Great value
The resort is great. Its very modern and up to to date. The pros: its close to the beach, so a short walk from any room, and that the staff was kind and friendly. its close walk to the riu Tequila, whereyou can go tcheck out their pool and restaurants also. They have a better beach bar pool then the yucatan for sure. cons" the poor bars close Early like around 6 or 7 however the other bars around there were open later. Seems like things calm down there after 11pm. Overall a great resort and a great time. If you wanted some action its a 7.00 cab ride to 5th ave downtown, which was a blast.
i would definetly recommend this hotel!

good for the price
The beach was beautiful but very crowded. Service was excellent, staff was super friendly. Food not so great but we knew that going in. They did however put on a very nice dinner for New Year's. The beach was loud and next time we will look for less of a party place.
I had a great time at the Rui Yucatan. For my first all inclusive trip it was an all around good time. The service at the hotel was great, we felt as though they listened to any concerns we had and did their best to fix any problems we were having. The beds were the number one thing I would have changed, they were rock hard. The food was prob the 2nd thing. It got a bit redundant over the 5 days. But the mexican restaurant was out fav. For two single girls in their late 20's it was hard not to miss all of the couples and older people, but we pretty much went outside the resort for entertainment. It's a short cab ride to awesome nightlife and shopping. Overall we were happy because the beach was amazing and that was the number one thing on our list.
This was our 3rd stay at a Riu Resort. At Riu you are never pestered to buy time shares as you are in most other resorts. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. Meals were generally very good. The entertainment was usually very well done (some of the floor shows were of Los Vegas quality!). The daily activities were also very well done. We will be going back to another Riu resort in February!

The resort can be booked as a hotel only reservation, however most of the specials are based on pricing with airfare, so the pricing will not be the same if you purchase it hotel only.

Located in the Yucatan peninsula, 1.9 mi from Playa del Carmen and 34 mi from Cancun International Airport.
This beachfront resort is located in the Playacar resort complex, adjacent to a championship golf course and a 10-minute walk from Playa del Carmen's main streets. The ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum and many world-famous reefs are located nearby, as well as "Mexican Street" with a beauty salon, gym and a variety of shops.
