  Would not recommend

  We have visited many resorts in the Miya riviera and would say this one ranks near the bottom of the. We have a superior premium suite which looks like a regular suite. Air conditioner can’t keep up, tv is broken, called 4 times in two days, no one came, had to fix myself. Food is mediocre, no opening available for a la carte restaurants. No bar service at the pool areas. Drinks are small. No food service except at main building, st north end an every thing is closed. Basically no one around. What staff you encounter are friendly. Save your money, visit a Hyatt resort, you will enjoy it more

  We loved it!

  We loved our stay. Every aspect of this hotel is great. The entertainment staff keep you in your toes and laughing out loud. I didn’t have a single meal. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at buffet were spectacular with plenty of fruits, salads and tasty chicken. meat or fish option. They also make health drinks for breakfast. Bacon was good too ;-). We ate at the Brazilian restaurant (Gran Tortuga) and it was no less quality than in the US. Other Bahia Principe hotels with Brazilian steak houses need to come here for training. Parts of the beach were rocky so would recommend sandals with straps or snorkeling booties. So many fun sports by the beach or pool (volleyball, water polo, crazy ball). Excellent drinks, both with or without alcohol. God willing, we’ll come back again.

  If food, alcohol & pool/beach service are important, do not stay here

  Property was clean and safe. Staff was friendly. Rooms could use a remodel; AC is motion activated so your room always feels hot when you walk back in it or you wake up in the middle of the night hot. The buffet was beyond terrible as was the pool restaurant. Do whatever you can to get reservations for every night of your stay at the restaurants; I could not get the app downloaded and did not make dinner reservations and we were able to walk in to one of the restaurants tip the house and get seated, even though half of the tables appeared to be open. We ate lunch and an early dinner at Xel-Ha because the food was better there than the resort. We ended up taxing off property and going to eat in a nearby town our final two nights in an effort to avoid the buffet as well as the lackluster entertainment options on property. I told the resort directly we would not return to this property or any other, luxury or otherwise in the future.

  3 days of vacation wasted

  Terrible experience we have been to this resort 5 other times and will it be back. We came with family and our new daughter in laws parents for the holiday. First they did not have our room ready and accommodated us one night in Akumal and gave us PINK wristbands which were supposed to get us all access. However we could not get into any restaurant not as a group or as couple. We were told they were all full. So much for these pink bands joke. They upgrade our rooms at Tulum for the the next 5 nights. The next day come we were trying to enjoy activities but we were told at noon we had to be out room we didn’t get back to our room right at noon and had been locked out. Had to find someone to let us all in out rooms to get our belongings to go to Tulum.. We get to Tulum anfter this rush to get us out annd our new rooms wet not going to be ready for 2 hrs. More time wasted. That night 3 of our 5 rooms tv did not work my daughters room had a smell she waited over 2 hr for someone to fix. We thought if was taken care of and the smell came back. In the morning we requested them to switch room and we told she needed to be packed to be out of the room by noon but new room would be ready by 3. When we asked could they not be put in a vacant room now they said it was not procedure. We asked housekeeping to make there new room priority so they could move ASAP instead of wasting 3rd day of vacation for something that was not there problem. Again not there procedure. When we asked how they were going to make this right losing all this time we were told we upgraded your rooms and gave you pink bands. I replied the pink band can’t even get us in the ala cart restaurants they don’t help us at all. And the upgraded room didn’t work out as we neede to switch rooms. Once room was ready they were still very rude and short with no apology. We told them the room next to ours was vacant to get them in there and again not procedure it was being assigned to guest coming in. What about the guest with 2 kids in front of you. In conclusion don’t waste money on upgraded bands. They are worthless even though we got on the app early we couldn’t book dinners sold out and the resort was not accommodating to getting any of our group into the habachi grill or steakhouse. We still have several days left bitter sweet. Also instead of using the auditorium for the show they used the coffee house with not nearly enough seats for guests who want to enjoy an hour show standing and in front of people. We have brought many people here and WILL not be bank. We couldn’t even be offered a spa service or free future nights so dissappoinyed.

  disappointing

  If you are going for the beach, don’t go there, it is the worst beach i’ve seen, you can’t swim because there are too many rocks, you need special shoes and the beach is far from the main resort. Going to your room is dangerous, you need to avoid cars, little trains and motorcycles and They don’t slow down when they see you! Food is ordinary and very repetitive. Diner reservations is horrible! We did the reservations on our first day of arrival and the only place’s left on our 10 days stay where at 9:00 pm and we could not choose the restaurant we wanted! Positive: drink are good, place is clean, animation is good. I will never go to another bahia principe.
