Beach front of Majestic. As our friends from home were shoveling feet of new snow, we were barfing rainbows!

Got some kinks, but otherwise wonderful!

My wife and I stayed at Majestic Mirage from March 6 – March 13. The first thing I would like to say is that if you can afford to spend thousands on this vacation you can definitely bring some singles to tip. You don’t have to go crazy, but even a dollar here and there goes a long way for the employees. It is evident every day that all the employees from the landscaping crews, housekeepers, butlers, pool/beach concierge, and restaurant staff are working very hard to make sure that you have a great vacation. I could tell that they take pride in what they do. We were there for 8 days and 7 nights and I brought $150 in singles which was more than enough to get us through the vacation. Daily tipping was like this: $2 for the housekeeper left on the pillows, $1 in the mini fridge for the person that restocked, $1 per round for a bartender or concierge person if they got me a drink, $2 if we ate at the buffet, around $4 if we ate at one of the restaurants, and I think I gave our butler around $20 total for the entire trip. Plus the staff definitely remembers tippers and will almost fight over having you in their sections at restaurants. I understand that gratuity is included in the price, but these people work hard for what I am sure is little pay by the resort. Feel free to also go up and give the tips to the actual server, I am not sure if they pool them together, but they appreciate it when you hand it to them. The resort definitely has the feel of luxury. Our check in was painless, a little paper work, get your wristbands, and you’ll be taken around the property on a tour by someone. The beach is incredible as you would expect, white sand and blue clear water. Get down to the beach around 9 if you want a prime spot in the sun. Around 2:30 -3 the beach really dies down. You can even have a beach concierge set up your chairs and towels in a spot when you get down there. The beach concierges will sometimes walk around and take drink orders, but they are very slow (15-20 minutes) and you are better off going to the bar yourself. There are no towel cards or anything like that. They have stands with the towels on them and you just grab what you need and put them in one of the numerous bins when you are done. We are very low maintenance and hardly used our butler at all. His name was Franklin and he made himself available for us and asked if we needed him to do anything. He did take care of some room issues for us and made dinner reservations. The only thing that I wasn’t a fan of was other butlers we would see on the beach daily checking in with their guests. That only happened once and usually we got a phone call around 6 at night to see if we needed anything. It would have been nice to actually see him daily, but he tried. The food and drinks are good. All top shelf liquor and they have Presidente as well as Heineken and Coors Light. The food quality was better than other resorts we have stayed at (Majestic Colonial and Ocean Blue and Sands) and we didn’t find ourselves craving Mcdonalds by the end of the trip like in the past. We ate at the buffet for breakfasts and lunches, nothing mind blowing, but you’ll be able to find something you like. We also at the sports bar, sea side, steak house, and the hibachi. Sports bar was good and everything tasted as it should. Steak house was our favorite and we ate there multiple times. The nice thing is it has a relaxed dress code and doesn’t require a reservation. The hibachi was somewhat of a letdown. It had a weird menu and all the food was drenched in sauces. We also had a very annoying server who was trying too hard to be entertaining (Jhonny). The sea side restaurant which is seafood at dinner was a letdown. We got the grilled lobster entrees and mine was under cooked and smelled fishy. My wife’s was very overcooked. We actually left and went to the buffet. As far as reservations are concerned for the restaurants that require them expect to get them 2-3 days out. We flew in on Monday and didn’t get a reservation until Wednesday. Play it safe at the restaurants and get whatever chocolate desert they have. Do not get cheesecake, we got the cheesecake from the steak house and hibachi, and it’s not what you would expect. I had heard that this resort was built and opened in less than a year and it shows. In the rooms there are lots of quality issues like grout and caulk, but don’t let that spoil your trip. The rooms are huge, the beds and pillows comfortable, the AC is adjustable and blows cold, and the Jacuzzi on the balcony is great for days you don’t have great weather. Our AC in the living room wasn’t working when we got there, but our butler got someone to fix it. The only issue we had and it seems like most others had as well was the shower. The slope of the floor in the shower makes the water want to run out and under the door, so our bathroom would flood. We ended up rolling up a towel to stuff next to the door. I think that really shows how rushed they were to complete the resort, but some people we met said they had no problems at all. Hopefully in the future they go through all the rooms and fix stuff. Overall a great trip, we got to do exactly what we wanted, sit on the beach for a week. I would say the service was definitely a shining star for this resort. I expect in another year the resort will improve even more and me and my wife both said we would come back.

Bad Deal

While the facility of attractive and the service good, the food was horrible. The restaurants are not worth one's time. We ate our meals in the buffet and you have to be very selective is what you eat. The lobster dish in the beachside seafood restaurant wasn't fit for a dog. Also, I have sleep apnea and rely on a CPAP machine for my condition. Sleep Apnea is a life threatening condition and if I don't use it every night, I am at risk of a heart attach or stroke. Unfortunately the power goes off frequently in the Mirage rooms. I was awakened several times each night when my CPAP died. I had to wait for the power to be restored before going back to bed. Majestic Resorts is irresponsible in their lack of consideration for their customers. I will never stay at a Majestic Resort again.

dont miss this place

An excellent experience from effortless travel, transfer, and arrival. The resort is new and they are really working to make the experience top notch. All activities were as described and more. Beach was great, food was great, all of the staff was helpful and wanted to make sure you were happy. I would put this place on top for couples, family or just a group of friends on a get away. If you wanted group fun this is it, if you want to read a book and be alone this is it, if you want to bake yourself on the beach this is it, if you want to drink all day this is it with 16 bars and staffed to serve. We will definitely book again and appreciate the fine time..

Room nice but many necessary things are missing,, like not enough shelves, hooks, hangers and so on . Buffets need major improvements ,especially See side one . A la carte restaurants are good. with some service problems due to poor English . New resort with same old entertainment . Beach area nice .Water calm. Check in process weird , your Butler shows you resort first and then you see your room . No need to pay for adults only section, no restrictions to use any areas of the resort. Might return to Majestic Elegance not Mirage.
