We had to change room 3x due to air-conditioning problems. The bathrooms in the rooms smell really bad. They smell like backed up sewage. We had them cleaned a few times but the smell remained. This resort is not worth the money spend. I've been to jamaica before and breezes resort was fantastic.

Solid Experience

The resort was beautiful. However, it was much larger than expected, which made it feel a bit stretched out and empty at times. Definitely a family-friendly place, which is great for families, but probably not ideal for young couples (which we were). The staff was incredibly helpful, polite, and approachable. It sometime took 2 or 3 calls to the Operator/Front Desk to get an answer about something or address a concern, but the staff was still quite friendly. There are only 2 included all-inclusive dining areas that you do not need to reserve ahead of time, so they get crowded and lines form if you're not there early, which no one likes to deal with. Alternatively, you have the option to make (limited) reservations at any of the 5 on-site restaurants, but the availability of these is limited, even though most places are relatively empty when you actually dine in them. This was probably the oddest part of the experience. I related it to NYC or LA clubs that have massive lines in the front to create this feeling of "exclusivity", but do not actually have any patrons when you get inside. The resort could do a better job of "dining management". As you can expect, everything that you can buy (gift shop items, excursions, etc) is pretty over-priced, but you're able to bargain a bit on most things. DEFINITELY get out of the resort if you can i.e. take a trip to Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and/or Negril, as this resort is pretty far from most things and there is no local town to explore.

Week stay and a wedding

My wife and I went to the Bahia Prinicpe to get married a little over a week ago and stayed for a full week to relax and enjoy. First things first, the wedding was fantastic! We were a little worried because the communication leading up was lacking, however once we arrived, the preparation and ceremony went perfectly! Wedding: 5/5 palms The resort is aesthetically pleasing from the lobby to the rooms to the beaches and pools it looks and feels grandiose. However the hallways and elevators leave something to be desired. But that's truly the only gripe that I have with the place. The beaches were pretty good especially if you make your way towards the margarita bar all the way down to the west. The coves by the gazebo had some rocks which made for some good snorkeling where we saw some squid, eels, and a myriad of reef fish. The buffet left something to be desired. There were a lot of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner but the food wasn't great. The beach bar was the better lunch option, the jerk chicken was quite good. Just don't expect cruise quality from the buffets. The restaurants were better we had the opportunity to enjoy dolce vita, don pablo, the mixed grill and mikaido. The don pablo was the best followed by the mixed grill and dolce vita. I would not recommend the mikaido. Although they did have some great desserts. By the end of the trip we found out that room service pizza and nachos was the best in terms of snacks and only took about a half hour to get to the room. Overall it was a great experience, we had 20 in our group and it seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves. Definitely worth the price we paid.

What's to Love

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica Hotel only offers suites, so these rooms not only look great, but are big enough for the whole family.

What We'd Change

The beach is a little pebbly, so make sure you bring your water shoes. The upside is that it makes for truly excellent snorkeling right off shore.

Why You Should Go

There's always something to do at a resort this big. You can sunbathe on the beach, lounge at the pool, or enjoy Pueblo Principe's nightlife.

Hotel Description

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica: Experience All-Inclusive Fun for the Family

It's time to let your hair down as warm Jamaican breezes wash over you. Leave your worries behind and step onto the beautiful shores of Runaway Bay, where the all-suite Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica offers all-inclusive access to a lake-style, beachfront pool with 2 swim-up bars for their popular dirty banana cocktails. Between Pueblo Principe shopping and Principito Mini Club for kids, there's fun for everyone at this Victorian-style resort.

Drop off the luggage, grab a swimsuit and head for the private beach: the water in front of the resort is great for snorkeling. Palapas and lounge chairs are available for chilling out, and you can get rid of those pesky tan lines in the au-naturel beach. Head over to the gigantic, beachfront pool for a Red Stripe from one of the two swim-up bars, while the kids splash in the separate kiddie pool. When you've worked up an appetite, try the delicious fare at six restaurants: spicy quail at Garden Grill Steak House is mouth-watering, and a hearty dish of spaghetti keeps the kids happy at Dolce Vita. For an authentic treat, try jerk chicken at the snack bar. The easy fun carries on after sunset at Pueblo Principe, home to the Sports Bar and mini casino if you're feeling lucky, the Karaoke Piano Bar lets you belt out the lyrics to your favorite tunes and Calypso Theatre has dance shows.

Drop the kids off at Principito for face painting and video games while you board a catamaran, go windsurfing or paddle out in a kayak. Book an excursion to Port Antonio and The Blue Lagoon (yes, like the movie) for jaw-dropping sights before heading back to Bahia Spa for a Turkish bath or relaxing massage with ganja oil.

  • All meals, snacks, local drinks and cocktails in all the restaurants and bars within the hotel complex
