Nailed It.
Just got back from a trip to the GBP in Jamaica and loved it. The hotel is beautiful and the staff very nice and accommodating. From the moment I checked in to the time I had to leave I enjoyed my stay, felt very safe and relaxed.
My room was very clean and comfortable with a nice view of the ocean and surrounding country from my balcony. When not at the beach or pool, it was a nice place to retreat too.
The breakfast and lunch buffets had good selections of food, so it was easy to mix things up a get a different taste everyday. I especially liked the ala carte restaurants, and be sure and have the jerk chicken for lunch down by the beach.
I really enjoyed the beach and the calm, warm water for wading and snorkeling. It was a gorgeous setting and I never had a problem finding a beach chair. The small bars sprinkled throughout also made things very convenient for rest and relaxation.
The hotel is big and it was easy to find something happening, or to find a quiet spot to read and lounge. There were activities always going on and entertainment everyday with staff that were very fun and engaging.
And speaking of the staff, I'd like to give special thanks to Peta-Gay who met me check-in and gave me a warm smile and wave every time she saw me, Tameisha, Fitzgerald and Alcott who provided great service during my dinners, Phillip the jerk chicken chef and Shanna who worked one of the pool bars and was just great.
What more can you ask than a beautiful resort with nice people, great food and activities. I'm ready to go back.

Well just returned from a 5 day stay. I was really disappointed. Ive stayed at a few all inclusive resports and this was really not up to the 4 to 5 stars it claims. First, the service from the start. I had requested/booked a room with 2 double beds and a "sleeper Sofa. The sleeper sofa was just a bench. I booked a "golden Club" room that was supposed to be privledged class however it really wasnt. We had 3 people in our room and it took a few days to get more than 2 coffee cups and adequate supply of towels for 3 people. Our remote was broken and it tool over 6 hours to get it replaced after 3 phone calls to the front desk. The worst part was the sales people nagging you every day to take part in there timeshare tour everytime you walked by the lobby. will never go back
We had a great time at Grand Bahia Principe. the resort is beautiful. The staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed the Japanese restaurant and The Grill, and the Snack bar at the beach. We were disappointed with the Italian restaurant, and the buffet was just average. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
The overall experience with this resort was that it was good. Everything is open and there were no bugs or insects. The beaches and the pools were awesome. There were plenty of activities to keep people busy the entire stay. The food wasn't the best but if you get the chance to eat at the French Restraunt then do so...AMAZING!!! Their spa is very beautiful but their personnel talk amaongst themselves and don't act to perfessional in doing so. Do not get talked into taking their sales pitch tour unless you are interested in buying a share....the gift at the end isn't worth the time wasted during the presentation! The sales people are very friendly on "making a living"! For the rest of them they have the "no problem mon" attitude and will bend over backwards to make your trip enjoyable!

No, buy a transport coupon through cheap carribean, or pay about 45 usa dollars per person.
Leslea
The resort does not provide this as a free service. Round-Trip Airport Transfers From MBJ is currently $42 per person for the shared service provided by JTL. This will include stops along the way. This price is subject to change.
KellyCC
No it is not free. I would recommend booking transport before you arrive. Usually best done when booking the trip itself.
snapper1
JTL. We booked with cheapcaribean. no headache of bargaining and easy transfer to and from airport from resort

No.
JamminBrit
You have to pay a little extra for the transportation. At least that was the case for me. I think it was about $20-30 extra a person. But it is good as the ride is part of your package and it is safe as opposed to getting a taxi or something and not knowing anything about the country you're in.
TonyPops
No, you can wait until you get there to book it at one of the many transportation desks, but I don't recommend it....book it ahead of time so you're not at their mercy for cost.
BossGirl
Not sure. We paid for personal transportation from the airport to the hotel. I would definitely recommend that. We had 4 couples and we wanted to go straight to the hotel. We were told that if we took the bus, it would stop at all hotel locations along the way........

