8 February Days at Presidential Suites Punta Cana

We spent 8 days (Feb, 2017) at the Presidential Suites - Punta Cana. We booked Amstar transport for travel to and from the resort when we bought our Cheap Caribbean package and they were reliable and efficient. Check in at PS iis at 3:00 pm. It was quick and easy and we were assigned a 2 bedroom suite with kitchen area, dining room/living room area, bathroom with tub/shower and master bedroom and bath. There was an ironing board, alarm clock, coffee maker and 3 flat screen TVs. The kitchen is sparsely equipped which doesn't matter because we didn't need it as the resort is all inclusive for meals and drinks. Presidente beer, water and sodas are in the refrigerator. The apartment was clean and comfortable with great A/C and water pressure. The mattresses were too firm for our liking and the sheets aren't fitted so they come undone easily. The master bedroom toilet didn't flush properly for most of the 8 days. The shower water came out onto the bathroom floor so we had to use up all our towels to soak it up. We used the bathtub/shower in the other bathroom for 7 out of 8 days so we didn't have to clean up the floor after each shower. The resort lost electricity and water for half a day one of the days. We managed just fine as it was during the daytime when we spent all our time outside. We were in Building 2 on the first floor facing the pool which was very nice. The walk to the buffet and the beach was no more than a 5 minute leisure stroll. The pool was fairly quiet most of the time we were there. The property is well maintained and the pool is cleaned by master pool man, Lilo. We enjoyed the umbrellas, loungers and chairs along the length of the 2 narrow pools which are in between the two rows of buildings. The beach is small, but has lovely white sand which is raked daily so it's nice and clean. There was a constant trade wind which kept us comfortable all day and night. The turquoise sea water is some of the nicest we've seen in the Caribbean and the ocean bottom is completely sandy. Staff is at the ready to retrieve a beach lounger and put it where you want and get you a towel. There isn't too much shade on the beach so folks get up early in the morning to reserve their shade spot. The buffet restaurant has plenty of seating and a wide variety of foods. The salad, vegetable and fruit bars were fresh and delicious...a real favorite of ours at each meal. Soups, sides and entrees varied throughout our stay so that there was always something new to try including Dominican specialties. The deserts were delicious as was the ice cream. We were very satisfied with our selections at the buffet. We were allowed one visit each to the Japanese and Italian restaurant which offered lovely menus and table service. You go to the lobby at 9 am to make those reservations. There is a bar in the buffet that the staff retrieve drinks from during meals....most anything you want. There is a small outdoor bar on the beach for drinks as well. Waiters and waitresses attend to guest's drink orders on the beach and poolside if you don't want to walk to the bar. There is a snack menu also that we were never hungry enough to try although we did see others take advantage of it and the food looked good. The Entertainment Team engaged guests in beach games, yoga, aerobics, volleyball, etc and do an amazing job from morning until late at night making sure you are enjoying yourself. They are a friendly, funny group who work very hard to entertain the guests. In the evenings there was additional entertainment from a feature 'act' and the Team. We enjoyed all of them very much while having a few cocktails and chatting with other guests. Presidential Suites claim to fame has to be the hard working staff from the maid tending to our room, the pool staff, the dining and kitchen staff, bar servers, beach attendants, landscapers and the entertainment team. For all the long hours and days they put into servings guests, they are always smiling, friendly and ready to meet your needs whatever they may be. I can't say enough about how much they made our stay a pleasure. All tips from guests were received with so much appreciation. Our ONLY complaint was that we were approached for the first 4 days by staff who want to sell us a timeshare plan which we had no interest in. We said no for the first 4 days to persistent sellers which was annoying as all we wanted to do was relax, have fun and enjoy our hard earned vacation. If you weren't already a plan member/VIP, you got approached by them so we saw this happening with other guests throughout our entire vacation. These sellers also canvas the beach as folks from other resorts walk the beach which was distracting as you were trying to enjoy the scenery and relax.

