Overall I enjoyed my stay!!!

I had to lower my expectations in order to have a good time. Once I did that then I was enjoying my vacation!! I won't complain about anything except for the food. Everything else was average but the service was great. I had a few staff who catered to us and were very helpful. Sad I don't remember their names:( let's talk dining. The food was ok! Could have been better! Mostly everything was overcooked, dry and/or mushy!! The burger principe(after hours) only had burgers and hotdogs. I do not eat meat and was starving on the first night after partying at the lounge. I called room service and was told that it was not included in my package(fine print)! I complained to the manger, Winston, and was told that I should not expect to be accommodated because I do not eat meat I had no other options! . He was very nasty, rude, and unprofessional After getting into an argument with him, he called my room back to apologize and offered a Cesar salad which I declined!!! Eventually you get use to the food!!! Overall I had a good stay. I would definitely go back with the expectation that I won't have great good!!!

Best vacation ever!

We loved this resort and can't wait to go back! They treat you like royalty! I only gave a 4 for dining options because you are only allowed a certain number of reservations at the non-buffet restaurants based on how many nights you stay at the resort. We stayed 5 nights and were only allowed 2 reservations but would have liked to have had more.

Best vacation ever!

So Close, But It's The Little Things

I'm not really a fan of all-inclusives but they work for some people. If you're inclined to be stuck on a resort and only leave for tours, then this is your place. You're fooled, I think, in choosing an all-inclusive that you don't have to spend more money. Actually, it's just the opposite. The hotel nickle and dimes you for everything...even a local call on the island is US $1, and they intentionally screw up the basic "free" wifi so that you are forced to buy a wifi package to get connected and access to anything, even if it doesn't even work a fraction of the time. Besides, if you're paying for a service, shouldn't it work everywhere all the time? They have taken great pride and care in making sure you are marketed to the hilt with their time-share offers and any other things that might add to their revenue pool. Sadly, with the way their people work so hard, they don't take great care in making sure the service that are a part of the package are great so that there is no room for complaints. There are a lot of guests, mostly european, who complain for every little thing - some valid, some unnecessary - and it's the staff, who are already working so hard who have to take the brunt of their complaints. Like the saying goes, the devil is in the details, Gran Bahia, and if you really want to make your property and your guests' experience perfect, pay attention to them.

Worst Experience Ever!!!

Terrible experience!!!! First of all the a/c broke and for two nights we slept miserably before we got our room switched. Thanks to the housekeeping supervisor and crew who helped make our stay a little more comfortable. The food was distasteful and undercooked, even my six yr old thought it was disgusting and literally refused to eat it. We had to buy food at nearby restaurants so what's the point of paying for an all-inclusive hotel??? Also, the lobby, dining room and recreational areas are extremely hot.

What's to Love

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica Hotel only offers suites, so these rooms not only look great, but are big enough for the whole family.

What We'd Change

The beach is a little pebbly, so make sure you bring your water shoes. The upside is that it makes for truly excellent snorkeling right off shore.

Why You Should Go

There's always something to do at a resort this big. You can sunbathe on the beach, lounge at the pool, or enjoy Pueblo Principe's nightlife.

Hotel Description

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica: Experience All-Inclusive Fun for the Family

It's time to let your hair down as warm Jamaican breezes wash over you. Leave your worries behind and step onto the beautiful shores of Runaway Bay, where the all-suite Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica offers all-inclusive access to a lake-style, beachfront pool with 2 swim-up bars for their popular dirty banana cocktails. Between Pueblo Principe shopping and Principito Mini Club for kids, there's fun for everyone at this Victorian-style resort.

Drop off the luggage, grab a swimsuit and head for the private beach: the water in front of the resort is great for snorkeling. Palapas and lounge chairs are available for chilling out, and you can get rid of those pesky tan lines in the au-naturel beach. Head over to the gigantic, beachfront pool for a Red Stripe from one of the two swim-up bars, while the kids splash in the separate kiddie pool. When you've worked up an appetite, try the delicious fare at six restaurants: spicy quail at Garden Grill Steak House is mouth-watering, and a hearty dish of spaghetti keeps the kids happy at Dolce Vita. For an authentic treat, try jerk chicken at the snack bar. The easy fun carries on after sunset at Pueblo Principe, home to the Sports Bar and mini casino if you're feeling lucky, the Karaoke Piano Bar lets you belt out the lyrics to your favorite tunes and Calypso Theatre has dance shows.

Drop the kids off at Principito for face painting and video games while you board a catamaran, go windsurfing or paddle out in a kayak. Book an excursion to Port Antonio and The Blue Lagoon (yes, like the movie) for jaw-dropping sights before heading back to Bahia Spa for a Turkish bath or relaxing massage with ganja oil.

  • All meals, snacks, local drinks and cocktails in all the restaurants and bars within the hotel complex
  • One hour of select sports activities