Is there good snorkeling right off the beach6 answers
9 months ago
Jen
The resort is set upon a beautiful white sand beach and offers several beach activities daily including snorkeling. The water in front of the resort is great for snorkeling.
KristenCC
Yes. My friends all snorkeled when we were there.
marnie
would not say good if you have ever been anywhere good
buzzmonkey
Yes, you can sign out snorkeling equipment at the hotel dive shop, for about 1 1/2 hours daily at no charge. We managed to see a ray , a lion fish, and lots of other colourful fish i can't name, right off the beach.
maryanncee
No. The snorkeling off the beach is in very shallow water, and most of it is over grassy weeds. You need to be a good enough swimmer to duck the buoys and swim out past the grass to see any reef or fish, and again, it is shallow (no more than 2-3 of water above the reef).
To find good snorkeling, you have to walk to the far edge of the main beach (where the gate for the nude beach is); there is a swimming path that cuts through the reef you can follow off property. It opens up and leads you to deeper water, where you will see mostly shallow liverock formations and small fish. This is in an unsupervised area, so if you are not an experienced swimmer/snorkeler, don't do it.
Jamaica is not great for snorkeling right off the beach; Doctor's Beach in Montego Bay is decent, but Negril and Ocho are pretty poor. Grand Cayman, St. Thomas and St. John are very good for snorkeling right off the beach, as is Aruba (but it's mangrove, which is fun but different). I have heard Bonaire is the best in the Caribbean, but have never been.
Mello
yes- but most of coral is dead- still lots of life- many types of friendly fish might follow you- watch out for sea urchins!

Do you have great entertainment there? Is the night club always busy?2 answers
1 month ago
Elaine
The resort provides great nightly entertainment. This is a bit subjective however, as different people find different experiences entertaining. The night club is a very popular spot for guests to mingle. How busy it is will vary depending on the time of year, number of guests checked in at the hotel for your dates, special events, etc.
BILLCC
They have live bands on some nights and they have also have a disco... The two nights that I popped in there was a big crowd

I recently purchase a room on line. I notice for the rm option it give you the option for rm type but, bed arrangement option is not there to choose. Double or Single. Is it necassarey to request that or does the bed seperate?

You may request your bedding preference by contacting us at 1-800-915-2322. The first available agent will be happy to note your request and inform the resort. Please be advised that hotel requests cannot be guaranteed, as they are based upon availability at the time of check-in.
BILLCC
Wouldn't hurt to request it- if it is a suite it is good to note the rooms have a couch which could double as a single bed. While you're at it, try to request ocean-veiw. Doesn't hurt to ask :) Worked for us!

Dress code may vary by resort. It gives general guidelines for men, but the best thing for you to do would be contact the resort directly. You can reach them via email directly at: info.jamaica@bahia-principe.com
As far as the reservations, and how easy it is to get them, that is dependant upon how busy the resort is. When you contact them about the dress code, I would give them the dates that you are traveling and ask them how busy they are during those times and if reserving dinner is usually an issue at that time of year. Thank you!
RobinCC
This hotel includes unlimited food and drinks, but some dining restrictions may apply. Please check with the front desk for details. The number of reservations at the a la carte restaurants depend on the length of your stay and the room type reserved. Some restaurants require a dress code for men such as long pants, no open toed shoes or sleeveless shirts.

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica: Experience All-Inclusive Fun for the
Family
It's time to let your hair down as warm Jamaican breezes wash over you. Leave
your worries behind and step onto the beautiful shores of Runaway Bay, where
the all-suite Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica offers all-inclusive access to a
lake-style, beachfront pool with 2 swim-up bars for their popular dirty banana
cocktails. Between Pueblo Principe shopping and Principito Mini Club for kids,

Drop off the luggage, grab a swimsuit and head for the private beach: the
water in front of the resort is great for snorkeling. Palapas and lounge chairs
are available for chilling out, and you can get rid of those pesky tan lines in
the au-naturel beach. Head over to the gigantic, beachfront pool for a Red
Stripe from one of the two swim-up bars, while the kids splash in the separate
kiddie pool. When you've worked up an appetite, try the delicious fare at six
restaurants: spicy quail at Garden Grill Steak House is mouth-watering, and a
hearty dish of spaghetti keeps the kids happy at Dolce Vita. For an authentic
treat, try jerk chicken at the snack bar. The easy fun carries on after sunset
at Pueblo Principe, home to the Sports Bar and mini casino if you're feeling
lucky, the Karaoke Piano Bar lets you belt out the lyrics to your favorite
tunes and Calypso Theatre has dance shows.
Drop the kids off at Principito for face painting and video games while you
board a catamaran, go windsurfing or paddle out in a kayak. Book an excursion
to Port Antonio and The Blue Lagoon (yes, like the movie) for jaw-dropping
sights before heading back to Bahia Spa for a Turkish bath or relaxing massage
with ganja oil.
After a day of adventure, the 4-poster beds and hydro-massage tubs in the
834 Victorian-style suites have you relaxed and ready for bed in no time.
