only issue I did really have was my lack of sleep from the alarms and door slamming of other residents smoking in their rooms and not being considerate of others by not holding their door.

Amazing holiday
Lovely 9 days Holiday, back in Mexico after 10 years and I am so happy we chose this resort. Rooms are dated but very clean, Marlene the cleaner did such a fantastic job. Also I want to thank Carlos at reception for helping us with my parents situation as they had to leave early. Food is very good, fantastic drinks, beach is very clean, the pool too. Thank you for a fantastic holiday, we hope to return soon!
