Great time had by all

The resort was beautiful, so well taken care of by all of the great and friendly staff, Our guest service rep. Brisson was the best. The pool was amazing the beach fantastic plenty of chairs and shade. Plenty of bars with great drinks. The resort is a great size easy to get around. Had a wonderful massage at the spa with Bocana. My husband and kids (18 & 20) went to the intro dive class. learned a lot an did 2 great dives, thanks Raphael for a great time. The snorkeling at the beach was amazing so many fish. Took out the small catamaran twice great time. Food was ok, not bad but nothing special, highlight was the Paella on the beach, giant pan tons of seafood enough for everyone. Loved it. Tried all the specialty restaurants, nothing special, Buffet had a lot to offer. Only went to one show Vegas so funny too tired at the end of the day for any others. My son purchased some cigars for his friends got a better deal at the hotel then the airport duty free almost 2x the price at airport. All in all it was a great time was so sad to leave the D.R People are great so friendly and always wanting to make your stay a great one. We were told the hotel was full to capacity but never felt crowded, never had trouble renting anything, getting reservations or finding a place to sit. Also wanted to mention the ride to the resort from Santo Domingo airport was only 1 1/2 hrs. got to see the countryside. not a bad trip. People at Amstar were very nice.

Incredible!

All I can say is I can't believe my trip is over. I first visited Hacienda Dominicus about 14 years ago when I was a kid. My family was telling me it light not be as nice, or as good because it's older now but because I remember having a fun time I said It can't be that bad. Man were they wrong. This place is incredible! I decided to come here for me and my wife's honeymoon. From the moment you enter the resort you feel like you are a king. You get personalized treatment, we had the pleasure of being introduced to the resort by Felix. He was amazing. Extremely friendly and helpful, got us all setup including restaurant reservations, which he gave us 2 extra reservations. Only 3 are allowed for a 7 night stay. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Everything worked including the a/c, the safe and the mini bar. The room was very spacious. We had a 1st floor corner room and it has a huge corner balcony. The staff throughout the entire hotel was super friendly. Shout out to Anyelo! The most amazing server I have ever met. After a hiccup with our romantic dinner by the beach which was paid for additionally, Anyelo was able to recover what seemed to be an unsalvageable beach dinner and make it a super fun experience. It brought a tear to our eyes to have to say bye to him. He felt like he was family. Also, Antonio the cook from the main buffet was amazing. Treated us extra special. Thanks to Randy from the pool bar. Made the best drinks and provided great entertainment and service. Also, thank you to Carlos. He is one of the managers in charge of the restaurants and servers. He did an incredible job assuring our experience at the hotel was one of a kind. The entertainment crew is one special team of people. They are up early and out late entertaining and always have a great time with a smile on their face. William and Lenny are hilarious! "happy happy." Hilarious! Thanks to "woot woot, ñummy ñummy" from the Geisha restaurant. A great and entertaining server. And one last thank you to Anthony. He is Anyelo's uncle and works as a cook in the pool area buffet. My two favorite restaurants were La Geisha Japanese and La Goleta Steak house. Don't fear if you don't have a dinner reservation because the Main buffet is open every night and always has different food and a TON of variety. Hotel has daily outdoor activities and nightly shows. Also has a nice night club. The music could be better but with a few drinks you'll still have a great time. Also, FREE WIFI throughout the entire hotel. And when I say the entire hotel, I mean, I was able to video call from inside the beach. Bottom line, this hotel is absolutely a must visit. If you're thinking of going to Hacienda Dominicus, stop thinking and just do it. You won't regret it.

Decorated for Christmas. Pool bar, my favorite spot

Wonderful trip

I have been to a few resorts and this one was pretty amazing. It was nice also that there were few Americans. We found that many of the tourists were from France, Spain, Mexico and Germany. Although there are always beach vendors and pushy sales pitches, they were very restricted to areas so we could easily avoid them. The coffee and rum was top shelf. The food was amazing but if we were there over a week, it might get old as their are many options but it may happen. The only real problem was the price of certain things. I.e. the photo shop wont really give you an answer for the photo's price until after. While they wont charge you, it was about 20 dollars a photo and we must pay for the physical photo to get a digital copy. Also the video taken of us scuba diving (she just showed up without a request) said the video was 70 dollars for one dive. We easily declined but everything seemed pricey. Worth a trip though. The coral reef was merely minutes (like 4?) from the resort by boat. Also, pay for the shuttle! it was about 1.5 hours from the airport and there were many shady people offering us a ride.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive, everything-you-want escape haven.

Chillaxing with a cocktail at the epic Lighthouse Bar that's right on the beach.

Destressing with a beachfront massage, Turkish bath & other goodies at the spa.

The sand castle building, mini-golf, horseshoes and more for the kiddos.

What We'd Change

The food at this resort is wonderful, but you may not be the only one feasting. The mosquitoes can really go to town here, so be sure to pack repellent.

Why You Should Go

It's about an hour and a half drive from the Santo Domingo airport. Nap time.

At the Aquarium, nearby, you can see aahmazing coral.

Don't miss the snorkeling/scuba at Dressel Divers Center - there's a fee, but worth it.

If you need an extra twin bed for a teen or little one, just ask - you can get one.
