Tired but functional.

Definitely not more than a 3 star resort. The resort is tired but, AC works, showers were hot and the beach was advertised. But - the beds were rock hard, food at the buffet (Holiday Inn style) wasn't great. Restaurants were much better but not all were open every day and you need to make reservations the day before by lining up at 7 am (yes, really). Service at the bars and in general was pretty good but don't forget your big Bubba mug or water container (you'll pay $2 for a bottle of water) instead of using their small cups. The beach lacked sun coverage so unless you want to throw your towel over some covered loungers at 6 am, bring $10 and rent an umbrella for the day. Expect the locals to hit you up for excursions, etc...but for the most part, they were polite. In all, nice spot, beautiful island but there are many others as nice that are not as far a flight.

A Jolly Getaway

Very pleased with cheapcaribbean.com. This is the first time I booked everything online and have to admit I was a bit nervous. I've been to many Islands and Antigua was by far my favorite. I do have to say I was a bit shocked at first with the resort, especially the room. Doesn't look like they've changed anything since 1979. However it was extremely clean, the staff and locals were amazing. I didn't go away to sit in a room anyway. The beach was by far the BEST in Antigua. Not a bad ride from airport and the food was decent. Definitely recommend excursions for snorkeling and Atv. We all and all had a Blast and would revisit this island again.

Never Again

Let me start off with the positive the beach is amazing. We arrived on Sunday 3/12/17 we arrived extremely late thank you that horrible airline American. It was like 10 other people that arrived with us. We was trapped in the airport all day hungry and tried well the first disappointment was the hotel doesn't have food past 10:00pm (never heard of such a thing at all inclusive resort). The had some dried up cheese and bread. The 2nd disappointment was the room. The room was so outdated I was shocked, I did read the reviews I seen a little outdated but a little can't describe how outdated it was. The bell hope Kevin was extremely nice and sweet when we told that our flight was delayed for 6 hours and we was there to celebrate my daughter 30th birthday (which got ruined thanks American Airlines) he came back with 2 plates of hot food. Thank you Kevin for your outstanding hospitality. So we went to bed saying tomorrow is another day and we going enjoy the rest of our vacation. Well the beach is amazing, we went to the buffet, typical buffet breakfast it was the staff that we was taken by, no one smiles or interact with the guest. We went to the beach and lay out (not too many huts or umbrellas) but like I expressed already the beach and water is amazing. We went to the pool bar all the staff do is ask who next no interaction no smiles no nothing, we went to the coconut grill for burgers and fries it was ok. Dinner was not very good there wasn't too many options all I could eat that night was the twice baked potato. We went to concierge to make reservation for dinner for the remainder of our stay and the lady said we had to come at 9:00am the following morning for Wednesday reservation. Well when we went the following morning at 9:10am we was informed that they already booked and the only thing they have is 9:30pm (who wants to eat dinner that late) I told the lady we was told by the lady from the previous day to come at 9:00am well this lady said no we should have been there from 7:30am. So we was upset but took the 9:30pm reservation when we went back to the pool bar we ran into the same couples we checked in with and they was upset about the reservation process and was also told to come at 9:00am. We did go to the Italian restaurant the people that work there was great Kerry, Niosha. and the supervisor (can't remember her name Tuesday night) They should be in charge of training all the staff of how to make a guest feel. Thank you ladies. They only have 2 bars and 1 closes at 5:00pm and the other closes at 12:00pm. We on vacation why is everything done so early? We ran to other guest that also was very unhappy with the staff, the food or lack of and the rooms. The compound is really run down management should be a shame that they allow the resort to look like that. By Wednesday I wasn't coming back to Antigua because of my experience at Jolly Beach Resort & Spa. We went on a land tour with Shelly Jay and wow what a great experience and time he show the guest. Thank you Mr. Shelly for the fantastic time (I will return to Antigua because of him). The tour is a must DO!!!! We came back from the tour and ran into the manager Lyndon and told him about my experience and the issue with the reservation he told us he will take care of it and change it to 8:30pm. Thank you Lyndon. The waitress we had was ok but the bartender was awesome (don't know his name, but it was Wednesday night) and then that amazing young lady Kerry was there (she needs a promotion). The dinner was really good we order the lobster tail (you have to pay $25US for it but it was worth it). We was once again misinformed by the same lady at the concierge that our transportation to the airport is at 11:30am I asked why since our flight wasn't until 4:10pm she said that is what she was faxed over by the transportation company. So the day of departure we up at the crack of dawn to get ready and something to eat. We waiting in the lobby since 10:00am when they call for us to load the bus we find out someone else with our last name is the one that leaves at 11:30 and our was at 1:00pm if the young lady at concierge would have took the time to listen to what I was trying to explain we would have been able to enjoy our last day there instead of waiting in the lobby to leave. She clearly is in the wrong profession. The manager came to apologize but that can't give our time back. I will post pictures of the mold on the bathroom shower curtain and ceiling and how bad the rooms are. I went to many all inclusive resorts and this is by far my worst experience ever. I never went to all inclusive and have such unfriendly staff and so many guest unhappy with the same thing we was unhappy for. If you are planning a vacation to Antigua STAY AWAY FROM JOLLY BEACH RESORT & SPA!!!!!!

Antiqua

The price was affordable, you get what you pay for, the room were small, no hot water, bathroom is small. The food was ok, you have to make reservations to the 3 restaurants which is always full. The beach and pools very nice, the entertainment at night was ok. Jamaica is my favorite place not Antiqua
