All the employees were very nice. All Inclusive is a great package deal. Food and drinks all day. Food is Average. A lot of choices but if staying for a week or so it can become repetitive. Excursions were set up right on the premises and they made it extremely easy. The rooms were very nice in set up, but the walls are paper thin. Heard people screaming in the hallways, doors slamming all night. People playing music next door to us. That was the only major Con.

Riu Caribe 2017

This was our second time staying with RIU in Cancun -- last stay we were next door at the Palace, and what a difference between the two properties. The Caribe was nice, and it served its purpose, but it did not "wow" us as the Palace did. The rooms at the caribe were very similar, but need much updating. mold stains in the grout in the bathrooms, rust stains in the tiles from the shower hardware.. just little things that could be fixed to make the guests stay feel a little more.. clean and comfortable. The food was, eh, alright. we found what we actually enjoyed and stuck to those same food choices all week. all of the pasta sauces were super salty. one suggestion for breakfast would be to have 2 different chefs preparing the made to order omlettes and another chef preparing the different styles of eggs for the buffet line.. once the chef begins taking orders for the made to go items, the other stuff is left empty and it seemed very difficult for them to catch up. another issue is seating by the pool/beach -- most visitors claim their spots first thing in the morning to get a prime location, which we caught on to the very first day and then began doing the same. problem is, the first 2 days we took this approach, our towels were stolen by larger groups needing those chairs/towels. honesty is a huge issue which people at some times aren't, and it is a shame. just beware that if you do save your spot by placing your towel on your chair, it is not guaranteed... the drinks had little to no alcohol in them.. we were almost sick from the sugar in the drinks before feeling any sort of relaxed from the alcohol. we also did not feel the need to be hassled every day, multiple times, by the activities crew. I know it is their job, but if you ask us to Zumba or beach volleyball and we say no, we said no. don't give us a hard time and ask why or then start to beg.. also, one morning at 330 AM the fire alarms went off for about 30 seconds.. we peeked into the halls to see if anything was going on. our fire extinguisher was clearly used all throughout the hallway. we were not notified of anything, so just assumed we were safe.. the mess of the extinguisher powder remained all over the hallway until about 9AM.. I know all of this sounds super negative, but overall, the trip was still enjoyable. the staff was super friendly and the public areas were kept very nice and clean. I do not think we will come back to the Caribe again, but would definitely take another vacation next door at the palace.

Good Value, lots of fun

Hotel renovations definitely helped the look of this hotel. It was clean, spacious, and beautiful. Definitely not a 5 star resort, but absolutely worth the value, especially when you're on a budget but still want to get away. The sand and beach were great, despite the inevitable seaweed which can be expected. They had crews out every day removing the excess seaweed though which was nice. Drinks and food were great, highly recommend Maria Margarita, great food there. The only things that were really bothersome was the soundproofing. You could hear anyone who walked by our door almost as if they were in the room with you. And because of the openness of the hotel, it would echo and be louder, which was just a little bit annoying. However, I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Room was awful

Upon check in we went to our room that still had food and trash in it from the previous guest. They could not relocate us due to the hotel being full. Poool was nice but good luck getting a seat unless you went down there at 4 am to put your Towel to try to reserve. Food was ok but there was they same choice day in and day out. We will go elsewhere in the future. We love the riu chains but this one is on the bottom of my list