Positive First All-inclusive Experience

I feel the resort was a good value. The staff is friendly and attentive. The beach and room was clean. The food was hit or miss. We must have hit Himodos on a bad night, the 'asian' food was very sub-par. The breakfast and dinner buffet were decent. Basil & Tomato was a much better option for dinner. The dinner reservation was limited to 2 per week, first come, first served basis. Must be booked in the lobby around 9AM in person. That system isn't very convenient or efficient. We avoided and declined the time-share meeting. Avoid the vendors on the beach who approach you. Just smile, shake their hands, and say 'no, gracias'. Do your research on all-inclusive travels! All-inclusive resort are as fun as you want it to be. If you're with friends/family and make vacation acquaintances, you will have a grand ol' time. Participate in games and events, arrive and maintain a positive attitude. Drink in moderation. I drank in excess of course. Our room was clean. Per my preference, the bed was too firm and pillow too lumpy. The A/C in the room blows air along the wall and into our faces, making it feel very drafty. Didn't spend too much time in the room though. The beaches and water are beautiful on a sunny day. Come and Enjoy Punta Cana!

Horrible "resort"

This was the worst resort in Punta Cana. I booked this place cause I liked the pictures of the rooms on line. I requested an ocean view cause I was going to propose my girlfriend. When we arrived, they gave us a 2 bedroom suite facing some kind of an old building-warehouse. They promised to change our room later on, it took two days. We were there for 5 nights only. Really not helpful changing rooms 2 days afer. anyway, they changed our room, after 2 days, to a top floor with a terrace. we stayed there 1 night. After the first night, when we came back for lunch, the room had a bad bad bad odor. I think it was either a dead rat or the AC filters that caused the problem. They moved us again the last night on the first floor to another building. So we changed rooms twice. We never got our clothes out of the suitcases. My gf, now fiance, and I got sick the fist night after dinner. We ended up in a hospital. probably because of food poisoning. Nobody at the hotel helped us get in the taxi, and no body cared to ask the following day or any day for that matter how were we doing!!!! The restaurant is horrible, horrible. There is not enough food or varieties of food. You wait on line forever to get eggs. Army chow halls in Afghanistan are much better. Seriously. They have an Italian re4tsuarnt they call it, but it's really 4 tables outside in front of the dinning area. There is a Japanese restaurant that cant accommodate enough people. You have to book in advance. We managed to get one night. One of the doorman's or something called the restaurant captain and made it sound like a favor. We got in and half of the place was empty. Service at the diner restaurant is horrible. I had to serve water myself few times. Numerous times I asked for coffee in the morning, after I was seated, and we finally got some guy who brought us coffee. I had to ask 4 different servers. They never came back again to ask for water, coffee, or any juice. Nada. We only ate breakfast, lunch and dinner once. The rest of the stay we ate outside. We only slept at the "resort". The beach is a small tiny place where you basically seat next to anybody else. There is no privacy at all like in other resorts. My rating: zero. We used outside beaches. Most of the male people working at the resort were very disrespectful. always harassing guests especially when they would see a beautiful woman. I was in numerous occasion ready to punch someone in the face. There is no entertainment or anything going on in there, but I already knew that when I booked it. There is only one small bar that don't have enough drinks. They even ran out of Baileys when I seat there the first day we arrived. We never used it again. So, basically, we were booked at the "resort" but other than sleeping there, we never used it for anything else. I will never go there again, or recommend to anyone else. As a matter of fact, I will write these comments on trip advisor. By the way, I have worked in hotel industry for 10 years as a front office manager. I know the industry. well, total disappointment. PS: I really liked Luis, one of the bellmen. very nice guy.

Definitely my favorite place!

I am so happy with my purchase at cheap Caribbean.com! I was a little skeptical purchasing online - site unseen, but I was very pleased with the results. The resort was nice, clean, service was excellent. It was definitely what I would call a starter 'all inclusive', but since it was my first experience with one, I was very satisfied. They did not have an incredible amount of amenities, but I did have a relaxing time experiencing the culture as well as the Dominican Republic beachfront! For the money, I don't believe you can do better anywhere else. I would definitely come back again to this resort. We did a couples massage at the spa, it was definitely the best massage that either me, or my wife have ever had. The wait staff was very attentive and polite, always willing to go above and beyond for our requests. The beach was well-maintained and facility was clean. Overall I dream about going back every single day :-) We did an excursion that was offsite and being with the tour guide was a great experience, and we were given a taste of the local lifestyle. The Dominican people are so friendly and excited for tourists, since tourism is their number one source of income. It was refreshing to be appreciated as a tourist. I cannot wait to visit the Dominican republic again!

Definitely my favorite place!
