kind people

The people at the Resort and in Tamarindo in general were very nice. Most everyone spoke decent English. The food at the all inclusive buffet was ok. The food at the al la carte restaurant was phenomenal. The pool was good. The only downside about the pool was that they played music up beat dance/cardio music all day long. The beds were decent and everything else in the room was great. Be careful going on the mega combo tour with any of the excursion companies. We were in a bus or van traveling down potholed filled roads for 3 hours there and 3 hours back. I wouldn't of gone had I known how long we were going to be in the van/bus. The zip lines were great at Rincon de Vjejo volcano, but the concrete water slide was pretty rough.

Great value

Great value for the price. Staff was very nice and the pool and dining area were always very clean. The food was wonderful so many options. A walk away from downtown Tamarindo where you can purchase anything you'd need. I would suggest buying a prepaid sim card at the airport before you leave though because they charge you for WiFi by the day. It's $12 a day for 1 device.

Hotel Description

Occidental Tamarindo - All-Inclusive: Hello, Playa Langosta

Nestled peacefully on the lush, tropical shores of Playa Langosta, in Costa Rica, caressed by clear blue tides rolling over the white sands, the all inclusive Occidental Tamarindo beckons one and all to indulge in sustainable luxury. Awarded Four Stars from Blue Flag for safe and clean beaches, and Three CST Stars for accomplishments in Sustainable Tourism by the Institute of Tourism and the Hospitality and Tourism Industry of Costa Rica, this resort offers a pristine and healthy environment where you can relax and unwind.

Recline on the soft, white sands of the expansive beach, enjoy time poolside to work on your tan, or improve your flutter kicks courtesy of a massive main pool. There's a Jacuzzi and a Poolside Snack Bar in case you happen to develop a case of the munchies. Speaking of food, the A La Carte restaurant offers a fine-dining experience, featuring international cuisine, while the main buffet offers a variety of readily accessible dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Enjoy spa treatments during the day, including full-body and beauty salon treatments. Try your hand, or your foot, at one of the beach soccer fields; grab a bow for a little friendly archery action or test your flexibility with the gymnastics and aerobics activities. Looking for something more? This area is well-known for its excellent scuba and snorkeling spots. The Hacienda Pinilla Golf Course is just 15 minutes from the hotel, and this 18-hole, 7,300-yd, par-72 course is the brainchild of world-class course designer, Mike Young. The course recently earned certification from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for its preservation of the natural ecology. And if you're visiting between October and February, you might witness the nesting of the leatherback turtles, at the nearby national park.

Armed with a private balcony or terrace, each guest's Superior Room offers secluded, outdoor access, where you can reflect on the day and get ready for the morrow.
