Riviera Maya- Tulum- Playa Del Carmen Trip

First time to visit and it was a very nice experience. Everything was done as planned. Will definitely be booking again with Cheap Caribbean. They helped with having everything in order and ran smoothly.

HOTEL

I would not recommend this hotel based on the fact the last 3 nights we had no air conditioning very uncomfortable and the management did not offer to place us in another room, so needless to say they were 3 miserable nights. Also water on thebathroom floor constantly management and maintenance were advised again no results. We feel that we should be compensated for the last 3 days of our dream vacation.

Grand Bahia Principe Tulum

I was at the Grand Bahia Principe for my son's wedding for 5 days, The visit/experience couldn't have been better! The wedding was everything the Bride and Groom expected. The back-drop of clear skies, white sand, beautiful blue water and the resorts amenities were above expectations. Our room was clean, in a great location in the resort and the staff were superbly accommodating. I know my son and his new wife will remember their wedding day the rest of their lives.

Nice resort

Let me start by saying this is a beautiful, well-manicured resort! The grounds are manicured daily, so they always look great. The facilities are very nice and picturesque. We arrived 3 hours earlier than the check-in time, and the front desk was nice enough to get us in our room at 1pm, instead of the 3pm check-in time. That helped, since we'd been traveling since early that morning. Our room was nice, exactly as portrayed in the pictures. However, our air conditioner did not work properly for the first two days of our stay. You cannot phone the front desk, because no one picks up. We walked back to the front desk, and were told it would be promptly taken care of. Someone came and made an adjustment the first day, but it still didn't work properly. Repeated the process day two, and this time it was fixed correctly and the room temperature was fine after that. The beach is rocky. Yes, we read that in many other reviews, but didn't realize how rocky until we actually were there. You definitely need beach/water shoes. The seaweed was constant, and I felt bad for the resort staff who spent 10 hours a day trying to keep it as clear as they could, even using tractors to scoop it up and haul it off. And not that the hotel had any control over this, but we had a red flag warning the entire week of our stay, so we weren't able to use the catamarans or kayaks at all. Snorkeling could only be done inside the barriers. We were always able to find beach chairs in the shade so that was nice. The pools were nice, but a little crowded because you couldn't really swim in the ocean. Chairs there were more difficult to come by, if you didn't arrive early. There are plenty of dining options, with something for everyone. We visited three of the ala carte restaurants -- Portofino, Don Pablo, and Le Gran Tortuga. I have to say Le Gran Tortuga was by far our favorite, not only because the food was awesome, but the wait staff was very friendly and tried to make a personal connection. Our biggest complaint of the entire stay was the service/wait staff in the large main buffet area. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, it seemed they ignored most people. We had read a few reviews that said if you leave a small tip, then you get better service and attention, but that did not seem to help in our case. The smaller buffets on either end of the resort had better service, but could only be used for breakfast and lunch. Overall, we had a nice time, and would recommend this hotel simply because of the value. It was a nice holiday, and in spite of the few problems we had, the staff did try to accommodate and resolve issues quickly Grand Bahia is a lovely resort with a lot to offer.
